We popped into Urban Taco before a movie at the Angelika. This is a cute little place with a neat interior and neon-colored decor. Our server was fast, friendly and quite funny. We told him we were in a time crunch and he did his best to get us in and out of there on time, which we greatly appreciated. The guacamole was delicious! It was served with a good hint of lime, which made it taste very fresh. The chips were fresh and well seasoned. We then tried a couple of the street tacos - one was grilled chicken and the other was fresh corn and they were both deliciousl Our other entree was the Cuban torta (sandwich) which was quite large and was served on fresh white bread with yucca fries and jicama slaw. We had a most enjoyable meal, fresh ingredients, really good service, and decent pricing. We will definitely be back!

I was taken to Urban Taco by a local and I was definitely not disappointed. The tacos were very fresh and full; the side of lime cream corn was excellent and I highly recommend; the slaw was very good and we also enjoyed the different salsa options for our chips. The service was quick and efficient.
If you like enjoying half priced margaritas on a beautiful patio in the heart of uptown, this is your place! Their Thursday happy hour is a great deal and includes over 10 delicious margarita options. Definitely worth a visit!
Thirsty Thursdays!! Have been here twice on Thursday evenings for half-price margaritas - my favorites are the pomegranate and baby mango. The ceviche tower was good but other food was just okay! If you sit outside its fun listening to the live music too! I would come back here for the drinks, but maybe not if I'm too hungry.
Half-price margs on Thursdays = reason enough to check this place out. The patio is also nice to hang out on if you have a night that's not super hot. I definitely suggest getting the ceviche guac... or any of the guacs, honestly. Service is hit or miss some nights, but it's usually pretty friendly and quick. They also have live music occasionally too, which is a nice change from other places in Uptown.
Overall, not the best mexican food in the area, but still worth hitting up fir half-priced margs :)
This place is located in the perfect little spot in town! We were really impressed with the salsa trio; the avocado créma in particular. We both had tacos, so we tried 5 different kinds. The flavored on each taco blended really well. The meat on all of them was not very warm, but the taste was good. Our server was knowledgeable and helpful. I will say I was disappointed in the margaritas. For $9, it was wayy too margarita mix-y. In hopes of a better marg, I ordered the "classic marg's sweeter sister".. Still too tart. Real fruit sangria, on the other hand, yum! I probably wouldn't visit again, but it's worth a visit if you're in the area.
This is my number 1 place to go for margaritas! They have a Thursday special where they have all their margaritas and mojitos half off, the mango swirl is my personal favorite. Great atmosphere their patio has huge fans to which helps keep it cool in summer!
Good lunch. Had fish tacos. Hard to eat but great flavor. Best black beans I have ever had. Will be back!

Since I was born in MX...grew up with a fabulous should have been a chef mom and am often asked where they can find good MX fiod in Dallas. It only took 30 years but I can finally say, Urban Taco.
It's street fare with an urban twist. The tastes and the flavora are right on. Line, chili to, fresh guacamole..micheladas and mole! I mean really--all in one place???? Perfect for happy hour....a family outing...NO GLOW in the DARK CHEDDAR CHEESE HErE!
I like it but don't love it. Food was creative and not standard tex mex. I had the 3 taco sampler. They were ok but it was the two sides (rice and corn) that were great. Margarita was so so. The only negative was how the waitress was trying to bump up the bill. It was so blatant. I didn't order another margarita because it was so annoying. Location and patio are great.

Best pazole I have ever had! Gr8 drinks gr8 salsas & not cheap but they use really quality ingredients! Yes the service is slow & yes it is loud inside but I have been pleasantly surprised by this place & eat here @ 2 times a month!

