They have the best chicken fried steak and baked potatoes. I don't go often only when I'm craving the best chicken fried steak. I have great childhood memories of this place. I remember my Dad used to take us there when we were kids. When I'm sitting there enjoying my meal it takes me way way back when....lol I sure miss my Dad but all the memories we shared will last a life time.
Even after over 10 years. This is still one of my favorite places to eat in Dallas. You can get a steak, salad, baked potato and Texas Toast. For under 8 Bucks for a sit down meal. If you are in the Oak Cliff, check them out. N it's one of the few places that I go that they remember who I am. Like cheers bar, they remember your name.
Received fantastic service from Lindsey on the patio area. Very friendly and prompt, provided knowledge of the area as I am from out of town. Thank you for that! Food and drinks are as expected, a great stop for casual dinner.

I've been coming here since I was a kid. Good food, friendly service, great prices. "El Torito" is where even our next generation of kids ask to go :)

I Don't Know What They Do To The Baked Potatoes but.... I love them! I've been going to "Big Cow" for years. My oldest son (now 29 yrs) started calling it big cow when he was a toddler because of course the big cow on the roof. It should be designated a historical landmark!
Food is tasty, inexpensive, and quick to your table. Oh and did I mention they have the best tasting baked potatoes?!
Great food, simple menu, excellent prices, and generous portions! This is my new favorite place on the Oak Cliff side of Dallas. The chicken fried steak was huge, the steak was cooked perfectly and served with a piece of Texas toast, a giant baked potato, and a bowl of salad that you are able to top yourself. The folks behind the counter work fast and the staff that work the dining room are accessible for refills or napkins or whatever you want.
Great spot if you're looking for a "simple" steak, potatoes, and salad. I walked in 20 minutes till closing, and my food was fresh like they had just opened. The cook all the way down to the cashier was helpful, friendly, and just wonderful all around. I love to see smiles on faces that are preparing my food!
My steak wasn't seasoned to my liking, but nothing a little salt and pepper couldn't fix. I did notice that they advertise steak/wedge fries, but I received crinkle cut. Still good.
It was not busy. I had their fried steak it was delicious. I loved their side salad. The place was kept clean. My second time here. My first time was on a Sunday and it was busy. I came back early and on a weekday this time. Same service busy or not.
Went here for my birthday dinner. Never been here before. Read reviews and thought we would try it. Well we were so impressed. The service is outstanding. The food fresh and delicious. Steaks had great flavor and so very tender. Each one cooked the way we asked for. Perfection! Baked potato, yes a real baked potato, not a microwave baked potato. Fresh salads and good toppings for both salad and potato. You must go. You won't be disappointed.
We have never had an issue here. . It was getting oretty busy when we went. I got the 8oz Sirloin 🥩 with baked 🥔 the Mr. ordered 8oz ribeye 🥩 with baked 🥔 that also was yummy 😋 its also priced accordingly. We will still be coming back when we need a close to home dinner. 😊
I am 69 and I've been coming here since I was a child. Love it! Hasn't changed quality in all those years. I always have the chopped steak, baked potato, salad and Texas toast. I'm sure there are other things on the menu but this is my favorite and I just can't deviate. LoL My family has tried other steaks, Burgers and such and love them just as much. One of the best affordable high quality family restaurants in Oak Cliff. Drove 30 miles to eat here.
It's a laid-back environment with delicious food.
First time at Charco Broiler. My lunch partner has been once before. I had the country fried steak he had the chopped steak. We weren't sure about how and what to get. Once we realized it was cafeteria style we moved through got a crisp salad from the cooler. I had a baked potato, he didn't get a side. Our food was ready within seconds of ordering. It was very good. We didn't see the dessert case until we had already paid. They looked good.
This place has been around for a while. Great place for a good chicken friend steak and loaded potato it's amazing. There's usually a lady cleaning the tables and also waiting on all the tables as well. Made it hard when we needed something we would just get up and get it ourselves.
I worked at this steak house from 1976-1978 as a a cashier after school and all day Saturday! I was a teenager, and I am so happy to see the Cordova's still running an exceptional restaurant with great food and people 46 years later! Fred ran it then and sons Nick and Glenn would stop by on occasion in their motocross uniforms! I see Nick is running it now and I wish only the best for this amazing family and this incredible restaurant full of memories! Great food, great great atmosphere at a great price!
