Here right now! Do not come here! Owner is eating at a table. We have been her for 45 minutes and have not even received any service. This is the worst restaurant experience I have have been involved with. Update…we never even received our food and the young ladies working there did not even care. While we were sitting there they were at a back table playing in their phones. We finally just said give us the bill for our drinks and left. To cap it off, they gave us a patronizing “thanks, please come again” as we were walking out….needless to say I will not be ever coming back even though I live 3 minutes from there.

I had a nice little lunch to go from here the other day. Decided to pop in and just order a few rolls at the counter. The owner was super friendly and I thought the sushi was awesome. Will definitely return and recommend.

Overpriced and the new owners from next door have made the menu overly complex. No longer a Japanese restaurant... Now it's an Asian fusion place. I have always thought that the sushi was decent, but now that the place has lost its identity, it's hard to predict its future.

Ugh. Visited for the first time with a party of six. A wait for water. Longer wait for the drinks ordered, some of which were gotten wrong. Another wait for the complementary soup, which was delivered by a team of three wait staff, slowly. The hot and sour soup lacked spice heat and vinegar tang. The stir fried Mongolian steak was requested rare and delivered medium. Almost everything was unpleasantly sweet. It has been reported to being benefited by new management, but I saw no evidence of that.

Big improvement. I dined at Tchoupstix a while back, and needless to say, the service and food was not up to par. I recently just dined there, and I must say the change from the service, to the bar, to the food is absolutely amazing. The menu has improved drastically, and the presentation of the food is wonderful! I highly suggest giving them another try if you have not already, I was very pleased!!

Under new ownership and management! Food has totally changed- all sauces are made in house, seafood delivered fresh every day, new bartender, etc. A total facelift to the restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious!!!

The sushi here doesn't taste fresh like it should. And my jalapeño banger appetizer was missing a jalapeño. Whoever the chefs are, they didn't really care about my food that day. Service was excellent though. Oh and my 13 dollar special roll was terrible. Filet mignon... You would think it'd be a nice filet piece on top torched, but it was ground up mystery meat. Definitely NOT what it was supposed to be. If you want fresh sushi, go to Twin or Kazoku.

So disappointed. I am quite disappointed with this restaurant. I had a to go order and when the lady told my my total over the phone I was taken back by the amount. When I went in I asked for an itemized receipt to see the break down. They not only charged $3.00 for a tiny cup of green tea but $3.00 for a "clear" soup that was pure soy sauce with maybe 3 tiny noodles and charged $7.00 for snowcrab salad that was slathered in mayonnaise. Then I noticed they charged $.50 for a "to go" box charge. Seriously? .50 cents for a to go box? The box probably cost the restaurant .15 cents at max. You do not charge for a to-go box. That is like charging dish soap to wash your dishes, a straw to drink your drink or a boutique to charge for your shopping bag. Not to mention they took tofu off their menu! What kind of japanese restaurant doesn't serve tofu? For these very reasons I will no longer be returning to Tchoupstix's for any occasion. I will continue to go to Little Tokyo or Yujin where the sushi is better, the green tea is cheaper, there is no "to go box" charge and the clear soup is actually clear AND complimentary.

I recently caught wind that the menu is possibly going to change. Already I notice the beef and chicken teriyaki are already different. It's more juicer and taste is out standing. They actually starting seasoning their proteins and also marinating them to. Jalapeño bangers are a must have for an appetizer. I've been eating there for the past month and have nothing to say beside food is getting better but the service needs to step it up a lil more.

I used to think this place was okay, but on a recent visit, the food was bad enough and service horrible enough to convince me not to give it a second chance. I was appalled to hear an employee speak very disrespectfully to a customer after she simply asked why the dish she usually ordered came out differently that particular night, and it was just an unacceptable situation. Even though the rudeness was not directed at me, I will not return. Besides that, don't even bother looking at the menu - last time we went they were out of everything on it or serving things differently from the way they were listed. I'll continue to be a loyal customer at Megumi around the corner and will not return to Tchoupstix!!

Rolls are amazing. Tuna tataki was dry and consisted of poor cuts of tuna. The snowcrab salad was also dry with an odd texture but the rolls were INCREDIBLE! Spicy tuna and cajun roll made my day.

I love sushi here. It is amazing. The service is excellent. The creative drinks highlight the atmosphere of the restaurant. my personal favorite is the shrimp and scallop pasta. Also the temp or cheesecake is simply one of the best I have ever had. The sushi is made fast and brought to your table quickly and on time it is always fresh. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Can someone pay attention to us please?. There are WAY too many places on the north shore to eat for these people to treat customers the way they do. We had to wait for everything. The meal was brought out in pieces, not together. It was very disappointing because the food was actually good.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!. It's really a shame because this place has some amazing sushi, but the service is beyond horrible! Takes FOREVER to get a server.. actually the last two times I've been we had the poor excuse for a manager serve us, and his service was worse than the actual waiters. We got our rolls before out appetizer, and when we did get the appetizer it was cold. Drinks didn't come until our rolls came. Took at least 20 minutes after we were finished eating to get our bill, and that was after my boyfriend got up to hunt someone down who worked there. When the manager finally brought us the bill he said "oh, I forgot about yall" NO apology or anything! Really professional! Just tried to call in a take out order (you would think they would want to answer the phone since every roll is around $12) but not only did they take forever to answer (i called 4 times) but when they FINALLY decided to answer they picked up the phone and hung it right back up!!!! I am BEYOND annoyed right now! I don't know who owns this place, but they need to have a serious intervention with the staff! RUDE, RUDE, RUDE!!! WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD!

