Brotula's is the bomb. The Sunday brunch is my favorite. So I took my niece and her fiancee to Brotula's Wednesday night. She had a blackened mahi sandwich which I know doesn't sound exciting but the reason it was is because it's not on their menu. They went the extra step and made it for her. Service at its utmost best. And what made our night even better was our server, Jon. He was on point. If you haven't been there......GO, of you have GO AGAIN. Local at its best. We just FEASTED for Easter brunch and couldn’t be a happier full! The spread was fantastic and you could tell everyone there was busting their butts to make it a successful day. The crawfish were some of the best we’ve had. Chef Tommy’s version of chicken and waffles was chicken dipped in waffle mix and deep fried - and blew my mind in the best way. The meat in my crab legs came out in perfect pieces and this messy-handed-mama was one happy camper � We even watched their sous chef bring a bag of ice to a boy who fell off his razor scooter in the parking lot on our way out. We were excited to visit this restaurant for the first time but overall we were somehow disappointed. Let's get to it. Parking, limited and difficult to find spots. Reservation was easy to make early in the day. Service was okay, our waiter was in a hurry all the time, always thinking about the next stop. I didn't appreciate that. Food was good but nothing very special for the price point, but with the location and atmosphere maybe it's okay.
Here is my big disappointment, prior to ordering the main course we were told that the staff didn't make any wages and a 20% "commission" would be added to the final bill. Well I thought, since i usually give 20% of tips, they were just adding that ahead. Well not so fast, when I got the bill, indeed 20% was already applied but they also prompted and asked for tips. All this in the iPad with the waiter looking at us which felt pressured and didn't like it.
I do not like this business model when business does not add the fixed cost (wages) to their product and services and passes directly to the consumers. I feel that they put pressure on us without a real prior knowledge and an option at that point, and because of that we will not return.
Overall experience was absolutely fantastic. Grace was our server for the evening. We had our food pretty quick and it was all too good. Worth the price by far. Will have to come back every vaca.
The staff was welcoming, we sat outside by the water and watched the boats. The food was yummmmy. We got a Rajun Cajun steamer and a brownie with ice cream. The butter with the steamer — get extra!! It’s gooood. And the brownie is a must try if you love oooh gooey goodness. Our waitress Paige was super friendly and on top of making sure service was great.
My husband and I stopped here for a late lunch. The cobra salad was amazing.
We also had some old fashions. Let me say, they were excellent and the only place so far in Destin that uses the Luxardo cherries.
I plan to visit again
We picked this place cause it’s a little more quiet and not too hectic . Plus no wait when you’re hungry. Nice view of the marina and the services was great. Everything came out perfect and delicious.
The food was phenomenal, and our wonderful waitress was so, so sweet and very attentive to us and our baby girl. We loved it there!
We caught some mango fish and triggerfish and brought them over to Brotula's to have them cooked. Andrea was super friendly and greeted us right away and had great customer service the whole time. The chef did an amazing job cooking our fish as well. It was a delicious experience! Love this place!

Great experience! We had a nice server, because we came from Michigan we thought we wanted to watch outside on the deck since there are heaters. However our server recommended we eat inside because of the winds and I am glad we did. We had great food. The happy hour appetizers were $8 pretzels or $8 fried pickles. They also had $5 margaritas and well drinks for happy hour (3-5..or 6 I can't remember)
Food was so good. My family had the crab legs and it came with corn and potatoes and sausage. They served the food with scissors which was great. We also had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. We actually spilt it between the four of us and it was like a side. Really good. We were too full for dessert.
Now keep in mind this is a proper restaurant and it is not cheap. The market prices are very high..so you may want to ask the price before placing the order (one item was $265)
We don't usually eat at fresh seafood restaurants so we were a little shocked. But it must be the going rate. They also had 20 percent for the servers.
We highly recommend!
This place was recommended to us by our charter captain for the hook and cook special. Very reasonably priced, fish cooked perfectly 3 ways, and excellent sides all around. Great service, atmosphere, and view. We will surely eat here again
Amazing food Crab Cakes were kinda over priced for how many you get but Brotula was amazing it had Lemon Butter Sauce and my wife had Grouper with BBQ potatoes just yumm will be back!
