Review Sassetta - Dallas

Chris L.
Update: We have been back several times, driving well over an hour and paying a babysitter $20 per hour, so I can get the delicious rigatoni. The waiter last night told us that a new menu is coming in a few weeks. Please for the love of everything don’t get rid of the rigatoni or whipped ricotta. These items have us driving across the great state of Texas and battling the crazy Dallas roads to eat! 💜 Husband loved the chicken dish and now we’re scared it may disappear. Everyone is friendly, but service was pretty slow, it took a very long time to get refills and check last night. Also, It was freezing inside the restaurant as well. We sat next to the open window and it was 76 outside and they kept offering to close the window, but it was warmer outside than inside. Original:We went twice while staying in the Joule hotel. Very delicious. The burnt honey pizza sounds crazy and I’m picky, but I liked it. The Caesar salad is really good. Loved the whipped ricotta. Rigatoni pasta was so flavorful and filling. Husband loved the scallops. The first night we went was a Wednesday and service was a little slow. They were out of several items, but today (Friday night) they had what my husband wanted and service was much more speedy so I’m glad we gave them another try.

Saturday late evening. Not crowded (holiday weekend) good food and service. Great view for people watching. Large portions. Expected pricing for major downtown luxury hotel.

Sasetta was absolutely delicious! We started with the tuna tartare and I had a lovely, colorful, yummy salad. Jessica was our server and was very thoughtful and welcoming. Great job! Only one thing, I would encourage a gluten free pasta and crust. I went to two other restaurants this week that had those options

I’ve been a few times now and I’ve never been let down. The service is always fantastic, the food is great and they have a nice wine selection. I’ve tried their appetizers, entrees and dessert - their whipped feta appetizer is my new regular it’s so delicious, and you can’t go wrong with their duck bolognese. I’ve even brought my Italian mom here as well and she approved. I think the price is good for what you get. Highly recommend this place 😊

We came here for a date night when we were in town visiting, and decided to sit at the bar. Even though we weren’t hungry we ended up eating and spending almost 3 hours here. First of all, the service is wonderful. Everyone was so kind and helpful, and we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with the bartenders. We ended up getting the caesar salad to share, two entrees, and a dessert. Also the cocktails and wine we had were all fantastic. One of the best meals I had in a while. I can’t wait to come back.

The restaurant is extremely chic and tastefully decorated. Great vibe. The two servers we had were very efficient and attentive. The food was fantastic, I couldn’t recommend it more. We’d come back here again and again!

What a perfect little spot! It was quiet for my late lunch and the service was PERFECT! 10/10 Glad I came here.

This is a beautiful restaurant with a nice atmosphere located inside a posh hotel. Staff is very friendly; our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu etc. The pastas were fresh, tasty and portioned nicely. We were disappointed with the pizza. It didn’t meet our expectations. It was very dry and you couldn’t even make out the ingredients. The desserts were good too. So it’s not a 5 star in our opinion, but it’s a pretty good restaurant.

I think Sassetta is a tad to fresh to be judged. I understand that previously it was an amazing place but right now they don't have their feet under them yet. The food I sampled was fine, nothing blew me away, but it was good. The price for most things on the menu was quite affordable, especially considering it's downtown in a hotel. The service was friendly but besides the waitress not fully trained. I know it's only a few weeks in but I think they have some work to do in order to get back to the prime Sassetta.

We went on opening night. Beautiful decor. Staff was helpful and friendly. The cauliflower caesar was SO good. To the point that we kept looking at it like how can something taste so amazing? Also got the Taleggio which was delicious too. Got a couple pastas that weren’t too memorable. The olive oil lemon cream cake was tasty. Overall good experience. Would go back.

Sorry for the photo but it was TOO GOOD. Rigatoni with burrata and jalapeño… OMG I just had a delightful mix of flavors and textures…. 10000% recommended … Melinda was my server so amazing and sweet. 1000 out of 10

Had dinner here because we stayed upstairs at the Joule, but the overall experience was surprisingly good. Victoria did a great job taking care of everything I could think of. Food-wise, the meatballs are must-try. I also liked the Calamari Fritto as well — it could be even better if the calamari were a bit chewier. You’ll find Shrimp Panzenella very tasty if you enjoy sweet-sour salads. They used pesto instead of basil leaves for margherita, giving the pizza more herbal flavor, which was pretty interesting and not bad to me. The Carpaccio was a bit too salty but they were cool to take it off my bill once I pointed that out — impressive management.

Ok! How do I say this place isn’t amazing. Especially because the staff is so pleasant and polite. The bartenders are literally incredibly and genuine amazing people. I had a few different drinks, a salad and pasta. I heard pizza is really good. Will be going back again soon.

