Have been to Moonlight State Beach a couple times and it is always a great time. Beautiful beach with restrooms and a concession stand. They have volleyball nets and a playground.
You can hike along the cliffs of the beach and go quite far. Just watch for the incoming tides! Great place for sunrises and sunsets.

This was our first visit visit to Moonlight Beach and my little family loved it. It was a convenient walk from our hotel, with lovely yards and a beautiful rock garden lining the street. The beach was clean and the supporting buildings were well maintained. It was great to see families enjoying the great weather on Saturday. We went back three times during our stay in Encinitas including a sunrise excursion. I would absolutely visit again. What a lovely example of California's state beaches.

If you want to explore socal, without touristy spots, this beach can be one of them. This is gorgeous, laid back, cool without much people. It’s narrow but the view could be spectacular. The ocean is great. You can walk long way along the pacific. It’s a calm residential area, so can imagine people enjoying moonlit night by the pacific. The view could be stellar. The beach is small, having amenities like washrooms, etc. there’s picnic benches, playground for kids. It’s perfect.

Great beach to walk and jog, although the water can come right up to the cliffs and not leave dry ground. Nice amenities include concession stand/rental shop, large public bathrooms and outdoor showers. Friendly for those with mobility considerations.

Had such a great time at this beach today! It was recommended to us for our out of state visit. They are currently prepping the sand for spring break and summer so some parts are blocked off. There’s a new concession stand w a very nice man. Great coffee and snow cones! Bathrooms are SO clean and new. The park was also v new too. Today there were quite a lot of rocks w the high tide but still fun. And loved the cool black sand! We also saw a group of dolphins playing and surfing.

Great beach. Not as busy as more touristy areas. Great playground for kids as well. We stayed at the Moonlight Motel right up the street which was awesome! We will definitely visit again.

One of the more hidden gems in SD, except to locals. Encinitas is just the right vibe balance. Moonlights parking not too bad, great volleyball, walk down the beach some not too crowded, bluffs behind you. Good food and bars within walking distance Overall one of my favorite spots for SD beaches

I love love this beach its one of the nice of many beaches in SD parking was ez to find . Restrooms could use a lil more maintaining but the locals should help keep it clean too . Life guards are quick in action and on top of patrol .
the beach itself is clean as well water was nice and clear .
The view for the sunset was amazing fire pits on point!!
