The Abbey

Was there for a late dinner Saturday night. Busy, but given the current atmosphere of struggling business, had no problem waiting. We ordered a pizza, which we received ice cold, cheese wasn't even melted. We had to send it back. Although the waitress offered make us another, by that point it was just too late. No dinner for us. I guess I just wished they would have taken a drink off of our bar tab or something as an "I'm sorry", but they did not offer. Everyone was friendly enough, but would not be compelled to return.

Pretty good place for a few beers and really good fries. Shuffleboard table was great fun, haven't been able to play one of those in years. Pull tab machine was a good win of $200.00. I do not recommend the "shake of the day", pot only went up $2.00 in the 4 days we were there after multiple plays were made. That's not cool. Overall decent place to have some beers, decent staff.

As many businesses are understaffed I will leave that out of my review. It is what it is. Our server was efficient, and pleasant enough. The food (excepting the pretzel)was sorely lacking . Ordered a burger and cheese curds as well as a 1/2 pretzel. First the good- the pretzel is delicious and well worth it. The curds were nothing special and we didn’t even finish them. The burger was dry and very overdone. Last, there was a service fee on my bill. It was only a buck, but I’m not even sure what it was for. I don’t feel the need to return. Lots of other great choices in the area.

Poor vegetarian menu unless you go on a Friday. They did accommodate my friend who is also a vegetarian and we requested a fish sandwich. My friends' fish was fried to the point of all crust and no fish. She did request a new piece and did receive it. They charged us the dinner price. Also, we had a bloody Mary with a beer chaser and was charged $2.50 extra for a 4oz Miller lite.my friend ordered a glass of tomato juice and 1 shot of vodka and was charged $8.00 for a double shot of vodka and $2.50 for a glass of tomato juice. I ordered tater tots and got French fries. Everyones bill was wrong. Our waitress was very kind and tried to accommodate but it led to a poor dining experience. Will not be back.
