Great salad bar!. We have been eating at Daves for several years and have never had a bad experience. The salad bar has always been fresh and the baked potatoes are excellent. We are not pizza eaters, so cannot comment on those or the meat dishes.
It's a very great place to eat! Great service good food all wrapped up in a patriotic environment! It's perfect for those who don't want to spend that much money and want great food! It has the best salad bar I've ever tried!

Pleasantly Surprised. After reading the reviews of this place I was less than excited to go. I have some family in Rockville that wanted to go here and invited us out for dinner. So off we went, and I have to say that this was probably one of the best restaurants I've been to since moving to Indy.
The salad bar was fresh, they had a few addition you don't find many other places, but otherwise it was pretty run of the mill. Aside from your usual salad bar fixings they had radish sticks, cauliflower, pickled beets and an assortment of side options like bean salad, macaroni salad, and a mustard potato salad (all good in my opinion). Cheddar was the only cheese option and the dressings were nothing special, but they weren't bad. I was happy with freshness of the ingredients. Unlimited salad bar is included with their steak meals, so all in all its a pretty good deal.
I tried the prime rib, it was good but the au jus was more like a thin country style brown gravy than an au jus. Still good, just not what I was expecting. The ribeye was excellent, everything was cooked as ordered, the side potatoes were large.
My father had been there before and mentioned that the owner was there last time they were at the restaurant and didn't seem like a very friendly guy. He also mentioned that he looked like he ran the place with an iron fist (former military type). He wasn't there when we went and all the staff seemed pretty relaxed - the service was pretty good. Waitress forgot to refill drinks but she seemed pretty busy.
I would go back.
Although we no longer live here, it's a must when we visit. Good service, unique pizza, and a fresh salad bar. Ignore Dave and you'll have an enjoyable dining experience.

Cant beat dave's salad bar! Very good, always fresh, & a lot of variety! Pizza aint bad but needs a better crust!
Good pizza and breadsticks. I visited Dave's on Memorial Day weekend 2011 and it was a very busy time. The parking lot and restaurant were packed. Dave, the owner, was actually seating people, which I found to be a nice touch that he's a hands-on owner.
I'm a vegetarian and enjoyed a 6" pizza with olives, mushroom and onion. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich with chips and applesauce. I had the unsweet tea, which was delicious, and my husband had an Ale-8 which is not available in many restaurants and was a welcomed surprise. We also shared breadsticks and cheese.
We thought the food was very good and the service was good, especially considering the huge crowd. It was only $20 for the two of us, which was more than reasonable! We would definitely go back.
For those commenting about the salad bar, it appeared to be rather small to me, but my friends enjoyed it. I wouldn't let that keep anyone from visiting, there are plenty of other things on the menu.
