This place looks adorable. I loved the view and the seating in here. The food on the other hand was pretty disappointing. The food I got was super dry and not too good. Didnt even seem fully cooked. The bowl of minestrone I asked if it had meat, the lady said no but it is made with beef broth so I said I wouldn't eat it since I'm vegetarian but she brought it to me anyways. I wish I had a better experience with my food here. I did love the view. This place is beautiful

Just got back from Friday dinner out at Hillside. We got 2 entrees that came with a side of soup or salad and 4 pieces of bread with some butter. We also took home an apple crunch pie. my husband giving this restaurant 2.5 stars and I’m giving it a solid 3-3.5. The food came out quick and there was no wait to get seated. Also, our meals were decent size portions, I could only finish like a 1/3 of a meal. Flavor wise my pasta needed more salt, my chicken was chewy ( but the breading was good ) and meat sauce was on point. The best part was butternut squash bisque soup. It tasted homemade and was well seasoned. My husband ordered Friday special fish fry and I personally liked his fish more than him. The big piece of fish tasted great( super juicy ) but the smaller pieces were somewhat overcooked. His meal came with a side of standard frozen crinkle cut fries and some sauté veggies. Veggies had a nice taste. I liked his salad but he wasn’t impressed as it tasted like a bagged salad. Oh well, it was still fresh and crispy. Now, I was super excited for this apple crisp pie and I am not a fan of it. I like my apples cooked before they are put in a pie and I wish I knew besides classic cinnamon and nutmeg there is clove in this pie. Too bad we bought the whole thing. I think I’ll try to cook it for a little longer to see if I can soften the apples. The interior of the place is on the darker side. I liked the style of it but it could use some update. Also we were the youngest customers there. Overall I’m glad we went because we always park across the street and pass this place so it was a time to give it a try. Paid $65 for all + tips

Extremely disappointed in the entire visit. We were excited to back after not being there for a few years. We had a party of 13, which most of them it was their first visit. I made a reservation a week before, as instructed by the lady on the phone made it a little earlier. 5:15, so we had plenty of time to get to our show at the Egyptian next door at 7:30. Our table was set and ready when we got there, the only positive if the night. It started with it taking over 30 minutes to even get our drinks. The tables were sticky. The beverage options were water, lemonade, tea, sprite, mountain dew or beer/wine. They ran out of the soup. We sat there for 1 hour and 55 minutes before our food came out. We got our food at 7:10 and the play was at 730. No one ever came to clear the dirty dishes from the soup, salad and empty drinks. We were given 2 menus for 13 people. We asked if we could get pitchers of water, we got one small pitcher again for 13 people. The waitresses were not professional looking at all. They were wearing grubby hooded sweatshirts, hair down and messy all over. The entrees are very expensive for what you get. Spaghetti that's $20 a plate and you get enough sauce to barely stain the noodles. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. Terribly disappointed and would not recommend.

Was not expecting much upon first impression. Decor and lighting can be update. But then they served me food. The butternut squash is amazing! Jumbalaya is filling and tasted great as well.

How do i begin this review. I know from the beginning of our evening. we were there on oct 8 2021 going to a show right next door at the Egyptian theater and we wanted to have dinner before. We arrived at the restaurant very early at 6 PM for an 8 o clock show. The decor is very nice something you might experience in a supper club in Wisconsin that is the only positive thing i can say about it. we were sat at our table right away but waited 15 to 20 minutes for our server to come over she dropped off menus and left. this review does not affect our server because she was running around like a mad woman trying to take care of all her tables she was actually pretty amazing. we finally ordered our dinners and appetizers and waited received the appetizers in about 20 minutes. then we waited. the dinner came out to us at about 7:20 PM and we had to make the show at 8 pm. this is the terrible part i received my dinner with get ready for it frozen green beans and carrots on my plate. who even thinks about serving that. We shoved the food down our throats and left for the show. this restaurant is very pricey and the quality is poor. i would give this no stars but they will not let you

Good Food, odd service? We didn't realize we needed a reservation but told her we were walk in's and she said "oh where did you ever learn that term, we don't have any booths." ( I felt like I was a child who shouldnt now that term. I am 33.) I was nice and just said anything will do, she found us a table and we had a very nice waitress who did a great job serving us except I noticed we were the only table that was not served any rolls. I don't know if it was only for those who ordered certain meals or for every customer so maybe that was the way it was supposed to be. The food was great but very crowded space and very low lighting. There was a good amount of light at the table which was good since my boyfriend has low vision. It was on the pricey side but good location next to the Egyptian Theater. Overall a good place to eat but Odd atmosphere.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant! When I lived in Illinois I used to go here with my family and order "chicken fingers the old way". The food here is excellent and the atmosphere is calm and very beautiful. I always have positive experiences with the owners and the staff. Whenever I fly back put to Illinois I always make sure I eat here. I highly recommend you try this restaurant for yourself!

It is a great place to have a nice old fashioned sit down family meal. Nothing is rushed. The food is great. The service is attentive, but slow paced, which makes for a relaxing atmosphere where you can have a long conversation removed from the hustle and bustle outside. It has been a favorite of mine for years. I have tried a lot on the menu, from the wedge salad to the trout dinner and have never been disappointed, and you won't be either.
