My husband and I decided to try this place after reading the reviews, and a recommendation from a friend. It's a small restaurant with some outdoor seating and a few booths and tables. There are no waiters or waitresses to take your order. When we walked in and approached the front counter we were given menus and instructed to come back to the counter when we were ready to order. They brought us chips and two kinds of salsa. They were both good, but the chips were a bit on the thick side. I ordered the two item combination plate of the pork chili Relleno and the fish taco with Mexican rice and pinto beans. This is the first time for both of us trying this kind of chili Relleno. It is baked instead of fried. It was pretty good, but I guess we just prefer the traditional fried and stuffed with jack cheese type. I didn't care for the rice. It was just too heavy with the spice's for me, not in a hot spice way but just too overpowering. The beans were okay, but again we prefer the traditional refried beans. I don't think we will be back. Service was good!

My wife and I really enjoy the food here but the wait time for to go food is pretty bad. We ordered a couple salads and some soup. It took over 45 minutes. We have placed orders for to go many times and the wait is always this or worse. I can understand cooked food taking time especially when they have a busy night. But these wait times never change. They are also very rarely "on time" with their estimations. Maybe it's due to staffing shortages but it would be nice to have explanations for long wait times. Either way the food is good so we continue to order here. We just have to plan an hour ahead for when we want to eat.

Cenote Grill is one of those hidden gems in San Marcos Escondido area. All the food I have had there is delicious. But by far the Creamy Poblano soup s worth going. Today I had the Al Pastor Tacos with rice and beans on the side. Sonora enchiladas was very good. The appetizers hit the spot. Next time your in the area definitely go to Cenote Grill.

Just traveling through from Arizona and found this place. Amazing customer service (we just walked out of another place due to a lack of customer service), amazing food, large portions and very fair prices. Thank you and we will definitely stop back by when in the area again.

. Bomb salads, but unfortunately I'm going to have to change my stars based off the last few meals I had here this week. If I do come back i will stick with the salad. Food lacks flavor and carnitas is honestly awful , the rice is soggy and the tacos are always soggy. I have had better authentic food. Give it a shot. They are very judgy at this place and treat people based on looks and appearance I noticed. They serve to the elderly crowd and locals . Yet I own the house across the street and don't get treated too great when I dine in.

Lisa made our experience so amazing! Thank you so much. It was our first time there and we asked her to serve us her best meal. My god did she. The poblano soup was rich and delicious. The steak enchiladas were incredible. The carnitas stuffed chile was bright and savory and left me wanting more. BUT the shrimp taco was my favorite! So amazing!!
