So I don’t really post on facebook about anything anymore but I strongly feel like I should share the best restaurant experience I’ve ever had. After years of settling for low quality sushi (which actually steered me away from seafood for a hot min) today I had the best sushi you will ever get in El Paso and surrounding areas. You won’t get fresher or better tasting fish anywhere else. I highly recommend Sumo Sushi, so if you’re ever in the area drop by..I’m sure you won’t regret it.
Food is absolutely delicious, awesome service. Definitely we will come back, and will recommend to family and my friend's.
This is, in my opinion, the best sushi restaurant in town. I have been all over El Paso because I love sushi. I am never have been disappointed by this place. It has become our family's go to sushi place. The staff is great.
I've been dining at Sumo for years! This is by far the best sushi in town. The food is always fresh, well served, and I have NEVER had to return anything. Servers change often but service never lags. Highly recommended!
It has never failed us. I like to try all the sushi places. Some are pretty freaking awesome, some are good and I return to them, and some just are not all that great. For El Paso there are two places I recommend Sumo Sushi being one of them. There are some places that the Sushi is pretty good but the service leaves much to be desired. I've been to a sushi restaurant (Makoto Sushi) where myself and my boyfriend waited for 10-15 minutes and when a table opened up they gave it to two others who just walked through the door. And I've been to a place (Katsura Sushi) where we had to ask for both wasabi and ginger, the three make a trifecta, its just was wrong. At Sumo the sushi is well made, the sushi chef obviously has much pride in his work, and the service is awesome! If you are looking for an extravagant and out of the ordinary roll, you won't find it here but you will get traditional, quality, deliciousness, and excellent service each time.
Best place in town for quality sushi!. I have always been hesitant to eat sushi throughout my life as I had a bad incident when I was younger. Recently, I tried Sumo Sushi with friends and I have to say that it is REALLY good. I have started to eat sushi and tried many restaurants in El Paso but there really isn't one like Sumo Sushi. The food was fresh and the waitresses were very friendly. I come here at least once a week and love it! Be warned though: if you are looking for border fusion sushi, do NOT come here as Sumo Sushi is very authentic and made with quality fish. The chef has probably been making sushi his entire life!
Good sushi for El Paso. I have gone here a few times and it's pretty good for El Paso. I really like all of the rolls here. Like I read in another review the other day. You really can't compare El Paso to anywhere on the coast, so don't try.
Deliciousness. I fell in love with some of the amazing rolls they had available. Typical rolls like most sushi places, but the freshness was amazing. I would highly suggest to not get the fried rice though, the frozen veggie mix doesn't do it for me. The service was ok, it's a small place so it wasn't too busy.
Among top 3 in El Paso. Arrived @ 6:30 on a Wednesday - maybe 3 other tables seated. Very quiet. The venue is also larger than you might guess from the outside. The storefront looks almost tiny but inside opens up to a deep, square dining room with standard but tasteful Japanese decor. Tables are solid as a rock - a BIG plus when handling sushi! No annoying or obviously cultural music playing and one TV tucked away in a corner. The Miso starter was simple and delicious and nice and warm. Most of the rolls are $7-$10, handful of specialty rolls are $10, and other typical fare (didn't catch the prices). Taste: fresh, not overpowering, nice finish. We ordered California, Tempura, and Crunchy shrimp - all delicious. The Crunchy Roll was over 2" tall and quite substantial with a subtly sweet glaze. Didn't even need soy sauce. The chef who was rolling looks like he's straight from Japan, which is what you want to see. Wait staff friendly and attentive and let us enjoy our evening. I hope they keep this up because I am definitely going back again... and again. Three thumbs way, way up! You gotta hit this place up.
Don't forget to tip your servers.
Sincerely,
A Former Server
Best suchi in town, no kidding. It's always fresh and the service is good. I went Downtown to The Garden -- and what a mistake for suchi. Stay on the Eastside and go to Sumo Suchi.
Good tradition sushi, fresh fish and good prices...none of that border fusion crap!
The Best. I have eaten at many sushi places in El Paso and in my opinion this one is the best. It has the freshest Sashimi I have ever been served. The squid salad is delicious not at all rubbery or chewy. The service is very good, the place is clean, and the chef almost always will send over a little something extra if you show your appreciation. If you work in the area like I do, get yourself a take out menu and pick up the combo plate on your way home one night. Just as good at home too!
Hole in the wall that was a surprise to find a clean and delicious experience. Every roll was excellent. The El Paso roll is very unique and warm. Squid salad was a lovely way to start. Quality on their sushi is what I can say.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit! The rice was fragrant and warm on the rolls. The tempura tasted beautifully seasoned and the seaweed salad was plentiful for a single order. The salmon was buttery and the tuna a nice bright color for the sashimi.
The miso soup was on point and did not taste burnt or old. The service was quick, attentive and informative. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Great as always! Wonderful owners, food comes out quick and tastes amazing. Sushi is the closest I've had to when I lived in Japan than anywhere else I've ever been!
Imma be honest with you 💯 the food is amazing, service is great especially when you have multiple servers/waitresses attending to your needs. I do have to be honest it's pricey but if it's once and awhile or maybe even only on special occasions it's definitely worth it tons of roll options from fried to fresh uncooked tuna!
Awesome sushi fresh and great tasting. To bad I didn't take pictures. Totally recommend
Every year for 5 years me and my husband have called this our favorite dinner date spot. The sushi is always amazing, best in El Paso and even in the pandemic where I thought quality may drop, the continue to surprise with amazing service and food quality. This was our take home spread and man oh man I will never stop loving this place. 😍
Great go-to for Sushi when on the East part of town. The courteous service is a plus.
Excellent service good food I recommended
Food here is always prepared fresh when you order it, which is great. Service is great. Staff is always helpful in getting you what you need. Great tasting food and a great atmosphere as well.
Loved the sushi here! Quality! I had to giggle at the service as it was clearly the owner's child and teens make funny waiters 🤣❤️. The salmon nigiri is my fav! 🔥
