I had the most wonderful dinner here! I have food allergies and the owner was incredibly kind and helped me make appropriate substitutions to avoid my allergies and then she spoke with us for a bit while we aired for our order- she’s so nice! I love the decor, the staff is incredible, and the food was delicious! My friend and I will absolutely be back. The prices were very reasonable, the food was excellent, and the margaritas were very tasty!

The owner of ferdinand's is an incredible gift to the community, and the restaurant carries with it, the stories of her legendary life. My experience recently has simply been at the bar with a few choice items, and I continue to hope that there will be a fostering of spanish-speaking and Mexican culture locally in a way that continues to counteract some of the xenophobic and misogynistic narratives that I have regretfully come across while eating locally.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ferdinand's Mexican Restaurant in downtown Escanaba, Michigan, and I have to say, I was blown away by the quality of the food and service. From start to finish, my experience was top-notch. The atmosphere of the restaurant is warm and inviting, with beautiful decor that transports you to a traditional Mexican cantina. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in the door. Now, let's talk about the food. Oh my goodness, the food. I ordered a variety of dishes to share with my group, including the guacamole, queso fundido, and carnitas tacos. Everything was fresh and bursting with flavor. The portions were generous, and we all left feeling happily satisfied. The bar is well-stocked with a great selection of tequila and other Mexican spirits, and the margaritas were some of the best I've had. The prices are also quite reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. Overall, I highly recommend Ferdinand's Mexican Restaurant to anyone in the Escanaba area. Whether you're looking for a fun night out with friends or a romantic dinner for two, this place has it all. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch, and I can't wait to come back and try more of their delicious menu items. Five stars all around!

Alysa and I try to visit every December 23, for "Ferds on the 23rds". It's a ritual that her friends have had since 2007. Different friends every year, depending on who is in the UP at the time, but always a great time to catch up. Food is always great! Highly recommend!

Food was delicious, they were out of fruit for margaritas, waitress could have been friendlier.

Wonderful, fast, service and excellent food! Reasonably priced and you get a lot for your money. I had to bring some home as I couldn't eat it all in one sitting Great atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

The original Mexican restaurant in town. I've been eating there since I was a kid. Going back after nearly 10 years being gone, it was a moment to see the front has been updated but to walk in and see not much has changed was a bit of nostalgia I didnt realize I appreciated. The food is still as good as I remember and the atmosphere has a cozy and private feeling. The house salsas are worth the visit alone but to get some tasty offerings and then add a margarita or Daiquiri to your meal sets the pace for a relaxing end to your day. Not to mention it's a full bar so you can get your favorite drinks there too. If you find yourself around Ludington (Main) St. and want to eat some Esky history, they'll be happy to serve you.