Pricey Taqueria-hig rent district. I work nearby but never stopped here because parking, well, leaves a lot to be desired. But since I was not driving that day, and someone else way paying, we stopped here for lunch.
Once the obnoxiously loud music was turned down (I swear the folks across the street at Walgreens were cheering), it took me a while to tackle their huge menu (despite the name, tacos are not all they serve).
Started off with the Ceviche Guacamole: delicious citrus-marinated fish blended with a silky-smooth guac was heavenly (the day old dry and chewy backet of chips to go with them were horrible). At $11, glas I was not getting the bill though.
At arounf $2.75 a taco, these authentic little gems are pricey but oh so tasty: for $9.95 you get to pick three from their list of a dozen tacos, plus two sides. I went traditional with my tacos: Al pastor, Carnitas and Barbacoa. Black beans and Corn in creamy cheese sauce were great.
Patio seating is the place to sit if the weather is nice: if you don't mind the road noise from Mckinney right in front of you.
Modern Tacos. After eating at Taco Diner in the West Village, this as such a treat. The sauces were innovative and the tacos fresh and hot. This is definitely an urban, hot delicious spot. I had the corn lima taco and spicy chicken. Both did not disappoint and were composed of interesting combinations and spices and freshly homemade. This is a good spot worth trying!
Fantastic food. Love the ambience, the food was exceptional. The trio of salsas are so amazing. The only down-side - they allow smoking on their patio. That should go. I had to move inside, but other than that. It was great.
Actubally pretty good. We weren't expecting much but were very pleasantly surprised when we had dinner here. The tacos are great, some of the most creative and good tacos vie had in a while and the service was pretty good too. This place is definitely worth a try.
Really cool design and even cooler tacos! They have a broad variety of tacos to order, including vegetarian options. The tacos came out fast and fresh, and filled with flavor. The queso was surprisingly good but a small size. The shrimp taco was by far the winner of the tacos we tried that day, but all were worthy of coming back for.
Velvet tacos is by far our favorite taco place. Our family favorite is #12 and the elote. The ingredients are always fresh and everything is made in house. The tacos are very large and filling.
The food was great, definitely will go back. The chimichurri steak was ok it needed something else but the best one I had was the Chipotle BBQ Pork and the Kobe Smash Burger is aways my wife favorite
The only thing I'd like to see is if they went back to cane sugar sodas like they used to have.

Fantastic food, quick service, great drinks (try the sangrita!) and a really upbeat but relaxed atmosphere. Love the vibe at this place, and can’t fault the food! The buffalo chicken taco was the best, and the elote guac is not to be missed either.
Good and different tacos. Prices around 6$ each. People in the staff very kind and helpful.
The bar, when inside too warm, but outside they have tables and those are great to be if the weather is good.

Excellent tacos and service! Seating indoors and outdoors. Wasn't too busy on a Monday evening. We ordered the chicken Tikka, BBQ pulled pork, and brisket barbacoa tacos. We liked the BBQ pulled pork, chicken tikka, and brisket (in this order). Eloltes was also excellent. We also ordered a margarita, which was okay. Their red velvet cake was the big surprise. So moist and absolutely delicious. The red hot sauce on the tables is awesome. Staff is welcoming and friendly. Will visit again to try their other offerings.
Loved every bite and moment at Velvet Taco! The Chicken and Waffle taco and the Chipotle BBQ pork taco were outstanding. The tots with egg were better than I could have imagined. And shout out to the Jalapeño Popper Guac which looked like it would be underwhelming but was stellar. Chef's kiss!
The food was unique and tasted great. Wide variety of choices. Hot and fresh... came out super quick. The service was particularly friendly (Thanks Frankie.... you're the best man!). Nice location with seating inside and outside. I'd eat here again. Oh... and the tots with the bacon and egg was really good.
Velvet Taco has been a staple during my time in Dallas for over 10 years! It was one of the first places I tried when I got here. It has remained consistent and delicious! My favorite tacos are the buffalo chicken and picnic chicken! Gotta have the elote, and a margarita (half frozen/half on the rocks) to complete your meal. The red velvet cake with that caramel drizzle is everything! If you want an amazing twist to traditional tacos, you definitely want to try these curated unique tacos!

First time coming here, absolutely blown away by how creative their tacos are. Like everything is so good and well put together! The chicken and waffles taco was the best taco I’ve ever had bar none. The chicken tikka masala, paneer tikka masala, tofu hot chicken, and fried cauliflower tacos all get honorable mentions. All are great options. The cake is really good too.

Great taco spot. I stopped in for lunch and had the chimichurri steak taco, Korean fried rice, and pork belly special. All were amazing! Super friendly staff and great outdoor space.

I’m just going to say, yes they’re a little pricey but they’re so so worth it. Everything here is so yum and they’re so accommodating to what you’re into (peep lettuce instead of bread). Their red velvet cake is very yum and personally I only eat halal/kosher meat but their seafood/veg/tofu options are divine. 10/10
