Review Gyu-kaku Japanese Bbq - Dallas

Mariana Lucas
I'd never experienced Japanese BBQ before, but Gyu-Kaku came highly recommended as one of the best in town. I was really excited about the cook-yourself concept. The staff were fantastic—friendly and welcoming. We opted for the Ultimate All You Can Eat Experience at $62 per person, which gives you 55 items from the premium and ultimate selections for 90 minutes. Our favorite dishes were the garlic fried rice (absolutely delicious and worth it), egg soup, Japanese pork sausages, Harami Skirt Steak, premium sirloin, spicy and addicting cucumber, umakara pork, and New York steak. Everything was served promptly, and different waiters consistently checked in to see if we needed anything else, keeping our table clear of empty plates. I believe this would be a fun experience to share with family, especially since they have long booths perfect for larger groups. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I definitely plan to return in the future.

It was my first time eating at a Japanese bbq restaurant and this place did not disappoint! Everything we ordered tasted amazing! 🤤 My order came with a salad that was so good, and the side dishes were fresh. There are instructions on how long you should cook the different meats, for those that are beginners like myself that don’t know the first thing about grilling meat lol They have spicy and sweet soy sauces that you can dip the meat in 🤌🏻 Also, the staff was very nice and kindly answered all our questions and explained the menu to us. Prices are a bit steep, but once you taste the food it makes it all worth it! Overall it was a great experience that I enjoyed with friends.

Food is so good. There is a variety of appetizers and meals. Service is super good. Everyone is so attentive especially Chris. You'll be lucky if you get him as your waiter.

Karen's serves very well. She usually gives us more meat than a normal order. And we can also ask her for more free beer and wine when we've ordered one. I highly recommend that you ask her to serve us when we come here.

Entertaining and delicious dining experience! The kind-hearted servers of Gyu-Kaku made our visit perfect. We ate a large variety of items that were all seasoned to perfection. It's a must try! 🥩🍖🍗

Been going to this place for years and always receive the best service I could ask for. We love the all you can eat menu and always get Ultimate option. Servers are nice and respectful. If you need anything, someone will always get it for you right away. I wouldn't believe the other negative reviews, they did not justify the experience I have every time I come in.

Been trying to get in for some time now; finally made it on mother's day and everyone was highly impressed. With a biz- casual vibe it's a perfect spot for a family meet-up or date night.
Life is very colorful

The only person who serves well here is Karen. Karen brought the food very quickly, and she also dedicatedly grilled the food for us. Karen changes the grill very often. I highly recommend you guys ask Karen for service when you come here.

My fingers are automatically typing this review as the food was absolutely delicious! It was our first time trying a Japanese BBQ and it was way better than we expected. The meat was tender, the marinade was perfect, the side dishes were heavenly... We would want to see more beer selection for the beer tower dispensers, but it's not as urgent and doesn't take away from experience. 10000 out of 100 recommend this place.

I love the interaction of this place. The food is high quality, the staff was excellent. We did the buffett plan and everything was so well seasoned and you had so many choices. We all left full!

Great day at Gyu...although I was just there on Wednesday 5/17. This time we made reservations (being that it was Saturday) so we didn't have to wait at all. Last week the wait time was only 15mins without reservations but that was a weekday. Service was great and Chris was very attentive to make sure we had everything we wanted or needed. All you can it is the best option! There are 3 tiers based on the different cuts of meat, sides & veggies. The cost is $52, $62 & $72 per person. My group prefers the $62 option which includes everything from the $52 menu as well 😋.

The hype is real! This place was packed! The food is really good and the grill table is an experience! We had a team building night and had a super great time. Picked the gyi-kaku fiest and it was the greatest pick ever. Everything was delicious and there is also the fun in cooking it yourself - it is epic! I would highly recommend this place! Gyu kaku is worth it!

We absolutely loved it! AI was our server and he was awesome! It was our first time at a Japanese BBQ spot so we were clueless as to what to do and order, we got one of the combos which came with filet Mignon, pork belly (our favorite) shrimp, steak, sushi, beef, soup, salad and Oh My God so much more other things I forgot lol. It was well seasoned, from the meats to the soup n salad. Our drinks were really good as well! Over all we had amazing time n we loved the food can’t wait to go back and bring the whole family. This spot was a A+ for sure.

