Carl's Barbecue

This was once was my go to smoke shack for good BBQ. Now I could pass it up or just get a taco off the truck. First of all service is a plus for me. The service has went down to a 2/10 for me from a 5 years ago. The attitude the other night was come in if you want to like. No smiles. Only what you need/ what you want attitude. There are too many bar b que places on 290 to pick from now. Quality vs quantity. I feel with prices going up, people will still pay for quality BBQ. If it is good it is just good. Not here. The quality is maybe a 4/10. Quantity 2/10. Portion sizes of meats is super small. I am not looking for a buffet. However, the first person in line you see is the line chef with the knife. He is prepared to cut and serve you the smallest portion of brisket, sausage and ribs one has seen in a lifetime. Enough said. If you pass this restaurant up, don't feel bad. One is really not missing much. If you stay and get served with good and mediocre service . Have at it. At least you know what you will be expecting. Choose your table and the meal. Enjoy the journey.

First time here saw picture online spent $40 on food but was disappointed the onion rings were chewy and over cooked like they'd been reheated, the coleslaw had no flavor. I got the Texas chow down and the potato was still hard had to reheat in microwave. Brisket was not to my liking but everyone taste bud are different it was cooked good and very tender and the potato salad was alright, but i wouldnt go back it not for me.

Carls has always been a tradition for us. Husband grew up going here and introduced me to it 13 years ago....has been our place to go since. A very welcoming place especially when you have been there so many times that even the employees know what you want and remember you every since time. Food: its great! Texas chow down with chopped brisket is our go to. Our kids...its the meat platter. And you can't go wrong with the sweet tea! 😋 Definitely a place to add to your to eat list.

This place USED to be amazing! I went in for a late lunch today and NEVER AGAIN. Food was OK, the meat was good, but loaded mash had more grease than anything else. The cobbler was worth the trip almost, but charging extra for bread was a laugh to me. The lady working the register and answering the phones is what gets this a 1 star review. She was so rude and very unpleasant during the time we were trying to eat, banging the phone and yelling at the other person to hurry and tell her what they wanted.

Our first time here and we enjoyed it. Quiet, cozy atmosphere with friendly people and employees. The food was good. We were quickly served by smiling employees and enjoyed the food. The meat was tender and tasted good and they had a great choice of side dishes that also tasted great. Nice place to relax and get full.
