Savory Deli And Market

Awesome Deli. The selections for lunch or dinner is just terrific. The shrimp salad caught my eye. Nice sized shrimp ready to put on your choice of roll or bread. Then, I saw the Maryland crab meat salad. Jeez, what a dilemma. Which should I pick?! Went with the crab. Will get the shrimp on my next visit. The pricing is good and the food is carefully prepared and well presented.

My husband and I came here today and got basically one of everything. He got an Italian sub, I got an Italian wrap and it was a stone cold Italian sub/wrap. Absolutely phenomenal. We also got cheesecake which was wonderful, I'm a baker myself and that cheesecake was the perfect consistency! Definitely 100% would recommend!

I am not one for posting reviews but I do have to say something after my visit there yesterday. First and foremost, I have been going to Savory for the past 5 years, stopping in a would say once a week for a breakfast sandwich or convenience item. Food is great. Yesterday however upon check out I noticed a new debit/credit card system, when I simply mentioned it, I was told it is new credit card system for all cards debit or credit which allows Savory to impose a 4% processing fee. Now I am not new to credit card fees as I work for a business and see the amount of money we pay in fees to process, however we would NEVER pass that fee on the customer!! I have to say that I will only be going to Savory if I have cash, which isn't often.

Passed by this place many times. Have recently been there twice for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and the staff were pleasant. They enforce the mask policy. But, oddly there was on staff member fixing/cooking food wearing what looked like a neck gator, and the nose of it looked wet like from breathing. This staff member kept pulling it down with a gloved hand when cooking at the stove, and pulling it up with the same gloved hand to cover the nose when they moved away from the stove. Gloves touching food should not touch anything else and if they do, they must be changed before touching food again. The CDC recommends wearing a mask while fixing food for others. Neck gators and bandanas are the least effective face masks. Basically like wearing nothing. I understand the general public is not used to breathing in masks or wearing gloves. But both are for the protection of others when preparing food. So I hesitate to visit the deli again, especially now with the uptake in Covid. 3 stars for food, would be higher if proper mask & glove usage.

Great MTO food and Premade options! I took off 1 star because they close the deli 1 hour before they close, including the Premade options. I work long shifts and I will get there 45 mins before they close and the deli is dunzo! Recently they are charging a 4% fee on Debit card transactions and that sucks. It has definitely affected how often I stop there for anything because I rarely have cash. So if it's late, I just go down to Jarretsville for a Fee Free Deli sandwich.
