I don’t eat here often as it’s out of my budget, but the gnocchi starter is probably my favorite dish of all time and the one thing I will sometimes crave when I’m out of the country for an extended period. Everyone should try it at least once in their lifetime.

BEST EVER< SORRY TO SEE IT GO> Happy Retirement. Always my favorite in Eugene . Order it and pick up or dine in a intimate location. Here you can bring your own bottle of wine with a cork fee.
Bruno shops for his food at local markets and menu changes frequently.
A must for a foodie.

I think this restaurant is also called tradewinds. Very good Mediterranean food! It is busy though. I tried to order by phone. No luck. I had to order online through grubhub. Worth.it though!

My favorite restaurant in Eugene. I love the thoughtfully crafted menu that changes frequently, it makes it so rewarding to make return visits. The atmosphere is always relaxed and intimate. I couldn't be happier with the service or the food.

I had the pleasure of dining at Bruno's Chef Kitchen this weekend and was fortunate enough to chat with Bruno about his menu. His sea scallops with truffles entre was wonderful. Each dish ordered by my friends was a hit also. Also had the Tango cocktail. Try it! You will be glad you did!!

All I can say is that my meal at Chef's Kitchen was excellent! I had the ceviche as an appetizer followed by the filet. A superb finish with the cheesecake. I suggest reviewing the website before you go.

We had an excellent dinner here, the salmon was cooked to perfection the service was outstanding, this place is totally underrated.
while I have seen some people complain about the price point, they are serving locally sourced ingredients fresh fish from Newman's fish market everything made from scratch with Bruno's own special recipes and ingredients/ spices and they care about what they are doing here.
This place is underrated, it's quaint and very relaxing, not overly loud like a lot of other small restaurants in town. They have outdoor seating which is great right now with the weather warming up.
Give it a try and support your locally owned restaurants it's worth it.

Been here twice. First time it was good not the best place in Eugene. First time food was good but not excellent, loved the cozy atmosphere so we went back a second time. This time was horrible. My girlfriend and I went for a date night. We ordered a bottle of wine and appetizers. I ordered the fillet for dinner, medium in temperature. When I received it, it was not trimmed up and it was over cooked. When I sent it back Bruno's wife/waitress took it back to the kitchen. Bruno went mad yelling, saying I didn't know what I was talking about and a few other things and promptly ordered the plate to be returned to me and was told I should have ordered it medium rare. I couldn't believe it. It was so intimidating for us I just sat there and didn't know what to say. Couldn't even take another bite, I have never been treated in such a manner. For the $120.00 tab there was no reason for this treatment. We will NEVER return to that place.

My wife and I eat here on special occasions. The food is incredible. A bit pricey but very good. The restaurant is cozy and maybe a bit cramped but the food makes up for it and it just adds to the charm. Our service has always been excellent.

Chef is rude and treats people terribly. If you ask for something cooked a little more, you get it raw because he is offended! Never will go back!

Chef's Kitchen Take Out. Chef's Kitchen will prepare MOST menu items for take out if the atmosphere doesn't suit you. In 15 years of bringing home Chef's Kitchen take out, my family has enjoyed every meal. The quality is always superb. Many find some of the entrees too pricey. It's a special treat for us!

They were just about to close but still helped us out. We got the Enchilada casserole that is supposed to feed 4 people. They were not kidding! They quality was what your would expect from the West Bros. For a neighborhood fast food Mex place, it definitely is a winner. Reply Mr. Eugenified permalink March 3, 2010 6:18 pm I have always wanted to try that place. But I once read they were going to close it down and convert it to some other Westraunt-owned outlet. I think they later changed their mind about this though. I will give it a shot in the next few days. (The low score on UrbanSpoon is not filling me with confidence, but gotta take a risk once in a while, right?). Food was amazing. We shared the cheese gnocchi and both had the scallops & shrimp provencal. Service was quick and friendly. Prices are on the high side though, so you can't try too many dishes in one meal. If we lived here, this is a place we'd come back to again. Yum!

The best of meals, the worst of meals. This used to be my go-to place for out of town guests. Creative and well executed food. Variety and every changing. But I no longer dine there because the last time we went we had a table of 6, all clearly family and they charged an automatic 20% tip. The restaurant was empty except my family, we were clearly one family, yet they insisted on a 20% tip. I thought tips were just that, tips reflecting the service quality. It was anything but excellent. We have been many times throughout the years and if we arrive a bit late (we're a little European in our ways) like 7:30 pm, we have waited for up to 45 minutes for water, much less ordering. I could go on, but I wont.

On the flip side: The seared ahi with wasabi is very excellent! It's what kept us coming back! Recap: Good cooking mostly, worse than indifferent service.

No Longer On My List. This Pan Pacific tinged, seafood-oriented menu is unlike anything else in town, and very good. But the reason "I Don't Like" Chef's Kitchen is because the dining experience is often an unpleasant one. The tables are small and rickety, the silverware is cheap and dented, the makeshift entrance patio is a bad afterthought, and with their increasingly high prices, one shouldn't have to pay extra for the bread. You are paying for a fancy dinner out, but it sure doesn't feel that way.

But the real deal breaker is that on more than one occasion, we heard the chef screaming, yes SCREAMING, at the waitstaff. Both times, the whole dining room went quiet, and everyone started shifting around uncomfortably. It was completely unacceptable. Why would you spend $100+ here when there is the Rabbit Bistro, with its relaxed, hip vibe and young, ambitious kitchen, a mile away?

My wife and I just went to Chef's kitchen for dinner. The food was good (not great considering the price) and the service was subpar. Subpar in that the timing of serving the food was extremely rushed. Less than five minutes after being served our salad (which we were still eating) our next course arrived. One minute after that, our entree arrived. So we finished our salad as our meals sat on the empty table next to us getting cold. Wine service was poor, the server popped the cork and poured (gentleman first) two oversize pours without letting offering to let us taste first. Subpar. Were asked for desert as we were trying to enjoy our entree. Tried to grab our check before we had a chance to sign it. We felt extremely rushed by several waitstaff constantly checking on us. For the prices, I cannot recommend. Go somewhere like Marche that is superior and has a serving staff that aren't freshman in college and actually know how to pace the service and know the basics about presenting a bottle of wine. Food good. Pushy, untimely, amatuer service bad.

Food good to great. His sauces are excellent, and his pairing of foods nice.
