Review The Ivy Tavern - Dallas

Drew Hall
We stopped in because we had a 4 hour layover at DAL wanted to get out of the airport for a bit! Some of the most awesome service I’ve had in awhile! Had my favorite vodka Dustin behind the bar and the manager and other bartender were all super friendly food was phenomenal! Everyone seemed to enjoy working there. Very fresh and good quality! Highly recommend the chicken sliders and or hamburger pizza! When I’m in Dallas again definitely will be going back

John and Gabe great. Fun time. Greet food stiff drinks. Great times. Love it.

I’ve driven by this hidden dive bar 1,000,000 times. Maybe 999,000 before I ever knew it existed. Today, I finally ventured in. That’s a tragedy. Occupying a tiny storefront on Lemmon Ave, the place extends into a tesseract of expansive space. A small dark and clubby (though spartan) interior and a large shaded and misted back patio that make this oppressive Texan summer heat endurable. The bartender was cheerful and attentive. Not a craft cocktail spot, but respectably outfitted for the unfussy standards. Time can stop ensconced in the dark walls and a refreshing libation at the front bar. The bar menu is far larger than anticipated. D Magazine recently lauded their Hamburger pizza. It’s tasty. Detractor: I’d prefer glass for my water over the red solo cup. All things considered, it’s kinda a thrill to know about a “secret gem” that’s solidly been standing its ground for quite a while. ‘Bout time I clued in. Having car work done at a nearby dealership? This is a prime option to wait it out.

There needs to be a non-smoking and No big Dog rule or area. I was surprised to see a person with a huge dog sitting next to her in the back bar, which is literally the whole place. The Ivy has a lot of charm, but not everyone wants random huge dogs right next to them with people that are drinking. Leave the dogs safely at home. The mixture of people is wonderful, always friendly, and it's a Dallas original experience.

I recently visited this hidden gem, and I was pleasantly surprised by the great vibes it offered. The laid back atmosphere and tasteful modern music created a unique and cozy ambiance. The staff were friendly and seemed genuinely interested in making sure everyone had a good time. The crowd was diverse and laid-back, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. While the place might not have the fanciest drinks or decor, its charm and friendly atmosphere make it a must-visit for those looking for a relaxed and enjoyable place to drink.

Hidden neighborhood hole-in-the-wall. No signage, so if you dont know it is there then you will just miss out. Normal crowd of all legal ages. Beer nicely priced and cigars are no problem. Highly recommend.

First of all go to the bar and ask Kyle to make you his famous margarita 👨‍🍳chefs kiss!! He and his companions make the atmosphere here!! They are fun and goofy and attentive - wonderful men!! The place is clean and very cute lots of games including a pool table. The food?!?! Dear Lord!!! Get the loaded fries with brisket and pimiento cheese pleaseee and their cheese pizza was the bomb!! You will enjoy it here - definitely coming back!!!

Kyle is one of the main reasons we go to The Ivy. He always has a smile, always remembers your name and orders. He’s very welcoming to what feels like his home. Love the new upgrades and the wall art. Great bar food like their pizza as well!

Ivy Tavern is a hopping little place! Great bar, really sweet heated patio with TVs and occasional live music. Due to surrounding homes and businesses, you won't find loud and rowdy bands, but there's plenty of trendy atmosphere. The food was fairly traditional bar food and the drinks were good and strong. Pretty unassuming place by the front of the place, but park around back and belt right up to the outdoor bar. There's billiards, darts and plenty of seating. Awesome spot!

Local dive with food available pretty late into the evening. My buddy loves the burger, so I'll try it soon and update this review. I've been coming here for years and hope it stays for many years to come. Great social setting and open patio. Parking can be a challenge at times, but there are two lots available (on each side street of the building).

Drinks were great and bartenders were very friendly. Was here for a work event and as the evening was winding down they told us it was going to get loud at the inside bar. I thought maybe a DJ was coming in… I was wrong. A plumbing crew started jackhammering the floor behind the bar. 😂 It was hot as hell outside, but we moved to outside bar and still enjoyed the fun. I just had never seen a bar start doing work during business hours. Gave me some old school Bar of Soap vibes. I would still recommend, I’m sure it was a wild card and something that couldn’t have been done after hours due to location close to neighborhood.

Look for Justin. Then relax and make your heart soul and mind open to chill and peace. Ivy is the best mix of great food, easy vibe and cold bevs. Local beer choices- in my mind as a local real estate professional- very important and a great tell of an excellent curated bar experience or just an investors "this sounds good"... Ivy Tavern list is local solid. Burger beyond average-- depending on your personal burger standards you may say excellent. Ivy is ideal spot for a quick Dallas fix before you hop on your 5mins away love field flight or simply a place to drink adult beverage and chill. Summe~spring- fall check out the "secret" back bar and patio- you may forget you are in fact in Dallas. Terrific beer garden feel.

Brunch. Must have. $3 mimosas and $4 bloody Mary’s. The food is amazing. Reasonably priced and comes out in good time. One of my new favorite brunch spots. They also have an amazing patio with a bar, tables and games. Definitely a must check out

It's a nice bar to hang out with friends. Will return for the atmosphere. Bar tenders are a bit cold 🥶 but it was due to miscommunication. Clean, well kept, nothing chaotic.

I've wanted to try this place for years but never made it until yesterday. That was a mistake on my part I should have been going in there regularly for years. A quaint front of house with couch style seating and at a bar stocked with dozens of local brewery selections. My wife and I both had pizzas and it was so good we do take out if we live closer. Then we looked at the back of house. A comparatively huge outdoor bar with misters everywhere for climate control. It was packed with a great crowd.

The burger I ate here was so good. I was not expecting it to be that on point. I would argue just as good as maple and motor which is just a few streets over.

The Ivy is the perfect place to relax, unwind, and spend tome with the people you love most. The owner and his staff go above and beyond to make their guests feel welcomed. The food is phenomenal and the cocktails are perfect. If you enjoy old school music this is the place to be!! This is my new favorite hang out and I highly recommend it to everyone!!

Great drinks that weren't ridiculously priced, friendly staff, clean bathrooms and a fun, casual place. My only complaint is that smoking is allowed on the patio. As someone who is super allergic to cigarettes I have to take away 1 star. Otherwise a great place I would come back to. Especially if you have Jeff K out to do more DJ sets!

The Ivy is always a great place to have cocktails and be social.. It's always has a good crowd. Katy is my favorite server. The owner is pretty bad ass also.... I live in the neighborhood, so it's always my first pick for happy hour...

I tried the Ivy for the first time last night, I drive by the on a daily basis. It was such a cool place! The food was great and the atmosphere was fun. The staff was super nice. I'm only sad that they took the ivy down. I loved the tavern look. Bonus is it's walking distance from home, I'll definitely be going back!

Homophobic garbage people own this place. Don’t give them your money.

The Ivy is everything you want your favorite bar to be: comfortable, warm, great service from a great staff that really cares. Hands-on ownership by really great people makes all the difference here.
