Kobe's Japanese Cuisine

I went here for lunch today with my husband and a couple of other people. They have a half off menu for their maki rolls and a discount on the nigiri sushi and sashimi. I had their eel, sweet shrimp, salmon, salmon roe, and flying fish roe. They were alright for the price they were listed at but not the best sushi I’ve had. The sweet shrimp and salmon roe were not on their discounted menu but was still very cheap. Of note, they mislabeled their flying fish roe. It’s actually the cheaper and less tasty smelt roe. I asked the server and she didn’t seem to know what fish eggs they were. She also didn’t know the Japanese names so order using the English names. Service was alright. Our server came to check on our table and refill our waters once. In the end for the sushi I ordered and the three rolls my husband got, we paid $57 so it’s all pretty affordable for sushi.

I have so many regrets. Got takeout sushi here one night because I reallyyyy wanted sushi. But when you’re in landlocked freezing North Dakota there are few sushi options, let alone fresh and actually good availabilities. So many people in the area rave about Kobe’s, so I decided to go for it. Never again. This was literally the worst sushi I’ve ever had and it makes my stomach hurt just thinking of it. Sushi may be raw fish, but it’s not supposed to taste *fishy*. That’s not how good sushi is, but this Kobe’s sushi tasted so fishy I couldn’t even force myself to get halfway through the rolls. I actually felt ill after eating them, and my mom agreed that they were horrendous. It was awful. And I’ve had a friend say how bad the sushi is there too. I felt I needed to share this because of just how bad it was. So please beware, for the sake of your stomach.
