I don't even know what to say...this was, hands-down, the best burger I have eaten in my 53 years on the planet. No lie. Everything about this place is fantastic; the staff was helpful and kind, double- and triple-checking to make sure we were completely satisfied, fixing an order that WE placed wrong on OUR end without even blinking, and giving us an experience we won't soon forget.
It's not the cheapest place to eat in the region, but again, I'm telling you, it's the best food of its kind I've ever had. It was totally worth every penny we spent. If you're looking for cheap fast food, you have plenty of options, but if you're looking for a handcrafted burger or dog, and you want to eat somewhere that you'll remember fondly for more than 30 seconds, trust me...this is where you want to go.
HIGHLY recommended.
We love the food, the staff and the atmosphere!! They seriously have the best burgers around!! Made to order and always the freshest ingredients!! We are”locals” and recommend the Wienery to all of our friends!!
It's sketchy on the outside, dare I say on the inside too but it is what it is and it's an adventure! The staff are friendly, give great recommendations and the food is unexpectedly good. It's worth a visit but know that it's not a white tablecloth type of place. It's a casual, informal, paper plate, plastic tray counter service, picnic style table place with fancy fries, burgers and wieners. It's great!
Great sausages here
Even better crispy fried potatoes
The beer list is great
Amazingly you can also get some Pappy van Winkle too!
Worth the drive up from Watkins Glen for sure
We heard about this place before we left for our FLX trip, so we made it a point to stop here on our way outta town. Great simple concept, and a surprisingly superb bourbon selection with very fair prices. The highlight of the place is def the friendly and welcoming lady working the counter. Couldn’t have been better service. Now, the food. The best was the bratwurst. Big link and tasty. A little dry imo so maybe not enough fat. But overall was easily the best item. The homemade mustard was pasty thick and very little bite. The burger and hot dog buns were pretty dry. The burger had a creative topping, but the meat was torched. The hot dog itself was pretty average tbh. I was surprised by this because if you’re calling yourself “Weinery”, make sure the weiners blow people away. The chili was overwhelming with tomato paste and just not much flavor. I’ve been to a boatload of gourmet dog places around this country and this place doesn’t even sniff the conversation as one of the standouts. Supposedly a Michelin star chef opened this joint. I feel bad but gotta say that I agree with some of the reviews that say it was very average since they were expecting so much better food. I understand the prices, everything is high cost these days with labor, product, inflation, fixed costs, etc. So the prices are not shocking at all and are to be expected. Just look at the pic though of the reviews in the bathroom. Def written by a sensitive chef. Bad reviews are a nature of the biz, you can’t win everyone over. Read those reviews and tell me how they are “slanderous”? Slanderous is like someone who didn’t even eat there and trashes your biz with lies, not people giving you some honest tough love about your food. Again, I gotta agree with some of those assessments, but of course a Michelin chef will get their panties in a bunch about any criticism at all. Maybe the kitchen had an off day like every place does once in awhile. They were very kind people and I do wish them continued success. If most of the patrons and regulars are happy, then that’s what matters most. I don’t feel the need to hurt anyone’s biz, so that’s the 5 stars.
Excellent roadsite lunch spot! The bratwurst was to die for, the traditional German mustard was delicious. 10/10 would also recommend the chili poutine!
I loved the juxtaposition of unassuming roadside hot dog stand with a wine fridge containing Grand Cru Bordeaux and a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle. The fries are incredible. The dogs good. The staff knowledgeable and friendly. What a cool roadside attraction. My only regret is that this good review won't make the wall of fame in the bathroom because I have nothing awful to say and no vitriol to spew.
What can I say? Like a typical, hole in the wall, mom & pop place it's was great. The Brat was traditional German style with a very good German style brown mustard. I was feeling adventurous and got the chili poutine, which was very good, with seasoned fried potatoes, highly peppered gravy (which I can understand people not being fans of) and delicious cheese and chili. The prices might be a little high, but considering the flashbacks I got of my trip to Germany, completely worth it. Highly recommend for those that have taste buds for diverse food styles instead of everyday Americanized food.
Great food. Staff was extremely accommodating, taking time to answer our questions.
I can't say enough good things about this place! The food is so diverse and amazing. Combinations of toppings that I never would have thought of. The staff is so friendly and even offered our dog a bowl of water. Highly recommend!
LOVES this place !! The staff was super helpful- BEST BURGER ! Cooked sooo nicely ! With Goat cheese and a fried egg !! Nice breeze outside. Husband enjoyed his hot dogs and fries were so crisp ! They had an AMAZING BOURBON selection. Good wine and beer ! A MUST spot to stop at. We are super healthy eaters but for a chest day this was perfect !! Keep up the good work !!! We will be back :):)
If you weren't a fan of having weiners in your face already, this place might change your mind. If you still can't get over that, they have other tasty things to stuff your foodhole with, like burgers and such. Quality food, creative and classic toppings alike, and lots of staple sides. Also booze. They have booze. Enjoy!
