You never disappoint... Always wonderful! Last summer, we had a friend from York (Northern England) come along with us for dinner and some time in the pub. She was very impressed with the authenticity of your menu and the atmosphere. When anyone asks me where the nicest place is for dinner, I always answer "The English Inn".

This was our honeymoon night and we had the ultimate dinner every bite was fantastic. Prime rib was cooked perfectly and the lobster stuffed walleye was amazing. Salad dressing was a light citrus vinaigrette there was goat cheese and walnuts in the salad. The carrot cake was great but the creme brulee was the best I have ever had. Our room in the cottage was beautiful and had a gas fireplace a Jacuzzi tub and a covered porch . The mimosa breakfast this morning was wonderful. Already planning on when we can go back

The English Inn provided exceptional service, breathtaking scenery, and excellent food and drinks. We couldn’t have chosen a better venue for our wedding day! It was magical and breathtaking. We went with their diamond package, reserved the entire day, had our ceremony and reception there, and reserved cottages for multiple nights. Their event coordinator, Adriana, exceeded our expectations with so many details it’s difficult to list everything. One special, beyond expectation moment was how she helped coordinate our marriage certificate signing within the library, complete with champagne and hors devours from the cocktail hour, for an intimate moment with our immediate family members. All staff made great impressions on us and our guests. We had many guests stay at the Inn for the weekend, and all of them were highly impressed. The grounds and estate have been very well maintained, including being freshly mowed the morning of. We’d also like to highlight the kitchen crew and bar staff; they were on top of it! Everyone enjoyed their meals and couldn’t get enough of the specialty cocktails. Overall, we feel and heard from our guests that our wedding was magical, and we know a great deal of that came from the hard work of The English Inn and its staff. It really isn’t possible to write out all the positive feedback we feel and heard from our guests – without writing a book!

Went in October of 2023 for an anniversary dinner, we did not stay the night, but had dinner in the dinning room. The atmosphere was just what it looks like, a bygone era of English Country estate's. Warm and inviting, staff where so friendly and kind, our meal was amazing, seasoned well, meat cooks perfectly and such an amazing way to spend a lovely evening to celebrate an anniversary. I can not recommend the Enlish Inn enough for a fabulous meal, looking forward to staying the night soon in the future!

Compliments to the English Inn for a great dining experience that our group had on Sat. Dec. 2, 2023. We have dined there on several occasions in the past, but this particular time was so special and "Tiffany", our server contributed to that experience. She was pleasant & attentive. The food was tasty, however, a few of the dinners could have been warmer, but not bad.

Finding the perfect venue to get married is a lot harder than you may think. Until you find the English Inn! From the first appointment that we met with the wedding coordinator Adrianna, we felt taken care of. The pricing for a full service meal, with open bar for our 70 guests, was more reasonable than most people would think. However, it was the service, the food, the ambiance that made it worth every penny. The grounds are beautiful in Aug. The service incredible. If you are looking for the "Perfect" wedding venue... Look no further. It is also one of the most romantic places in the area for a date night. I highly recommend the romance package, with dinner, a room and breakfast!

All around amazing experience! We stayed one night at the English Inn while touring for the wedding venue. Right away we were greeted by everyone working in the Inn/restaurant and shown to our room. We stayed in the Chelsea antique room and loved it! The room was charming and cozy, with modern amenities (AC) and an updated bathroom. We had drinks at the pub before dinner (loved the elderflower spritz). Dinner was a great experience and worth every penny. We were served bread, and then ordered two appetizers; baked Brie and the escargot. Salads before dinner, we enjoyed the prime rib and scallops, and then ended the night with crème brule. In the morning we were brought coffee to our door, and then enjoyed breakfast downstairs. The only complaint we had was that breakfast took a very long time, but the French toast was very good. The gardens are so charming and it’s such a nice, quiet getaway. Thank you to the staff for our wonderful stay!

A beautiful wedding venue! The grounds and the main building are gorgeous, the food is wonderful. The service is stellar. The guest rooms, not the best experience. Our room was claustrophobic, it was cramped and the windows faced a main drive/walkway, so the shades had to be closed. The walls were thin and the other guests could be heard, it felt like they were in the same room. The bed was very firm and uncomfortable. The "updated" bathroom had a tiny shower. Walking from the room building to the main building for meals was treacherous.

We had a wonderful dinner at The English Inn. The grounds, buildings and rooms are beautiful. Even though we did not stay overnight, we were allowed to look into the room. Each has a different design and layout. All were very nice and comfortable looking. The restaurant was very beautiful inside with old classic charm. Our waitstaff took excellent care of us. They gave good recommendations and were fast and efficient. The food was incredibly tasteful and nicely presented. The cost was on the high end but you certainly got what you paid for at this venue. I would highly recommend that you try it out. It was our favorite restaurant on this trip to Michigan!

Our wedding was back on September 25, 2022. My now husband and I arrived the day before with a few of our wedding party, and got to enjoy dinner in the pub, which was absolutely delicious, with great eats and amazing drinks and good times all-around. The next day, wedding time! The coordinator was beyond wonderful, despite having had a last minute change from Adrianna, it was taken over by Summer and her team! Transitioning was without flaw and we are thankful for that for sure. Getting ready and being excited, nervous, anxious, full of joy and bliss, everything was perfect. And while it did rain, as they say, “when you tie the knot on your wedding day, and the knot is getting wet, it's impossible to untie a wet knot.” A family friend told us that on our wedding day, and made me realize that it was my Mom, who passed in 2016, that was there, crying her tears of joy and love for our marriage. And while that did force us into having an indoor wedding, it was beautiful and amazing nonetheless. The entire experience was wonderful; the communication between the florist, the kitchen staff, the Inn staff and myself and my husband was also quite lovely. However, there were a few issues that were in need of addressing towards the end of the night, and they are the only reasons for this review being 4 out of 5. 1. The favors for our guests, near the end of the night, were seen being thrown out by unknown staff at the reception hall. We were informed but not before it was too late to retrieve them. 2. There were specific appetizers that my husband and I wished to partake of during dinner, which were brought to our sweetheart table, but thrown away during the reception before I could even taste one of them. 3. Our dinner plates were thrown out while we were going about talking and interacting with friends and family and dancing to the DJ's music before we could properly finish our meals. 4. Once more regarding food; our wedding cake pieces on our sweetheart table were also thrown out before either my husband or myself could get more than a few bites of them. 5. And lastly, at the end of the reception, the mad, mad, dash, dash rush to get everyone out and the hall cleaned up was simply insane. While I don't mind having to be out, it felt like we were making such a crazed race to close up quickly that we were being shoo'ed out, even if it wasn't uttered vocally. Other than the five reasons above, the entirety of the wedding, reception, and experience was without flaw and quite beautiful and wonderful. Memories that my husband and I and all of our friends and family are sure to cherish, and I simply am in love with the English Inn, despite what had transpired that was a bit off-putting as the bride of the event. If you do plan to get married here, HIGHLY recommended! Just be sure to let the staff know to not throw out any of your favors and to not touch any of the food at your table. :) I'm sure you'll want to eat everything after mingling with your family and friends, too.
