I've been wanting to eat here for a long time, and was the opportunity finally arose when I bought two fundraising tickets to help pay medical bills for a sick child. This is one indication of the tremendous community relationship this fine eatery has. What made it particularly nice for me was that I pedaled here on a late Saturday afternoon after having had a particularly strenuous morning of home maintenance on the North fence, and was in desperate need of good nutrition.
What better place than this exceptional Mexican restaurant?! I pedaled up (literally) their driveway from Pendale under a partly cloud covered sky, parking on the large cement apron in front of the generous plate glass windows (bike racks for uprights have yet to be installed, but my Doublevision is a stand-alone machine). Of course, this is also a desirable space for exterior/smoking area, plenty of room for both! Going through the entrance, I was heartily greeted, referred to any open table--many were full--and was soon the waitress had brought tortilla chips & salsas. Since I already had tickets for enchiladas, an immediate departure was absolutely unnecessary, especially since if I stayed, I could enjoy a cup of delicious tortilla soup. Univision was on the flat screen, with the FC Juarez football contest going strong.
I was overwhelmed with the entire wholesome friendliness, the appropriate ambiance, and has my complete "Wheel of Approval"!
How can you talk about the flavor on the food lady if the service was never rendered to you for calling the restaurant and demanding service!
The have really really good shrimp coctails!! That's what I always get... My husband has tried.. Nachos, wings, burgers, and tacos and stated their all very good. Love that they have a drive thru. Not a place to have a romantic lunch/dinner but casual to just go.
We love the food from this place, the portions are good, I totally recomend the shrimp cocktail and the tortilla soup is so delicious.
We were seated right away, treated very well and the food is ALWAYS excellent.
From the outside, it doesn't look like much. But inside, it's spacious. They start you off with a complimentary small bowl of tortilla soup, which was so good we got a large to go afterwards. Chips and salsa were what you expect. Queso Fundido with chorizo was very, very thick and hard to separate, so you will battle with it. Emoladas! Best in El Paso! Thick sauce, not watery. Very good, authentic dish. Chile Rellenos, the same! Huge servings, as well. The server only spoke Spanish, so that's their only ding. We'll be back!
I was up in El Paso for a brief moment, hadn't seen a family member and kids in over 2 years. El Paso has so many choices to make it was a bit hard to decide where we could enjoy dinner together. My cousin recommended El Texano. I am very happy that she did. Although it was pretty late in the evening it was open and we were immediately welcomed in at our arrival. Our waiter was not only very courteous but patient while we all decided what we would choose for our meal and in the meantime he not only brought chips, green and red salsa, but also brought us each a cup of tortilla soup which was on the house for us to taste. Honestly I have never tried tortilla soup before, to my surprise it was my favorite item of the evening! It had a great taste and was absolutely satisfying. It wasn't long after he brought us our entrees. My little cousin and I ordered a small shrimp cocktails each. I'm pretty picky when it comes to shrimp I like my shrimp to be extremely clean. I was extremely happy to find it wasn't only very clean but the small was more like a large portion with plenty of shrimp and avocado! El Texano was absolutely worth it!!!
We stopped at this restaurant after a long day. The food was average but the service was great. Very limited menu. You can’t replace meat type in any of the dish. It is what it is. Didn’t like that. Fresh food always has options to switch the meat type or add extra veggies in there. I wanted the chicken Chili Rallano, answer was no they only had beef. Similarly with other items ending up getting chicken tostadas, they were good. The fries we ordered on the side were very oily, like in the plate there was about two table spoons of oil. Their on the house Tortilla soup was awesome. Probably the best item I had in this restaurant.
Haven't ate here in awhile....so I wanted authentic Mexican lunch....I ordered the menudo..it was okay not bad. Wish it had more of a chile (red flavor). I ordered the tripitas....it was fried crunchy to perfection. The only thing is that it had a "gritty" texture. With the plate it came with a salad and rice. The rice could have had more flavor...a bit dry. Overall the experience wasn't bad at all.
I had the potato and eggs breakfast, with the papas a la mexicana. The person I was with had the El Texano breakfast. Everything was delicious, generous servings, and both breakfasts came with arroz con leche while we waited for our food to come out.
Possibly a new favorite breakfast spot in the area for me!
The chile relleno and chicharron burritos are my favorite!! I have ordered from other restaurants and nothing compares to this restaurant. Also the chicken tortilla soup 🤗 yum 🤤 if you like it spicy. They have a drive through for your convenience.
This is a good resteraunt for authentic Mexican dishes. Whether you prefer fast tacos or shrimp coctail or comida corrida to fill your belly thier hearty servings will fill you up.
Dinner comes with thier soup of the day. Wonderful flavor but I'm a chili wimp so if you like spicy it's hot to trot. Crispy fresh made tostadas and salsas. They also serve alcohol, have live music sometimes and feature breakfast.
Sometimes servive is slow with only obe server and sometimes there's several quick on thier feet. They also have party dishes at very decent prices.
This place is great! Atmosphere is chill and cool but the staff is also really friendly. I also ordered for a birthday party and food was delicious and it got delivered right on time, you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. Food is pretty good, for their prices it’s 100% worth it.
