Went to Gussie's for the first time with my family since I was driving by. My daughter picked out an assortment of cookies and pastries while I purchased a pastel de tres leches, since their tres leches is one of the best in El Paso. I paid and we went out to the car where my wife was waiting. Inside the car, my daughter opened up the bag with the cookies and gave one to my wife and after she finished the cookie, had me immediately go back inside to purchase more! 😆👍
If you see the picture, it was one of those cookies with the red filling in the middle.
Went today to buy pan dulce but there were no trays to put the bread on. Told that the trays had to be washed. After about 10 minutes I was told that they were still being washed. I expressed from frustration that I thought they were making them. Staff member said that maybe I didn't have a good Christmas as I was sour. Wow what a critical remark for their lack of preparation. Maybe wash what is needed before you open for business. When you are not prepared don't blame a customers frustration for wanting over 10 minutes on your lack of preparation for having a bad Christmas. What do you expect, just swallow it. Maybe your not ready to work with customers if you can't take criticism for your lack of preparation.
Definite five-star establishment. Their displays were absolutely loaded with pastries, even though I went in the evening. I ordered a few plus some donuts and they were all super fresh and delicious. I also ordered a bunch of tamales and they were also really good, definitely plumper than what I expected.
Best tamales ever. The staff is super friendly and can answer all your questions. I got the pork tamale and the green chili cheese tamale. They are big, two will definitely fill you up. I was so full I brought my chocolate sweet bread home. That was fantastic and recommended to me by the woman behind the counter. The food is very affordable so make sure you leave a good tip!!
Bought two dozen tamales at the last minute, they were really good and hot (temperature). Also bought some tortillas de harina and they were pretty good as well.
Bought a bagfull of tamales on a recommendation from a friend, and they did not disappoint! Some of the best I've had.
Stopped by a couple of days ago and bought red pork tamales and have to admit that they were amazingly delicious! To be honest they’re one of the best I’ve tried from any other bakery in El Paso. Their sweet bread was also very good, I would highly recommend this bakery to anyone.

Wished you all did not fight about the tamales ordered...please, don't involve your customers either! We love your products and we need to keep coming back! Thank you.
Sizeable red chili pork and green chili chicken tamales, joined by equally large generously raisined sweet tamales. A wide variety of traditional baked delights, bolillos and with menudo on the weekends, hard to go wrong here.
Both red and green varieties were very flavorful although may be milder than some prefer. Loved the toothsome maranos as well!
Best tamales in El Paso!
Delicious cheese and green chile tamales and mini pineapple empanadas!
