Review Himchuli - Highlands Indian & Nepali Cuisine - Denver

Natalia Patterson
Highly recommend family-style dinning to try different dishes because everything on the menu was delicious! We got the recommendations from our Indian friend and loved everything we ordered. Started with Samosas (vegetarian) followed by Chicken Tandoori (to die for!), Chicken Biryani and Lamb Saag. The Highlands location is way smaller than the one in RiNo so definitely make a resi!

Craving for momos satisfied. If I were to recommend one Indian restaurant in Denver, it would be this. We ordered the dal tadka and aloo methi and they are just too good. Finger licking delicious. Good portion sizes, reasonable prices. They have 7 spice levels, so choose well. We ordered level 2.

If you're looking for a restaurant to enjoy great authentic Nepalese and Indian cuisine this is definitely the place to visit! The calming atmosphere and beautiful aesthetic immediately made us feel right at ease. Let's not also forget the AMAZING staff members that served us. Even upon entering the restaurant the manager welcomed us with so much happiness, kindness, and enthusiasm! One can definitely see that the staff are like family and they treat their customers as such too :) Highly recommend 💯!!!

Ordering chicken tikka masala from Himchuli is a cherished weekend treat of mine. You can choose the level of spice desired, although I like it mild. As a special note on the service, a few months back I ordered brown rice and was mistakenly given white. The manager was kind enough to drive back out to my house to correct the mistake. That isn’t just great service- but it is also respect. I will continue to come to Himchuli and highly recommend.

Literally one of the best not just Indian cuisine but food in general. My husband and I are vegan and there are so many options! We love spicy food and it hits the spot every time. The samosas are excellent to start out with! I get so excited to try something new every time! It’s so authentic and has never disappointed! The owner is from Nepal and has stopped by our table every time we are in just to check in on our experience. If you want to support a small business while having out of this world food- you have to check this place out!

Best Indian food in Denver! Original Highlands location is better than the downtown location. Their naan and spice level can differ quite a bit depending on who made it but I still love it anyway. Everything is so good!!

The staff was fantastic! We were informed by a friend to try this place and it certainly didn’t disappoint! We wanted to try Nepali food for the first time and the staff was more than welcoming and assisted us with choosing some extremely tasty options. The ambiance is great and the food is very much delicious and filling comfort food. We will certainly return next time we’re in Denver!

Superb Indian food - iced chai tea made from scratch, Dal soup, samosa chat, matar paneer made to order and served piping hot, fresh hot garlic naan and tasty mango chutney. Our lunch was fresh, hot, and spiced to my taste. Seating is available inside and out, and the service off both prompt and gracious.

Himchuli serves up dishes that are full of flavor. We ordered the chicken Vindaloo which normally comes extra spicy. We asked for medium spice. We also ordered Rogan Josh medium spicy. We were given Papadum, a crispy, thin bread while we waited for our meals. The Papadum was served with with two sauces for dipping. One was a green, herb sauce which was light and refreshing. The other sauce was a sweet, red sauce which had a little spicy aftertaste. They both were deliciously paired with the Papadum. Our main dishes were served with rice and were absolutely amazing. The lamb Rogan Josh was my favorite. It was rich and flavorful without being too heavy. I couldn't stop eating these dishes! They were both SO good. The spice, the flavor and the heat really hot the spot.

We got the samosa chart, paneer masala, and garlic naan/ rice. 1. Samosa Chaat: it was tangy and sweet with adequate spice. The garlic based Masada had a stronger garlic taste to it though. 2. Paneer Masala: we asked for medium spice but the spice overwhelmed the flavor. The paneer was good though, not the freshest paneer, but then again there has been one indian place in the US that had true in house made paneer. Its called Angel, its in Queens, NY if you ever want to go try it. 3. Garlic naan/ rice: the naan was more crumbly than elastic like other Indian places but it was good overall. The garlic topping wasn't overbearing. The rice with the paneer was overpowered by the spice in the masala. The service and atmosphere was good. Our total bill was low ~$30, so a good cheap meal for two.

