My hubby and I tried the Wagegon for the first time tonight. We both had the Filet Mignon. It was prepared to perfection! It was honestly the best steak that I have ever had. I had it with the wild rice and the rice was also delicious. Our server was very friendly and accomodating. I have a seafood allergy and they made sure I was safe and I actually trusted them to care for me and that is a rare thing for me when I eat out anywhere. The mural inside is an amazing work of art. I didn't realize that it was considered Superior, WI and they had some slot machines and other games. I was very impressed.
Been there for the Friday fish fry a few times which was great, but I finally tried the Thursday rib special. Holy cow, it was way above expectations (which already were high.) The beans where 2nd next to my grandma's (obviously hers will be #1), the baby red potatoes were better than what i could ever make, even with the fresh parsely and garlic.

I got amazing service here. If you want the fish fry during Lent, call ahead (or message them on Facebook like I did!) and not only make a reservation, but specifically mention you want the fish fry. The lady who I talked to was super accommodating and not only set aside fish for me, but even saved me a baked potato! Several other disappointed patrons either left or had to order something else because they were out of fish; this was around 7 pm. I overheard a server saying they planned to order way more fish for the following Friday, though. The fish was done just how I like it (crispy and not overly battered), and their homemade tartar sauce was yummy. I also enjoyed a Spotted Cow on tap. Being "the only bar in WI you can only get to from the MN side" makes this place unique.
It has a nice, typical WI bar feel to it so if that's what you're looking for, you won't be disappointed. My husband described it as "in the middle of nowhere," which I think adds to the experience :D This place is bigger than it looks when you first walk in, as there's a dining room separate from the bar area. Highly recommended!
Had a great fish fry here last weekend! Just on the Wisconsin side of the St Louis River,.and right next to Mont do Lac Ski and Rec area.
I can't say enough about the FANTASTIC service! Sat at the bar, and the bartender was one of the best servers ever. I was using a gift certificate, and didn't bring cash to top. I offered to buy something else just so I could leave a nice tip. He says, "It's all good. Pay it forward, and double the next server." I'll tell that story 100 times.
The fish was great and the service was good despite being packed. Fish Fry Friday during lent I recommend a reservation. Also despite driving through Minnesota it is in Wisconsin and has Spotted Cow. The building itself could use repair but the fish fry is great!
Wonderful atmosphere! Far enough out of Duluth and superior that you don't deal with city people. And close enough to simply drive to. Just down the road and you never even knew it!!! Highly recommend this place :)
Finally a place where the shrimp tasted great. Some places ace just got plain batter. This might be my new spot. Lots of competition especially with Anchor Bar and there Burgers!
It was like a dive bar but yet it had a great restaurant outdoorsy feel to it. They have a very limited menu that is cohesive and goes with the outdoor feel. And on Fridays with the all-you-can-eat fish fry it is amazing. Great staff very friendly and a very clean feel to the overall experience.
MY WIFE AND I ATE THERE TONIGHT, ITS THE BEST FISH FRY WE HAVE EVER HAD. THE WAITRESS, WAS VERY BUSY ,WHEN OUR FOOD ARRIVED IT WAS HOT & FRESH AND DELICIOUS.