Food is too notch. Service was the best. One of the best ramen places in town.

This restaurant seems to be suffering from an identity crisis. Is it a yakiniku restaurant or a hip tapas place with horrible service? Frankly, I suggest they concentrate on service instead of wasting time with the Japanese cultural appropriation. Watching a mostly American looking staff stumble through "Happy Birthday" in lukewarm Japanese does not scream authentic. The system that they use to decide who gets what food and when is not working. We were seated and received appetizers pretty quickly. When it came to the meat portions service slowed and there was a lot of confusion. There were many times that my family sat and looked at an empty grill while we waited for the next small course to arrive. We sat and watched as a table that was sat about 20 minutes after us was served the same meal that we had ordered. At one point a server brought two plates of meat, set one down and picked it up and took it to another table, despite our arguments. This was enough to get us to ask for a manager, after that point our service was much better. Pros: Nice environment and an interesting dining experience for those who have never traveled to Asia. We loved the Spicy Tuna Volcano. Cons: Service, Bibimbap style dishes had huge chunks of uncooked garlic in them My advice: An authentic "Asian" experience would have dishes flying out of that kitchen in the order they should be cooked, drop all of the schtick and concentrate on service.

Made a reservation through opentable and got the confirmation. But for some reason the restaurant has no record. But the staff were nice and friendly as they got a table for me. The setting of the restaurant is nice. The calamari I had is a bit over fried. The shrimp dumplings doesn't seem to have any shrimp in or doesn't taste any shrimp. But the beef sukiyaki bimbimp tastes great! As for the BBQ dishes, the staff were pretty good instructing us how long we should cook them. It is a nice experience. The happy hour definitely is a good choice as the restaurant filled up very quickly.

I've never had Japanese BBQ before and went to the soft opening with my family. It's very similar to Korean BBQ but the quality is much better. The ambiance and experience was great. The waitstaff was knowledgeable and very helpful with explaining everything which made dinner much more pleasant. The food was delicious! Would def recommend to my family and friends.

This place is wonderful, and the shrimp dumplings are to die for! Although the rest of our orders were great, I ordered those more than once! The place was full and busy when we came in, and I'd understand if there were a few mistakes committed; but there was none (at least on our part/demands, not sure of the other tables). The staff were professional and kept up with the things we wanted. The experience that me and my friends had here was delicious and memorable. We all knew we'd be coming back again to this place.

Gyu-Kaku is our go-to, especially for festive occasions. Happy hour specials cannot be beat, and the atmosphere is welcoming. The menu is varied, the food is delicious, and preparing the meal is fun. Highly recommended!

I like the place and the food the only bad things is food come out very very slow.. I recommend ,if customers order make sure all the dish came out at the same time. If not then at least half of it,not one by one 😫

The food is wonderfully marinated and so the meat is packed with flavor. We ordered two different 2-person combo and was able to feed a group of 5 people. Plenty of food. This was my first time eating Japanese BBQ as I had only eaten KBBQ before. The grilling experience is pretty similar. We had issues of our meat being stuck to the grill because the grill was just too hot even though it was oiled multiple times. I like that they also tell you how to cook the meat, for instance so many seconds on each side.

I was skeptical but pleasantly surprised. It was a fun and trendy place. The service and food was awesome. Great place to introduce your friends to Japanese/Korean food.

Definitely good and glad I finally got to try it Very friendly staff and the food comes quick It has similar set up to Korean bbq but different in a good way They have the bbq for you to cook and meals that are already cooked Is not over priced and they even have deals that include a bit of everything Also they give you recommendations on what you should get based on what you like I'll be back again

Did not disappoint. Food was amazing. Every dish we order was so rich in flavor. Service was excellent. Definitely returning soon. Who wants to go with me?

We had the best time here! This was our first time visit. The waitstaff was very friendly and very attentive, they explained the menu in detail. They even told us how long to cook each dish when they brought it to the table. The marinades on the vegetables and meats were all delicious! The food was fresh. The restaurant was clean. They changed out the grates and gave fresh oil without prompting. The prices were reasonable and the hot sake was great! We will definitely go again!