Food is great...however, the service is not worth the effort. We've been here many times and swear we won't go back due to service. This week was the last straw...left after waiting on food for an hour that was apparently sitting on top of sushi bar waiting to be delivered to our table. If you choose to go- good luck!!!

Well.. If you want sushi on the north shore I would highly recommend that you did not go here .. The service is horrid along with the mgt staff.. Especially "josh.." Who has no business dealing w the public relations .. Very sad to be lied to on closing times w family in town and expecting an established to take reservations then say.. " business was slow..( wonder why..) so we are took it upon ourselves to close early.. Extremely poor for a local business to expect to survive w such a poor attitude .. Then to be hung up on by the manager "Josh" ( who would not give his last name .. "Only to say ..that he was the only Josh there ..") So..after rushing to meet a scheduled reservation time .. This was the worst experience I can possibly say , I have ever experienced .. If you are however looking for good sushi Twin Sushi is a lovely place to go with the best sushi and an owner that is on site who actually cares about her customers

Great food HORRIBLE service. First off, their food is very good, good enough to make me return despite their unfriendly staff who act as if you are in their way when you sit down to eat. If you are going to eat here on your lunch break, be prepared to return to work late. It usually takes about 15 minutes for someone to take your order, then maybe another 20 for them to bring your appetizer, another 10 for you entree. And then you have to HOPE they bring you everything (plates, chopsticks, sauces) when you get your food because you probably won't see your waiter again!

Great sushi rolls-horrible service. The service at this restaurant is (unfortunately) unaccoptable. I love the food, but will not return after having two 20+ waits on lunch orders (to go) that I called in 20 minutes prior to pick up time. I have dined in numerous times and 80% of he time, the service has been horrible to the point of having to walk over to sushi bar and complain. The staff are not seasoned, and seem to do only enough to get by. That is a sign that management is not good. The menu offereings are excellent. My favorites are the Mai Tai Roll, Cajun Roll and the Jalapano Poppers. I will probably jsut use Saki 21 (formerly Osaka 21) in he future. Just not worth the headache.

First time I went there, I waited 10 minutes and no one greeted us so we left. The second time, I ordered 3 rolls to go and waited 50 MINUTES! It's not like they had to cook anything. While I was waiting, a guy told me that he waited an hour for 1 sushi roll! Then I came home and they forgot my eel sauce! Ugh!!! Worst service ever!!!

AMAZING.. This is the best sushi I have ever had. The rolls are bigger than what I have gotten at other sushi restaurants. I had the coconut shrimp tempura for an appetizer. It was perfect with the sauce- sweet and crunchy with a bit of salty. They did open up my taste buds regarding sushi. I used to only eat snow crab rolls, but the King Neptuna and Crisp and Creamy Salmon are my favorites! My boyfriend loved it as well- he had the yellowtail. The staff is friendly and excellent. I wanted my sauce on the side and they gladly did that for me. The decor is great. I love how unique the metalwork is. I would definitely recommend this place to others. I can't wait to try one of their entrees next time! I have been here 3 times, and the food quality has been the same each time.

Have been going here since it opened. the quality is really excellent. the things they do, they do VERY well. the clear soup is always delicious. sushi favorites are Mardi Gras Roll (OMG), Who Dat Roll, Geaux Tigers Roll, seafood salad (huge) and snow crab salad (also huge). service is always acceptable, but there is a lot of turnover. atmosphere is meh with the weird decor and TV's all over, but I come for the sushi and am never disappointed. prices are higher than a few years back, but not outrageous. i hope they're here for a long time.

I loved everything. I have to admit that I am a sceptic when it comes to the new trendy sushi bars popping up everywhere. It seems like there are a million and 1 chooky little "sushi" bars filled with expensive "looking" decor, and providing mostly greasy fried fast food barely resembling sushi rolls at all. And that was my first impression when I hesitantly walked into Tchoupstix Sushi and Grill in Covington. But I put my assumptions to the side and with an open mind sampled some of the cuisine. The atmosphere upon first glance is nothing to look twice at, but there is a pleasant mood there that I was not expecting. It is clear that the restaraunt runs as a team, and anyone employed there has met someones high standards. The menu has all the traditional faves as well as a not so bizarre VIP rolls selection. It was a nice change from the current trend of the stranger the roll the better and trully seemed like a balanced mix of old and new. The service was top notch and although the food trickled out in an odd and random manner, the pleasant atmosphere and the ever attentive but not too attentive staff completely made up for it. I would definately recommend this restaraunt and will be returning.

