Great local bakery selling some awesome freshly made bread to make sandwiches at home.
You can also get some tasty breakfast, or lunch sandwiches made with your favorite bread.
They also have soups, coffee, a limited amount of cookies and a few jelly spreads for sale.
The service is phenomenal, and they treat you as if you've been coming here for years, even if it's your first time.
I also enjoyed the free bread samples, it allowed me to get a better idea on what kind of bread I wanted to use for my sandwich.
I also truly enjoyed the atmosphere in the place, it's laid back with great music playing in the background.
The only negative is that they don't have doughnuts, cakes or any other sweet pastries.
The only negative, is that they only have very limited street parking and it's for only 15 minutes before the police gives a citation.
Today was the first time I try this place and I wish I tried it way before. Everything was perfect, their bread is delicious! I tried the breakfast sandwich and it was fresh and so tasty. Their iced coffee was also really good. The best part was the people that work there, the cashier was super friendly and made this visit one hundred percent better. Also the location is great as it’s right by the Main Street. I highly recommend this place!
This place has delicious bread, but also incredible customer service! Everyone I've interacted with has been so kind and helpful, and Denise truly went out of her way to make sure I got the bread I had been craving. Don't skip the cinnamon swirl bread or the Asiago foccacia either - but everything I've had has been amazing. SO HAPPY this location is here and I recommend to literally everyone I know 💗
I just ate here for the first time and I will definitely be coming back. The food, more specifically the bread, was just fantastic. And to top it off, the staff here genuinely have the most caring employees that I have ever encounter in the food service.
They have delicious sandwiches. Service here is great too — they’re very friendly. They have desserts and more at the counter. Each time I go, they always offer me samples and sometimes even a free item…isn’t that nice? Makes for a friendly atmosphere.
Finally stopped in for a quick lunch and I regret not coming sooner. Everyone who works there is so friendly and so helpful. All wearing masks. Food was unbelievably fresh and scrumptious. Have been back a couple times now and will continue coming back! Lovely environment and love to support local. They also have a rewards program to get a free item! Stop by or you're missing out!

Great Harvest Bread Company is THE place for getting fresh, fluffy bread in all sorts of original and traditional mixes!
I have tried both bread from here, and sandwiches. Let me tell you, I really appreciate a place that has a solid classic menu as well as more experimental breads and sandwiches for the eccentrics like me. I tried both the Popeye and Pumpkin Spice bread. My friend and I split our loot and I took the Popeye home; surprisingly, the loaf stayed moist and fresh for a whole week! You could eat it both plain and toasted, the texture was phenomenal in both aspects. Granted, I refrigerate breads, so your results may vary.
The prices are a little bit higher than what you would expect a loaf of bread to go for in a supermarket, but that is a fair price to pay for fresh bread made every day. The price point may scare away some people, but it really depends what you prioritize. If you wanna grab some bread for a party, this might not be the most cost-effective place to shop in.
This place also has more items than bread. Though I haven't tried their other items, their selection of ready-to-make soup and various sauces look pretty interesting. This little store definitely tickles my food-adventurous fancy!
I frequent the Downers Grove location and my expectations continue to be exceeded every time I stop in. The service is truly wonderful, Denise is usually there and is always extremely helpful and always inviting. I have yet to have a sandwich or bread that I did not love and the cherry almond cookies are a true hidden gem. Step outside your realm and stop in for breakfast or lunch, take in the amazing smells and be sure to enjoy the samples. Great Harvest Bread Co. is the essence of small business America and I am so happy to support them.
I was glad to hear Great Harvest Bread was arriving in downtown Downers this past year. I have purchased many cookies for clients. A great place to being the while family for the sandwiches, smoothies & coffee. The famous chocolate pumpkin bread has a gluten free option that also tastes great! Will be back soon!!
Love their bread. It's thick and hearty. The Baked Potato Bread actually tastes like a baked potato. The Garlic Cheddar bread has junks of cheese and will make your kitchen smell of garlic! My wife likes the nine grain bread for something healthier. Sandwiches are also very good. Try the Bacon/Cheese/Apple or the Chicken Salad (with pecans). Denise always treats us well. You will also see the owner and the family helping out the store on occasion also.
