I'd like to say I've had worse BBQ, but I don't think I have. Could have just been an off day, but the brisket, ribs and pulled pork I got were all covered in creosote due to poor fire management. Super bitter, and left my mouth almost totally numb. Could have been an off day, but I dunno if I'll be back. Ribs were cooked really well, just full of creosote. Brisket could have been rested longer, it was a little tough, but the fat was rendered well. Pulled pork was cooked perfect, but the bark was full of bitter creosote. Mac and Cheese was great, outside of the (I'm guessing) brisket fat full of creosote added to it that made it bitter. Beans were the best thing I had that day next to the BBQ sauce.

Hands down the best BBQ I've ever had. I've been eating this brisket for 12 years and it never disappoints. The potato salad and beans are to die for. Don't get me started on the Mac n cheese.... You can buy his BBQ sauce there or at Ace Hardware. Mr. Brooks is a good man and a great American. You get what you pay for..

I honestly don't know how this place gets such good reviews. It was seriously the worst BBQ I've ever had. The smoke is super dirty, so all the meat was covered in gritty, horribly tasting bark. The meat itself was pretty good, the ribs and brisket were tender. But the outside parts of the meat just weren't edible. I'm pretty sure they take the rendered brisket fat and pour it in the mac and cheese. It's super greasy, and has that horrible burnt creosote flavor. It was not edible. I took 2 bites and threw it away. The potato salad was mayo-heavy, which I don't like, but is a personal preference. We spent $55 for 2 2-meat plates and 2 drinks, which is pretty standard for BBQ. It was just so disappointing, and I left hungry.

After leaving in Katy for more than 15 years I have heard such Great Reviews of this establishment. We arrived almost when he was about to close. The meat was a bit dry for my taste and overcooked. Potato Salad tasted like Mayo. Not to mention a bit over priced.

One of my favorite BBQ places!!!! The owner not only smokes a mean brisket, but he also gives back, time and time again to his community. Great local business to support! ❤️

Got the two meat plate with pulled pork and brisket with coleslaw and potato salad. The meat was very flavorful and the sauce was a great complement to it (For the portion of meat there was, I would have preferred a little more sauce). Potato salad also was yummy. The coleslaw had "craisins" and almonds in it, which is an interesting take on that dish to me. Service was friendly and fast. Overall, very good experience picking up BBQ here.

I heard about brooks' Place not long ago from a friend. I finally got a chance to visit, and I was blown away. It is totally worth the drive from wherever you are in the Houston area. First, about the meat – wow the meat! The brisket was moist and flavorful, with a great amount of smoke flavor, but not overpowered by it. And the bark was the most distinct bark I’ve ever seen on a brisket. I also had to try the locally-made venison and jalapeno sausage. It had a great grind and fantastic flavor. The potato salad was very creamy and delicious. Next the location – they are a food truck, permanently parked out front of an ACE Hardware at Barker Cypress and FM529. It felt like they are a long way from everything. But the truth is, it’s not hard to get there from most parts of Houston. They’ve been here for 9+ years now, so the location is obviously working just fine for them. They use mostly red oak, with some pecan mixed in. And they keep the temp in the pit right around 250. If you ever find yourself near the Berry Center or down in that Copperfield/Riata Ranch area, take the time to stop by Brooks’ Place. You will not be sad you did.
