A popular choice in the high traffic space. The yellow oven really catches my eyes. I got there and saw the various different kinds of Tempura of vegetables and proteins. The onion, shitake ,fishcake and egg tempura all taste awesome. While the eggplant one tastes too oily. Might try for Seimen next time.

IMO is the best udon in OC. Yes, in term of value, it is better than the one in South Coast Plaza. 😅 This place has more varieties of tempura and can add a small rice bowl. 😋😍

Wanted some hot soup noodles for dinner so we went to Sanuki Seimen Mugimaru at Mitzuwa Costa Mesa. There was a line when we arrived. We waited for 10 mins to place our order. We ordered a Katsu Curry Udon, a Zaru Udon and a Kake Udon. At the cashier we added some tempura (eggplant, sweet potato, lotus root, shinsito and pumpkin) to go with our upon. Total price was at $28. Very reasonable priced for the tempura items, size is good too. There are plenty of veggie tempura to choose from. We had to pre-order the tempura sweet potato because it was still cooking. I waited for it after I paid. They almost forgot the order, I had to remind the cashier about it. He was very nice and went to pick up the sweet potato and added to my box to pass to me.

Good Udon soup. The OBB special is great and comes with a concentrated beef flavored sauce, which I like. The #3 Beef Udon is good with a nice broth, but the beef is a little tough. The #8 Pork Udon is good. The #5 Chicken Udon is ok, it's a clear broth, not creamy, and the chicken has a smoked flavor which I don't care for. I like the serve yourself a la carte assorted tempura options.

Line can get a little out of hand but well worth the wait. Portions are reasonable for the price but you will end up spending more once you add a few pieces of tempura. Gave it 4 stars because seating in the food court can be a pain. You'll walk around looking for a spot and it can take a few minutes. You'll have a better time if one person gets in line while the other person hunts down a table. Good spot overall though.

Ordered for take and it was really good!! Flavor of the soup was just prefect and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Tempura was crispy and delicious! Will come back again!

Came here since it was inside of a Mitsuwa marketplace and it was so convenient. Good: - Fast service - they make the food in front of you! - Super kind and happy staff - Loved the curry udon - just had a lot of flavor and udon was freshly made and really well done - Super cheap! Bad: - It’s a supermarket! So don’t expect anything fancy. Overall really nice place to get a quick snack after your shopping trip!

6/20/21: I was craving tempura so that's all I ordered. I loved the selection. The tempura was nicely fried and good flavor, unfortunately as it sits it loses its crunch so mine had started already to become soft and chewy. I was disappointed in the amount of single use plastics and styrofoam being used.

This is the BEST spicy udon you can have anywhere in the world, except may be at Japan itself. I repeat, this is THE udon to live and die for: the broth is rich, the meat cut is plenty, and the tempuras to go with it are just too good, fresh and crunchy Oh, and they are also very cheap for the quality, less than $8 for an udon bowl. MUST TRY. EVERYDAY EVEN, MAYBE

A tidy no frills Japanese lunch experience. Inside a food court, a perfect gourmet fast food experience. Udon texture was perfectly firm and broth was authentic with multiple layers of taste. Tuna-don was fresh and delicious - much better than some fufu sushi bars! I'd definitely recommend this restaurant if you love udon!