10 out of 10!! Every bite was perfection. The scallops were by far the best I've had anywhere and the carrot puree was soooo good. I'm tempted to go back tonight.

One of my favorite restaurants in dfw reopened downtown in the Joule hotel. Must get is the meatball appetizer. We got the crab raviolli, which was tasty but slightly too lemony. Great service as well. Free 2 hour valet.

Sassetta is back with a vengeance in their new location at the Joule downtown! Everything was excellent. The tuna carpaccio and the cauliflower caesar were both real show stoppers, the fresh pasta was spot on, and the service was top notch. Can’t wait to come back. A great addition to the downtown restaurant scene!

The food was wonderful/ creative and delicious! The atmosphere was splendid: chic, contemporary: yet soothing and inviting! The management attentive and accommodating. And then there was Katy, my server du soir! So knowledgeable about the wine selections! She really should become a sommelier! Her recommendations were spot on for my dinner and wine selections, quite accurate for my palate! Oh, I will certainly be back for more. Did you know they serve breakfast daily, serving lovely baked pastries. Lunch and dinner menus are so inviting!! Sometimes, a girl just needs some good Tuscan red wine, a plate of lasagna and a side of roasted Brussel Sprouts and grapes slithering in a bath of Gorgonzola cheese sauce! Mmmmmm!

So amazing!! The atmosphere is great, our waiter Tyler was so awesome and really knowledgeable and did a great job helping us process the menu! The food is INCREDIBLE!! We had the octopus starter, cauliflower steak salad, burnt honey pizza and the shrimp spaghetti, and finished it all off with the delicious lemon cake and a surprise side of the best espresso gelato I have ever tasted! Can’t wait to go back! Definitely going to be a regular spot for us!

Every time I dine here I am pleasantly surprised by some new dish we try. Our server’s knowledge of the wine list was impressive too. I had to be corrected (it’s okay I’ve had EST training I can handle being wrong) about the Brunello we ordered. The best thing about this visit was our guest loved their experience too. They enjoyed everything we ordered and were impressed with the extensive wine list, comparing it to another popular Italian restaurant near by. Our fourth visit and all good again!

Overpriced for what you get. I got a pizza smaller than what I can order from any number of other pizza places and paid more money. The thing that really got me - I had water and they charged a "beverage fee". Really? ! Taste of food was ok but nothing to rave about. It was very loud so it was hard to have a conversation. I probably won't go back. On th he upside, we did get a really nice waitress and she took good care of us.

LOVE this place. Food is great.... no complaints on anything we have tried, and we have been sampling the menu each visit. The gnocchi is to die for!

A disappointing visit to this new place. Food was ok but service need much improvement. For there to be so many wait staffs, they are the most inefficient operating restaurant. Waiting more than 10 mins to take our order & nearly 15 mins for a dessert menu were unacceptable. Dessert was skip bc I value my time. A revisit will be unlikely.

Thanks Sassetta! Cool concept and incredible food and staff ... especially special sous-chef Nick Boss...well he's my son but along with the team, they've created something very special for DFW food lovers!

We had an incredible dinner- the food was expertly prepared, the wine list is well curated and perhaps the best part was our server, Liselle, who thoughtfully guided our evening with exceptional knowledge and care. We will definitely return!

The food is amazing! Had lasagne and a ravioli entree, vegetable starter, and a banana dessert. Everything was wonderful! Can’t wait to bring friends. Took me a while to find the door - cool door but it should have the name in it. It just looks like a part of the wall - so it’s weird.

Great place, and great atmosphere. It was loud, but what popular, packed restaurant isnt? Food was wonderful, special was amazing and our waiter was absolutely wonderful. Can't wait to try breakfast!

Took our daughters for a celebratory dinner for a great academic year and had a delicious dinner from start to finish. They made the girls special fizzy mint lemonades and the chef came out to say hi and drop off their congratulatory dessert. Our server John was top notch and we look forward to coming back. Anyplace that makes octoupus so delicious that 2, 11 year olds devour it is doing something right!

The food, service, and atmosphere were absolutely amazing! I would recommend this restaurant to all of those who love Italian food and ambience.

Great outdoor atmosphere !!! Enjoyed meatball small plate and pizza in the Design District!

What a treasure in the heart of the Design District! Friendly and welcoming staff, great wine list and every course was perfect!

Nick and Katie and Mr. Miller are wonderful. Not only is the food delicious, but the staff is extremely friendly and all help one another at every table. My favorite place for Italian!!!
