El Jardin

My husband and I had dinner here to celebrate his 90th birthday. It's a favorite restaurant of ours since the 1990's. We both always order the "Ole", which is a large burrito filled with chicken (or beef), a large chili relleno and beans, then covered with (red) sauce. It's to die for and we took our leftovers home, along with an order of their salsa, cheese sauce and of course their chips. Our waiter, Carlos, saw to our every need and made everything perfect. Nice, soft music played in the background as I sipped on a Cadillac margarita. We had a lovely time.

The best thing about this place was the service and waitresses which were awesome. Which is why 2 stars not 1. Sadly the food experience was not as great. The chimichanga (shredded beef and bean) was not very flavorful. The seafood enchiladas were very fishy to the point of inedible. The replacement order of a carne asada burrito was ok but, they still charged for the replacement and charged the higher cost of it. The cheese quesadilla was good but, the burger my son had tasted like frozen patty meat. The guacamole was decent and the margarita I had was good but, the up charge was high for patron tequila. The soda drinks were 2.95 which is high to me. The fried ice cream was delicious (chocolate and caramel) and the "churros" tasted ok but, they were doughy. The prices were really high considering lower food quality and quantity compared to similar local businesses. I don't know if it was an off day for the cooks. I really hoped the food experience would be good because the staff was so great.
