This cafe is an absolute gem. Not only is it cozy with a great view, but the food is incredible. I ate there two days ago and I'm still thinking about it. We had the biscuits and gravy and a breakfast burrito the first day. Hands down the best biscuits and gravy I've had. The gravy was seasoned to perfection with loads of fresh herbs. The biscuits had a crunchy, buttery base and tasted like heaven. My partner had the breakfast burrito and said it was one of the best he's had too. It was so good that we went back the next day. This time we got the salmon bagel and the waffle. The bagel was perfect. The salmon was so fresh and smoked to perfection. Lastly, we had the waffles. These waffles are truly a special creation. They were beautifully presented and had an amazing light custard instead of syrup with fresh fruit. After I took my last bite, I felt very sad that it was gone. You can taste the love in everything created at Whale Bites. We cannot wait to go back and eat everything on the menu!
Stopped in for a quick breakfast. It's order at the counter, and then they call your name. The coffee was nice and strong and hot/fresh. I had a waffle with berries and a vanilla cream sauce (no syrup required)! My husband got a breakfast sandwich on an English muffin. He said it was very tasty. A little pricey for counter service but the food and coffee was very good. I would come here again.
My friend a I came here and got the Pacific Toast & their biscuits and gravy. Best biscuits and gravy I have ever had! DELICIOUS breakfast sandwich, add the avocado it’s worth it, and they have a vegan cheese option!! The smoothies were SO GOOD and I can’t do dairy & got mine without yogurt and it was still so creamy and amazing. The PB&J we got to go and it is the yummiest one I’ve ever had. The owners are so kind & hospitable!! 10/10 would highly recommend. I would come back to this area just for this cafe!!
What an amazing place in Depoe Bay! So adorable and quality fresh ingredients. All the food was amazing and I loved seeing they had vegan/vegetarian options too!
Addition to my review. It was so good we decided to go back for our last lunch. This time I got the pacific toast and boy it did not disappoint! This place just hits it out of the park!
Very nice and cozy cafe. The food was outstanding! My wife had the Sunrise breakfast sandwich and I had the Sunrise breakfast burrito. Both were equally delicious!!! And they'll fill you up! This is definitely a place we'll go when we return!
I could probably eat their Pacific Toast daily for the rest of my life! Amazing locally sourced fresh ingredients, it is already vegan but you can also add vegan sausage or egg. The vegan chili is delicious and filling. Honestly everything I have had has been wonderful. The staff are the nicest folks you could hope to meet.
Cute coastal vibes inside, but if the weather is nice the outside patio or dining area down the hill is spectacular. You can sometimes see whales while you eat or watch the adorable harbor seals.
This place is under new ownership and is absolutely KILLING IT.
Best food for miles, best vibe around, and everything you would want from a cafe on the coast.

LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The food is friggin rad. Julia and Josh and so amazing and the kindness people. We come here all the time. So excited for it to re open come December.
They are GF good, vegan food, meat food, all the goods. To die for biscuits and gravy. I dream of this place, rock on you guys.
Stopped by Depoe Bay to visit some friends (I’m not usually one to write reviews, but was inspired when showing photos of my trip to my students). The location, right by the water + they have a a patio extension = gorgeous. Tried the salmon bagel & it was love at first bite! Ordered a similar item from another cafe & later on a coffee from different local cafe & was let down by both of those but I was a repeat customer at Whale Bites (& will continue to be in future trips) - also, the greeting cards seen in one of my photos feature incredible art! (Art on their menu boards was amazing too). If you’re into big spice, ask for their house-made habanero salsa 🔥
TLDR: Staff is awesome, location is gorgeous, art is stunning, food is bomb!
I can’t say enough good things about this place!! Just absolutely incredible food. The ingredients were all so fresh and you can definitely tell the quality of the products used in each menu item are top notch. I had the biscuits and gravy and it was hands down the best I have EVER had. The gravy had big chunks of sausage, so much depth in flavor and paired so perfectly with the lightly sweet and perfectly soft biscuit! And I added bacon and an egg and the bacon was thick, cooked perfectly, and had a lightly maple flavor.
My friend had the Pacific Toast and it was also out of this world. The hummus was so fresh and added a great tanginess to the sandwich. Everything about it was just perfect.
The owners have seriously outdone themselves with this place…I don’t think you’ll find a better little breakfast place on the coast if I’m being honest.
