In a sea of places designed to cater to the mainstream, even in a pre-gentrification Detroit, places that bow down to the almighty sports dollar, that demand of their entertainment a dumbing down, a white wash, a normalization...UFO has always stood out for me as a place where outsider expression was appreciated and encouraged in an environment that was accepting and pushed boundaries that a strictly capitalist venture are not supposed to push. This all happened in a non threatening manner, where if you wanted to dive into "something else," it doesn't matter if you dwell strictly in the underground or not, you can find a wonderful night here. Beautiful relics adorn the walls including an original Magma poster with most vertical surfaces painted silver. A quality sound system delivers live music you won't hear anywhere else. A lovingly curated jukebox keeps the ambience lively and interesting. Always worthy art shows that leaned towards pop. A well stocked bar and delicious food available day or night. Any self respecting urban neighborhood would die to have this sort of touchstone as its centerpiece for years and years. Long live UFO Factory.
Important meeting place for Detroit culture. Great music, art, and food. You can wear a gown or cutoffs and everything in between. Ideas are born here.
This place is fantastic! So many vegan options and the food was amazing and the drink was super good as well! It has a cool atmosphere, I could spend so long here just vibing to music and hanging out
I imagine this is where aliens go to feel human. Out of this world bartenders. They are always respectful and amazing.
The food menu is a hidden gem of Detroit. I highly recommend it. They serve craft cocktails that you would not expect by walking in for the first time.
Looking forward to the roof bar to open back up!
Stopped by here in December at 11 pm after a show for drinks when so many other places had already closed. It’s a fun little hipster dive with friendly bartenders. They had amazing cocktails and a good selection. Clearly most other people came here as well looking for drinks and food after everything else closed.
The UFO style and theme was fun. My only gripe was it felt a little bare bones compared to other types of bars. It could use more to lean into that theme and make it even funkier.
I always have a good time at this bar! The food is great, they have vegan options, and the drinks are amazingggg! The bartenders are usually very friendly, and they’ll occasionally have live music at night! It’s a fun place to hang out and chill! 😉
Hot dogs in a myriads for styles. Cold beer, locals. It’s perfect really. Stop by, you won’t be disappointed. Unless you don’t like low key, dark bars with beer and hotdogs.
A friend recently moved to Corktown and this has been our new go to for a few months when visiting. PBR on tap is my favorite dive bar feature and they have that here. The upstairs patio area is one of the best in the city. The hot dog joint operating inside of this bar will blow you away. The shawarma style hot dog is unmatched.
Very nice place, wish the menu was expanded. Lots of vegan dishes.
The service staff was wonderful and the rooftop area is super cool, I just wish they calmed down the use of the fog machine. Couldn't see more than 3 feet in front of you. No idea what the inside of the bar looks like 🤣
