Busy Bee Cafe

I went there specifically to have a diner-style burger. I was expecting a juicy/greasy patty of ground beef. Worst. Burger. Ever. It was a mixture of ground beef, bread, flour, and then fried (deep fried?) to the point of having a hard shell. It had NO flavor. I took several bites, hoping it would get better, but it didn’t, so I gave up. We were told that they sell “hundreds per day”, though. I guess the price is the appeal (for those who are on the verge of true starvation maybe!) — only $2.75 for a “cheeseburger”. You get what you pay for, so I should’ve known better.

We really enjoyed our visit to this historic diner. The waitress was very nice and accommodating even tho we arrived only 15 minutes before closing time. Food was very good and we both said if we worked in the downtown district we could see ourselves eating there every single day. We not only ate dinner but ordered another dinner to go, since we live a couple of hours away. Prices were amazingly low.

I had fried green tomatoes. They were AWESOME! I had some fried pickles also. They were delicious, but just a bit greasy. I phoned in our order, and even tho it was sitting by the register waiting when I walked in...the food was still hot. Sweet cashier with a smile too. Can't wait to eat here again.

I just traveled back in time! I had their cheeseburger made with a meat patty mixed with bread like old timey diners used to do. I had not been to the bee in over 20 years so this was a real treat. The fries were good and the customer service was great. If you like diners with just good ole cooking, this is the place to go.

Our first local experience in Cullman. This little diner seemed nice and the reviews were so good we decided to give it a try. When we walked in, the server looked at us and turned away. We took a seat and she brought drinks and stood there with pen and pad in hand looking at me. Never said "how are you doing" or "what can I get you" nothing. We noticed that when locals came in they were super sweet and said welcome each time someone came in. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. We ordered the pancakes with eggs and sausage and the 2 eggs with bacon and biscuit and gravy. The pancakes, sausage and bottom of the biscuits were WAY overdone and the gravy was just ok and the grits had that film that grits get when they have sat on a plate too long and have gotten a little cold. The food came out pretty fast, so it made me think the grits had been sitting on the plate before I ordered.