Had a great experience there last night. Sat in a very comfy booth, prompt service, great rolls. Waitress not only knew what was on the menu, but knew what was in/on each roll. My husband even wanted to try the eel sauce before he got a roll with some on it and she was MORE than happy to bring home some. We will be returning again and again! ^.^

No good, very bad experience. Six of us were seated in a booth which was actually pretty comfy. It's a good thing too because we waited and waited watching lots of staff passing by but nobody greeted us. Finally a young lady came by, about 7-10 minutes later, just to take a drink order. <br/>My brother checked off the sushi we wanted then wrote the rest of the order on the back of the sushi menu. When our server finally returned my brother reviewed the order he had ritten for her!!!<br/>Our food come out in drips and drabs. We had to ask for the soup that comes with the meal to which we got the response, "they are making it". Eventually, all the food finally came out except the chicken. When our waitress stopped hiding from us and came to the table we questioned her about the missing kids meal. They were out and had to send someone out to the store, she informed us. When asked why she had not informed us of the issue so that we could have made another selection she defensively replied, "It's not my fault, they just told me. Do you still want the meal?". When we let her know our child still needed dinner she again vanished for another 5-7 minutes. <br/>In the meantime we asked another server to please send the manager over. Our server finally returned with the kids chicken(that we are convinced was from McDonalds even though our defnsive server stated she would show us the bag) and disgustingly salty fries, stating the manager is making sushi, he will comp the chicken and we can go to the sushi bar if we needed to talk to him. <br/>Really?!?! Is this how you treat paying customers?? Stay away folks!!!!

The menu looked 'kitchy" and the sushi was regular. I would probably not recommend this place to anyone, or ever go here again. Especially with Twin Sushi and Kazoku on the northshore.

Agreed, Tchoupstix is not Megumi. It's better than your average sushi place quality and taste wise. Service was mediocre, food was slow to come out. If I was shopping across the street and I had to have sushi immediately I wouldn't think twice about driving all the way back to Megumi.

Good, Pricey and Sometimes Rude. The food is pretty good, considering very limited options in Covington for sushi. Carefull when ordering takeout from this joint, as the owner is the host. Apparently he frowns upon takeout orders (no drink tab/smaller tip), and is not afraid to let you know it.

Yummy X A Million. This is one of the better sushi restaurants on the North Shore. The service isn't always the best; but, the food is beyond fantastic! We usually sit at the sushi bar when we eat in--service much better there. Our norm, however, is ordering take-out. The kids love the food and are always willing to try new dishes. I would recommend Tchoupstix without any hesitation.

The sushi was good but.... The service sucked. Walked in and the sign said wait for hostess who never cam so wife child adn I sat ourselves. The place had one other person at bar and one other family eating so it wasnt as if it was a busy night. we then waited for the waitress which had no clue we were there since we sat ourselves...ordered our drinks and waited a long time for that to come out which when it did it was followed by the soup. By my own fault half of my soup was spilled onto the table. I asked the waitress to get me some napkins as i made a mess and it took ten minutes before I could clean the mess up and then came the menu. Okay the sushi that we had was good but the choices for acid cooked fish was very limited. Majority of the sushi was created with crab being the base which doess no good for our raw fish taste fix plus it was over priced. between 3 of us with only two of us eating sushi and my son getting only a kids meal it was 75. so if you like crab it is all for you...if i want crab i will go to a N.O. food restaurant. I will definitely not be returning to this one.

Great food...great service. This restaurant is by far the best Japanese restaurant in the Mandeville/Covington area. I have eaten at Tchoupstix dozens of times, and have never had a bad experience. The food is always fresh and beautifully prepared, and the employees are always so personable and friendly. Love it!

The resturant, Tchoupstix Sushi and Grill, located off of Hwy 21 in Covington, La was horrible detailed account of our experience was poor service from walking in the door.We had to wait for one to seat us, while staff members just looked. Finally, we got seated and we ordered after waiting approximately 15-20 minutes. When ordering sushi, one is supposed to get soup with their order, however, we never received ours. After notifying the waiter of not bringing our soup, he simply expressed how he forgot and offered the soup after we finished our sushi. If you are looking for good customer service and good food, do not dedicate time to engage in a dining experience here!

Exceptional. Me and my husband are starting to be regulars at Tchoupstix. We enjoy the local atmosphere along with the friendly wait staff. We have tried almost all of Tchoupstix's VIP Rolls and can't say a negative word about one of them! Our favorites: "Paradise", "Cajun", & "Lipstic". As far as the service, when the restaurant is busy the food can take a little longer. However, at other times we didn't wait for our food for longer than 7-10 minutes.

On the fence. I love the food and drinks here, but the service is so bad, that i don't really ever want to sit in the house again.. Bar service is awesome, but sitting at the "sushi bar", it's as if you are in another country, and it's more of a hassle for the servers to give service over there. I was there the other day, and the manager waited on me, getting my tea, seaweed salad, etc. The sushi chef took my food order, and the manager was the one who refilled my tea. then, the server delivered my check, never having said one word to me. needless to say, I tipped the sushi chef, and stiffed the server.