One of the absolute best Nepalese restaurants in Denver! Authentic and affordable. Out of all of the Indian cuisine in the Highlands area, this family owned restaurant is the best.

best nepali and indian food in town. would recommend dal makhani , samosa chat, momo and chicken tikka masala. great service and resturant is clean. me and my family enjoyed the food.

The entrees here are really tasty and they will spice according to your preference. I went with medium plus and found the heat level perfect. I loved their Saag Paneer and the Shrimp Vindaloo was also flavorful. The naan is some of the best I've had around Denver. Skip the fried combo appetizer plate unless you love fried food. The service started off a little rocky but finished strong. Overall a good experience in Denver's Tennyson district and I would return.

This is one of my absolute favorite restaurants, I've ordered delivery from here a hundred times or more. Only reason I'm knocking a star off is because it looks like they increased all their prices 20-30% on Doordash..... I know it brings them in line with the other indian places around, but I just can't justify spending $30 per meal. I'll probably order it occasionally still, but I can't keep coming back so often at this price point.

Really nice staff, was quick to get my to go order for delivery. As I was waiting I looked at the buffet and asked for a sample and the man made me a plate to go just for me. I highly recommend this restaurant for there great food and amazing customer service.

True medium spice, it’s rare to find a place whose medium is has a little kick while being able to taste the flavors of the dish. Chicken tikka masala is great, the chicken curry is perfect. The chicken is very well done and the seasoning has a natural kick and is so good. Only thing is sometimes the papadums are not cooked completely or have gotten moist so they aren’t crunchy. They’re very nice about it though and will bring a fresh plate out.

This is by far, one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. Me and family, a total of 7 of us were greeted and seated with open arms. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. We had 3 little ones in our party and had the best time. Yes, they do have high chairs for toddlers. Now on to the food. The Tandoori chicken and Korma chicken was succulent and full of flavor. The spices and was cooked to perfection. The kids enjoyed the Punjabi chicken wings, as they were licking their fingers clean. There were so many dishes we wanted to try but was so satisfied with what we have ordered. The restaurant is very clean and the ambiance was excellent. A definite visit if you are in the Denver area. Your tastebuds will thank you instantly!

This place is great. The staff is friendly, the food is incredible, and their drink menu is amazing. Definitely a staple for Tennyson!

I ordered takeout yesterday and both the samosas and the chicken in the saag dish were barely cooked. Even the saag was under cooked. I couldn't finish the dish, which with tip was $25 at lunch. Disappointing.

One of my favorite places to eat in the hood. I love the food (of course) and I love the staff!! :-) Our goto dishes are the samosas, tikka massala, lamb curry, garlic naan, and I like the Himalayan Margarita!

Great food, customer service is the worst I've experienced of any place in the Highlands or Denver, for that matter. Hopefully they will hire or re-train their staff.

Laura and I just tried here for the first time. So happy to have this great Indian/Nepalese restaurant right in the neighborhood. Flavorful food, warm ambiance, attentive service and even live music made for a great evening. We love our Indian in London and NY when we're there, and now finally have our go-to place in Denver. And the reasonable prices make it even better.

Our waiter was phenomenal! We went there for an early Valentines Day dinner and loved it. The food and service were great! We’ll definitely be going back.

So glad we got a delicious Indian restaurant in our neighborhood. The food is some of the best Indian we've tried in Denver thus far. Prices are comparable to others as well. We ordered take out dinner, chicken Tikka Masala and vegetable samosas. Everything was delectable! Can't wait to try more!

I had the salmon Saag and it was fabulous! My husband's had the chicken Vindaloo and he loved it. He has a hard time finding food in a restaurant that is spicy enough for him and this was wonderful! The service was great! We loved the live music! We will definitely return!!
