It seems like a popular spot. However its definitely showing its age; the decor struck me as the kind of place that was popular in the mid-90's. Fish tanks everywhere but some were a little murky. The martini was well made and the key lime pie was dynamite. The lobster bisque was one of the better that I've had specifically for the large chunks of lobster. Staff seemed a little stretched. I observed the bartenders arguing about who was going to restock something--that was a little awkward. The wait staff were nice but not overly welcoming. It was nice to experience a popular spot but neither the food nor the ambiance was particularly memorable. Maybe time for a decor and menu refresh?

Excellent seafood options - upscale food that is flavorful & filling. My anti-seafood company found the steak & bone-in pork chop options to be very good. The atmosphere gives it a cool, fun vibe - massive fish tanks, & hand painted murals. Could use some updated seating. Staff are friendly & attentive. Attention to detail - like writing Happy birthday or anniversary on your plate. Desserts were decadent. Good size portions. Really enjoyed our meal.

Don't recommend at all drinks were less then subpar. Waitstaff seamed like the were more worried about bouncing between tables then serving each party thoroughly. Most of my party was ok ( but less than impressed) with the food my meal was cold and waitress thought I was joking with her when I said that it was. She took it back it was obviously microwaved ( dish hot and food still cold). A place like this shouldn't even own a microwave let alone bring a dish out cold twice. It should have been remade. Seafood was obviously frozen (texture wise) not fresh as advertised. Hope I don't end up with food poisoning from under cooked food.

I really enjoyed the food. The waiter was also very professional and attentive. My wife and I definitely plan to come back. We got the lobster mac and cheese and chillean sea bass, both were excellent.

Such amazing seafood! As fresh as you can possibly get this far away from the ocean. I can sea 😉 why this place is a such a foundational restaurant in Des Moines. The service was phenomenal and I'm looking forward to coming again.

The wife and I stopped in for a nite out meal, and we were blown away. Our server was the 'bomb'. It is spendy but this is one of them times that you get what you paid for. Highly recommend!!!!!

For the price we paid, it wasn’t anything spectacular. Started off with the lobster bisque, which two of us shared and had huge chunks of lobster meat in it. The soup was the highlight of the meal for me. I ordered the Chilean sea bass, but it came out a little undercooked and rubbery and also luke warm. They did put the seabass on the grill a little while longer and then it tasted fairly good and was not rubbery anymore. The asparagus was good, but very very small. The mashed sweet potatoes were good. Overall, entrees not worth it for the price in my opinion, mediocre seafood, but service was great.
