Crayhouse

I came twice already since their soft opening to try their lunch menu and seafood bucket. Overall, i like it a lot. Hush puppies (side dish) was very flavorful and consistent both times. I love gumbo, and their gumbo was definitely very good and well seasoned. (i feel like it's even better than the gumbo from Whole Food) The ratio for fried seafood and the breading were good and juicy. Seafood bucket is excellent, especially the corn (not to mention the shrimp and mussels there) Staff are very friendly and will definitely come back for more. :) It's 20% off during their soft opening. No alcohol yet, but it should be coming soon...

What can I say? Nice establishment tucked amongst the diversity of Buford hwy. Louisiana/Cajun inspired Eatery. Staff was very nice, but could use a bit more training/refining. Tables seem to lack proper setup. Missing condiments and empty bottles. I was not even aware pepper sauce was an option until I overheard another party request it. Two servers on staff with only 5 booths being utilized. No effort was made to ask me how my meal was until I was ready to leave. None the less I still give it a 4-star rating. Alligator bites were delicious, a very large helping. Oyster poboy was nice too. The oysters were cooked just right. But the batter was a tad on the salty side. Keep in mind, a po-boy is always about the bread. ( I travel to the French Quarters in New Orleans several times every year.) I enjoyed the creaminess of the coleslaw. I will certainly be back and give this place another shot.

Another Buford Hwy gem! I ordered the Crayhouse treasure boil with extra shrimp, instead of crawfish. The shrimp were plump and juicy and grab legs meaty. I loved that they give you more than one corn and potato...ahem other places aren't so generous. There are also plenty of daily food and drink specials. Will definitely be returning!

Full disclosure, I am crazy about crawfish. I make a really mean crawfish etouffee and I love eating whole boiled crawfish. Crayhouse is my new favorite place to get boiled crawfish. I usually order two pounds, Low Country style, then take them home and enjoy with a cold beer. I'm always on my way home from work so I haven't hung around to try anything else on the menu, but I will soon!
