Central Perc is my favorite place in Dayton, and the place I miss most now I have moved to Raleigh. I have drunk a lot of tea and coffee there with dear friends and eaten the best pastries anywhere. Rose is truly a great pastry chef, and her soup is the best I know of, too. And the atmosphere is delightful. I miss it!
An absolute gem!! When I want a little 'me' time, or when I'm looking for somewhere to head on a girl's day out, this place is my go to!!! For an indulgent (and filling!) treat, get the afternoon tea!!! I also love their carrot soup, and all the sandwiches they offer... And every dessert and scone I've had has been amazing. The lovely couple that owns the place REALLY know what they are doing. Things to note: take cash for payment. Also, it's a small place... You may wait a few to be seated... But it's worth it!!
Coffee shops and smoothie stations have popped up around it in the time since then, and you could still drive right by this little shop without seeing it unless you knew exactly where to look.
Had a lovely lunch today. The chicken salad was delicious and I highly recommend letting Mike surprise you a hot tea if your not sure which you prefer.
Love it!. Love, love, love this place. Real tea in real cups and saucers, just like it's supposed to be. I had afternoon tea here and was really impressed with the whole experience, reminded me of being back in England. The scones are fantastic so make sure you save room!
Great food, good atmosphere. Extremely hospitable and accommodating service. Highly recommended for lunch or a chat and coffee.
Local, authentic. If you are looking for a place screaming "I'm European!! Look at all my cliche European things!!!" this place will not impress you. In fact, it really doesn't scream at all. It is very quaint, very local feel. But it IS authentic, absolutely. The scones are baked fresh in the morning and served with cream and jam and coffee is unlimited! and delicious (really, I work in coffee and still love theirs). The people that work there are so genuine it makes the experience wonderful.
I will say, on my first visit I thought I was in the wrong place because I was expecting a place with atmosphere, since I had heard so many good things about it. The place is quaint and small, but has a couple outdoor tables that are the best when it is nice out. I haven't sat inside or experienced official tea time there yet, but I will definitely be back.
Two thumbs way up from me!
