Ethiopian Restaurant

I had my first Ethiopian food here, loved it! Since I live pretty far away from here, I haven't been back for years. Came back tonight, the restaurant got renovated, which was a great surprise. Unfortunate, the food are not as great as before. We ordered the spicy lamb and spicy beef, neither of them are spicy at all. The flavors are still very good, just not spicy at all.

I've been eating here for 30 years. It's the best Ethiopian restaurant I've ever been to, prices couldn't be better, and it's a perfect place to take a date, or just old friends to talk, because, even when it's packed, it's quiet enough to hear one another. If you've never had Ethiopian before, get one of the combo plates to share.

REAL ETHIOPIAN FOOD Notes: • Weirdly, the menus on Google and Yelp are wrong. I have included the updated menu here. • They DO take cash, card, Apple Pay etc • No menu substitutions • Food made fresh to order, so allow time I ordered the Special Tibs and it was delicious. Not spicy but flavorful. The sides were fresh and tasty. One meal was enough to fill me up and I had extras for another meal. The Gomen (Collard Greens) was my favorite side. Parking: • Street parking only… not ideal but manageable. Obey the signs.

The combination plate is the way to go! We got Combo #2, and everyone in our group had a different favorite. Highly recommend! This is authentic Ethiopian food, so don’t expect a fork and a personal plate. The dishes are served in a giant central platter and use use injera to grab your bites. So tasty!

If you haven't been to an Ethiopian restaurant before, do not expect a normal restaurant where they hand you forks and knives. Most likely they'll pour your stew straight onto injera bread on a plate and you'll eat it like a fajita This food is delicious and wholesome, the bathrooms are well kept, the entire restaurant feels authentic, as though you've left Denver entirely. Great spot to recharge

I really like the family style sharing concept. You get a big giant plate of food vegetarian and meat. They have a variety of different flavors for each dish. My favorite was the spicy lamb. Even the veggies like cabbage and potatoes had really good flavor. If I lived here I would eat this all the time! Will definitely be back when I visit Denver.
