AMAZING food both times I have been here. The owner, Tim, is great/very personable and has paid close attention to detail in making this a wonderful piece of home away from home (from decor to menu fyi service and everything in between). Classic supper club glasses, phenomenal brandy old fashioneds, huge portions, great cod for Friday night fish fry with a perfectly light breading and positively delicious sides (potato cakes, coleslaw, sweet corn and mashed potatoes were all a huge hit). Everything my group ordered was amazing including massive fried chicken portions and a tender and juicy pork chop! HIGHLY recommend! I'll be back many times!!
The Shanty Supper Club is 5 Star.
To start the review I will start with a warning - a good one in my eyes - this restaurant is super chill and relaxed. They have a feel good home environment with delicious food.
Reason for that warning is when you walk in - this restaurant will be different than your every day chain restaurant. The team at Shanty’s is super nice and want you to enjoy your dinner. So when we arrived we were greeted and told to pick a table and have a seat and that they would follow us to our chosen table. We actually LOVED this because we didn’t have to be cramped in a corner we shared the wall booth with a great view of the bar and mural.
Next our waitress brought us some beautiful drinkware for our water and gave us the menus. The menu is super cool and all of the food looks delicious. We came in for Restaurant Week so while we plan on coming back for sure to try more we stuck to our predetermined selections.
For our Appetizers, we got Pretzel Bites and Fried Cheese Curds of course. Because I promise if you go to a Wisconsin Restaurant and don’t get cheese curds - then are you really living? The mustard sauce that comes with the pretzel bites is soooo good - better than the cheese sauce in our opinion. And the cheese curds - OH MY CURD - they were delicious, with the chewy cheese I remember from Madison WI.
Next we went for the Chicken Pot Pie and the Fried Chicken for our Entrees. Neither disappointed. The Pot Pie was a deconstructed pot pie but oh sooo delicious. It comes with two puff pastries and a rich cream sauce filled with steamed vegetables, mushrooms, and chicken. The Fried Chicken comes with two sides and 3 pieces of “Shanty” fried chicken. The chicken was juicy and the flavor was good too. I got mashed potatoes and sweet corn for my sides. I would say for the sides could use a little more salt, but I may just like mine more on the salty side. The corn - I wish it were a tad bit sweeter. Overall - I would choose both again.
For dessert, we were impressed. We chose the Bread Pudding with whiskey sauce and Carrot Cake with cream cheese frosting. It was obviously so good that we did not get pictures. I would say we would choose the bread pudding over the carrot cake if we went back just because the carrot cake was a little sweeter, while the bread pudding was a perfect after supper treat.
Lastly, if you are in the mood for a cocktail - the boozy cider was a nice treat on a cold evening.
Again this place was amazing. The atmosphere was friendly, but local and relaxed. Expect delicious food with home service and a bar filled with friends that know each other.
1st time here. Fantabulous!! Very generous portion. Excellent food and wonderful service. We will be back. Benedict's are good as is cheese potatoes. Yummy!
The food here is very good and the portions are generous, as expected with Syrup being the sister restaurant. The atmosphere is laid back and pleasant. Overall a really nice spot with a unique name, great food and a fair price point. The outdoor seating is also a nice bonus.
Had the chance to eat here on a recent trip, cool little place. Service was top notch. My two suggestions for improvement, first was the "old fashion" was eh average at best. Muddle some fruit with a sugar cube and cherry juice, and cut back on the ice, it was hard to get a sip of the drink because the ice to liquid was overwhelming. Second suggestion serve the prime rib on a big old plate, the half bowl concept didn't work when the prime rib hung over the sides of the bowl/plate combo they served it in. The food was really good, get the cheese curds! Supper Clubs are brand new to this area, but if you want to experience a small taste of Wisconsin head to The Shanty!
This is a very cute and cozy bar/restaurant. The staff were friendly (a little slow) but not bad during happy hour... Which lasts from 4-7pm! Definitely try the cheese curds and rueben sliders. Delicious!
Was very quiet and had a good atmosphere. A nice place to meet a friend for happy hour.
Excellent meal and experience last night. I'm from Wisconsin and the menu made me feel right at home. Decor great. Service very friendly. Can't wait to get back to try the fish fry, prime rib, pot pie, pot roast....and more.
Stopped in for brunch. The Prime rib Benedict was amazing! Cheese curds were on point w 3 different sauce options. Reasonable priced and the service was excellent. Can’t wait to try dinner or should I say supper.
I’m absolutely in love with this place! We had 7pm dinner reservations last night, it was the best value for 5280 that I’ve been to. Great portions and delicious food. We will definitely be returning, no need to wait for next years 5280!
Delightful evening in a cozy friendly environment. The staff is top notch, the food is delicious. Easy place to relax with friends. Owner is hands on and a talented gift from the Midwest. Visit here and give yourself the treat out you deserve.
