The Pinewood

Not worth the price. My boyfriend and I came here for lunch after seeing it on Eater's burger list. I had been here a few times for just cocktails, which were decent. The food, however, was kind of disappointing. It was a Thursday, and the restaurant had just opened. There was only one server, which was fine. He was polite, and brought us a few refills of coffee. However, the food came out very slowly, even though there was only one other customer there. We got the soup of the day, which was some type of lentil soup. I actually thought it was quite tasty, but it was already a little cold when we got it. Again, it was very slow, and they had just opened. So if this soup was freshly made, it should have been fairly warm, unless it sat there for a while waiting to be dropped. As far as the burger, it was a typical bar food burger. It was a little overcooked, and there was really nothing about it that made it stand out to us. I would expect to get a burger of the same quality at any restaurant food chain. The burger was not the most disappointing part, though. I was excited to see that the special was a Monte Crsito, because they are delicious. I ordered it without asking about the preparation of the sandwich, and was shocked when it came out deep friend. Typically a Monte Cristo is dipped in egg batter, and fried, like french toast. This was literally deep fried. I do feel like the waiter should have thought to mention this unusual twist on the normal sandwich. I had to rip most of the breading off of the sandwich, because it was just too much. I personally do not believe that just because something is fried, it is good. No deep fried Milky Ways for me. Thank you. If I had been rating this just based n the soup, I might have given a better score, despite it being cold. After the burger and Monte Cristo disappointment, I have to knock them down to a 2. I highly doubt I will be eating here again.

Food is wonderful. Staff is even better!! Our server recommended the Goonies cocktail and it was very good and refreshing. You gotta try the brussel sprouts and the grit tots if you're here. It's hard to share because they're so good, but there's plenty for 2! The chicken and waffles was interesting and not your typical chicken and waffles dish. I was looking for a sweet and savory taste, but it was all savory (cheese and gravy). Not the best chicken and waffle dish but still good to try. We also ordered the patatas bravas -- the potatoes were no doubt crispy! Overall great experience, I'd come again and recommend!

The place was nice and they took reservations for a party of 15 which was nice. We did not fill the table which was bad on us. The food is overpriced and very salty. It seems they overcompensate with salt. This was more than just me at the table. The food came out pretty quickly but getting our check took forever. We also had a cake we needed cut and prepared and they took so long to bring it out and I don't understand why. We were done eating 30 minutes before they brought the cake and checks. It's ok for a one time experience but honestly I don't recommend coming here. There's better places out there for the price. I think they were milking us for more drinks. We had somewhere to be and BARELY made it to the place because they did not want to give us our checks for some reason. Very odd experience. The chicken and waffles is really the only meal I thought was delicious. Everything else seemed salty and expensive. Come once if you must, don't return unless you really just like the ambiance and are already used to crappy hipster food.

The food was delicious, and the service was top notch! Tyler and Shannon were fantastic, the brussel sprouts were so good, my husband raved about the chicken and waffles being the best he's ever had, my burger was cooked perfectly, and I'm not sorry that we had the last piece of peanut butter chocolate pie. If you're trying to decide which of the restaurants to check out along that street, you can't go wrong at The Pinewood!

Great food, fast service, and unique dishes at The Pinewood. The wings I got were not only smoked, but came with a white BBQ sauce on them which gave a unique and very good flavor. You have to try the grit tots and the tater tots, excellent sides. The drink I had was a ginger pineapple Sprite infused drink and came with real ginger pieces, which was an awesome drink. Definitely recommend The Pinewood.
