The Best!. Going to Family Treat (aka Tasty Freeze for those of us that have been there a while!) was a "treat" as a kid. They still have THEE best chili fries and footlongs that they've always had. Every time I go to visit my mom, who still lives just down the street, I have to stop there and pick up a footlong on the way home. I think it's wonderful that James and his family have kept the place going for so many years. We need more family businesses like this in the area!

50 YEARS OF FUN FOODS. Southwest Detroit's longest standing ice cream shop, I moved in as a kid four houses behind the place, kinda looked as the picture I posted. The place is much bigger now with a seating area inside. A must try for the foot-longs and chili cheese fries. I love the pineapple shakes and chocolate dipped cones. Taco Tuesday has been a hit for 30 plus years now. The Detroit Bookmobile would park on the corner and the place would be hoppin place to be. Today they just reopened for the season. Fresh food and FRIENDLY service. Great variety of hot foods and delicious ice cream treats. Definitely recommend, and look forward to coming back.
I have lived in Southwest my whole life and this has and will always be my go too spot. Chili cheese fries, chili cheese burgers, and the banana splits man. Can't live without em. The owners are very personable and they hire a lot of school kids to give them first job experience. It's a great place.
They are awesome people been great every time I get over that side of town. I went today and I was short 2$ I forgot it's cash only. Instead of running to the ATM they covered the rest. Just great people I tell you.
Sooooooooo much food, drink, ice cream, and malt/shake wise to choose from . My first time was yesterday, and I'm definitely going to go back to try different stuff. Taco Pie, chili cheese burger, coney dog, and a pop for me.
Very nice to see a long time favorite still up and running after so long. I was able to bring my children to enjoy the ice cream I've enjoyed throughout my childhood.
This is a very special place for a lot of people, my family and I have been coming here for 4 generations, FT has been around a long time, and hopefully this place will still continue to offer great service and food to the community. Thank you all at Family Treat🍦
We go there often my son his girlfriend were there last night great food great service my favorite place to eat i live in brownstown and go to eat there.
Servers were respectful and quick to take my order. The food was cooked and handled meeting Serve Safe standards.
