Have to say....I was craving a good steak and pickings are slim in englewood! Glad I got that much needed piece of red meat!! It was cooked to medium rare perfection! The corn coconut risotto was DELICIOUS! fresh veggies were just right! So to sum it up......great and satisfying meal! Also the service was equally as good.....I highly recommend this eatery....Go and enjoy
Do not come here is you are looking for typical bad service and mediocre food. Farlow's is wonderful. You can taste the love in every bite. Cheesy? Yes but spot on. The service is top notch professional. The chef's create delicious food and will educate you if needed. This fish pictured below tasted like chicken. How? Why? I don't like fish, but this was divine.
Do not come early because that's when I come so I don't have to wait too long. Make a reservation - this family owned and operated restaurant is Englewood's finest.
This place is a wonderful experience of great food at water setting. The tiggerfish and redfish were amazing as were the conch fritters. On the pricey side but we thought it was worth every $$$.
*Wow, food was top notch!
*Staff was super friendly.
*The only thing I didn't care for was the salad. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad. Just kind of like a normal salad you'd get before a meal at some old timer diner, or the dinner train. Personally, that salad before the meal is the reason why we go to Outback for dinner, so much. So I'd recommend upping that game... aaaand just putting it on some bigger plates. Mixing the dressing was tedious.
*Will definitely come back to try some new things!
We stayed in Englewood 5 nights and went to Farlow's twice for dinner. Our first night, Gabriel was our server and was amazing. We sat in the Patio area both nights, which was beautiful. We were very impressed with all of our meals, including the salad and sides.
We have been to this establishment before and the food is always great. This visit we got oven roasted cauliflower. It was cooked perfectly and was not mush. We had the chili crunch wahoo and the hogfish caught from the Florida keys and both were executed properly. As far as service it was subpar like always so if you’re in a hurry this place is not for you. The waiter was cordial but no sense of urgency. This seems to be the standard anymore. We had some wine which was great and complimented the dishes we had. When you have to close out the bill the server brings over a credit machine and stands there waiting for you to input the NOW 18/20/22 percent gratuity which is uncomfortable especially if it doesn’t warrant service. Let’s just encourage mediocracy post Covid. This seems to be the current way of processing credit now in all establishments. In closing, great place for Caribbean inspired fish dishes from a local spot for a weekend visit.
It was my 75th birthday today. Before my husband was killed in a car accident, he always took me to Farlow's on the Water to celebrate my birthday. I live alone with no family near. I decided I would go to dinner even if I was alone. I am so glad I did! The stuffed triple tail was so amazing. The service was fantastic! Some of the wait staff and hostesses paid for my meal. I was so grateful and surprised I couldn't remember their names. I have eaten there many times and the food and the dining experience is always amazing! Thanks to everyone who made my day special.
So good. Compared to the chain crabby pinchy place we went to yesterday, the $36 fish tonight (grilled hogfish) was very good. Crisp, fresh. Flaky.
Sweet potato. And salad and hot bread were all good. Quinoa salad just ok. Everyone else liked their entrees.
Staying in the Manisota Key for vacation and always spend time researching restaurants and ensuring their menus work for everyone in my family. Shared Farlow's menu with my daughter who is a vegetarian, and she liked the options that were available and we headed there for dinner.
We arrived and were able to get a table in the outdoor patio area which was a very nice area.
Doug was our server and was quick to arrive ar our table and being first time guests, gave a brief overview of the cuisine we were about to experience. He also asked about food allergies/ dietary restictions and while they did not apply, always happy when servers ask.
Despite many appatizers, we were a bit stuffed from a late lunch and just ordered entrees.
I did order a Hazify ( New England IPA) from Palm City Brewing which was served nice and cold on a warm summer evening.
My daughter ordered the The Bad Hunter (Herb roasted cauliflower steak and potatoes served atop our house made pepita pesto and accompanied with grilled asparagus) and I ordered the Peter Island Scallops (U12 sea scallops lightly blackened and layered over fresh blue crab meat then topped with sautéed spinach, artichoke hearts, lemon, white wine cream sauce, topped with shredded Asiago cheese) With my meal, I had a choice of two sides and picked the Boursin Herb Mashed Potatoes and the Quinoa Salad. Both our meals also came with a side salad.
Overall our meals were great. The vegertain options available to my daughter were something different that is not very common in restuarnts that serve steaks and seafood. Clearly I enjoy both and finding places that I can bring my daughter is challenging and Farlows did a great job.
We both enjoyed our meals and had a great time and enjoyed the overall dinning experience. Love the area and will definitely return the next time we may be down this way.
My family is visiting this week to celebrate my wife’s birthday and choose Farlow’s as their dinner destination. A nice waterfront view restaurant nestled in Englewood right off hwy 776. Farlow’s carry an ample dinner menu, especially seafood choices that will delight your taste buds, friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere.
We had a variety of dishes since we had a large group. They were deliciously prepared and well proportioned. Everyone enjoyed our time together and made my wife’s birthday a memorable one.
