Gem of a place. Mostly couples and boomers enjoying a slow luncheon. Classic dishes, sizable portions and reasonable prices. About $60 for two with desserts and drinks.
Cute french restaurant in Decatur. Came here for dinner one night with friends who highly recommended it. I definitely enjoyed the ambiance. Lots of dim natural lighting. We ordered so much. Cheese board, liver pate, beef Wellington, roasted chicken, wine....etc. My favorite item was definitely the pate. It was super flavorful. I could see myself ordering a pound to take home. Everyone at the table seemed to enjoy their meal. I wouldn't likely order the beef Wellington again. It was undercooked for my preference. I asked for it to be cooked more but it came back with the ends seered and the center still red.
Parking was easy but not free. We parked at a $5 (cash only) lot across the street. It was pretty full when we parked so my friend had to opt for a different lot.
Overall I would go back but I would have the pate as my meal.
If you enjoy the feel of an authentic French restaurant offering authentic French food, you're in for a treat. As someone raised right on the French border, the delicious meal I shared with my husband was one of the most comforting dining experiences I've had the pleasure of enjoying. Couldn't help but grab a whole bunch of food to go for later snacks reminiscent of my childhood home.
This is an absolute gem of a place in downtown Decatur. Prepare to be transported to a French cafe. And their food, they have daily specials and a wonderful regular menu. Y'all know I love those places where everything on the menu is so tempting that you already know what you are ordering the next two or three visits. We had the special savory crepe, a delicious mix of chicken, sausage, goat cheese and wild rice, with a side of French onion soup. My favorite sandwich is the prosciutto ham, brie and apple on pretzel bread, which I always get with a side salad. Excellent wine list as you would expect. And those desserts... you have never had a macaron until you have had one at Alsace Cafe. They are melt in your mouth delicious. Do not miss an opportunity to visit!
Incredible French restaurant! Worth seeking it out. I had the Nages St. Jacques which was literally one of the best things I have eaten in years.
My husband and I came here tonight for our date night. It was our first visit and also our first time trying French food. First, the staff is beyond friendly, they're so helpful and don't mind taking their time talking to you and made us feel welcome. The food was far beyond any expectations we had, so delicious, great portion, the wine, coffees and dessert we got we're also amazing. The owner was a kind and friendly, and we saw made time to visit each table as well as ours. We will absolutely be back and are so excited to try everything else on the menu. New favorite date night spot
The Cassoulet with confit duck was to die/murder for. I don’t care who it is that gets hurt as long as I get some more.
The Cordon Bleu was delicious; rich, tender, and cheesy combined into an incredibly flavorful symphony.
We will be back at the earliest chance, what a wonderful meal.
Cute place, a little small but the environment is very comforting. Our hostess and waitress were very nice and the food was delicious. Definitely get the French onion soup. And the macaroons were to die for. I will be coming back.
