Steve and his family are celebrating their 40 year anniversary! Great food, in a classic old Detroit home. A great location with a train stop at the corner. They do a magic marinade to the pastrami that sets it ahead of all others. This is a dog friendly place in the summer. A very large patio and sand volleyball courts keeps this establishment busy.

Pizza was great. We went for the pizza, around 5PM on a Friday. We sat downstairs by the bar and got a table right away. As always seems to be the case in non-chainstore Detroit places there were the two dudes at the bar who look like recovering crackheads who are as loud as the rest of the place combined. The pizzeria itself is lacking if you insist only on brand new suburban places. It has character and like it for that. Not the place to go to watch a game on 17 big screens. The outdoor sand volleyball court is suhweeeeet though!

We ordered a sguare deep dish pepperoni with mushrooms and a pitcher of beer. Waitress was fair but not good. Pizza didn't seem to take too long but with the loud dudes at the bar right by us it was easy to lose track of time.

The pizza? Great. Baked all the way through with no doughy center. Cheese crispy on the edges and browned in the middle. Crispy pepperoni on top, sauce with some flavor but not as much as Buddy's. Crust a little greasier than Buddy's.

I would go back.
