We stopped there on a whim, and enjoyed it immensely. Unfortunately we had already eaten, as we didn't know they serve food as well. The root beer is great as well as the root beer float my wife had. The food looked and smelled fantastic, we will definitely try the food next time we are by there. They have picnic table set up for people to eat at, it's just a cool experience all around. I talked to a very pleasant young man you seem to be one of the ones in charge. He was very nice, and invited us to come back anytime. We would highly recommend.

Okay boys and girls, this place is worth the visit. It's cool, dogs are fantastic and the service, even though you can't really see them in that barrel, was amazing. Girlfriend had the root beer float and said it was the best she has had in a long time! Oh and I bought a tee shirt and she got it free!!! They gave my dog treats, that's right, not one but 3 treats, free!!! Who does that these days? He was a very happy boy! So please do yourself a Hugh favor and check this place out. You can thank me later!

It was very busy on a hot day. You order at one window and pickup at another. There are screened picnic tables and other seating. Lots of umbrellas and they had a misting fan. Of course there was a wait, but as busy as they were it didn't seem too bad. The staff was all exceptionally friendly. The food was delicious, and I felt it was reasonably priced for the portions.

Dune dog, kraut dog, mac & cheese with bacon, walking taco with extra jalapenos, chocolate cookie, large root beer. $30'ish bucks before tip. Food was delicious, sprecher root beer always a treat. Nets covering umbrellas and tables during bee season, very thoughtful. Early Tuesday afternoon lunch at end of August makes for small crowd, quick service, ample parking.

Nostalgic roadside root beer stand updated and fun! Had brat special and classic hot dog with mustard. Root beer float and great picnic environment. Kids can play while waiting on line, a bit of a line but worth it. Enjoy!!

Originally built to give beach goers one last treat before they left the sandy shores of Lake Michigan. The root beer barrel was restored and rebuilt to offer the same thirst quenching root beer and tasty yet affordable hot dogs to tourists and locals alike. The building is hard to miss as it is a giant root beer barrel erected right on the way to Douglas beach park. It offers crisp cold root beer from the tap, creatively crafted hot dogs and an array of affordable desserts. The vibes are nice. They have a bunch of picnic style seating and a lot of open area for kids to run around so you can eat and enjoy care free. (This assumes you have kids and constantly have to worry about being judged when you go to eat.) The mac and cheese was also a surprise highlight as was covered in real gooey cheese then baked off to crispy perfection. So if you’re looking for a casual spot to enjoy an affordable meal in a memorable setting get to the Douglas Root Beer Barrel.

This was a cool little stop in Saugatuck, MI. The history was cool to read about as a tourist. The hot dogs were incredible, the root beer was some of the best I've ever had. We loved that they had corn hole boards set up so the kids could play while we waited.

This place is awesome. Great service, plenty of seating, yard games and some killer hot dogs! My wife got a LOADED chili dog and I had one with cream cheese and jalapenos. We will definitely be back to try more! Definitely stop here with your family!
