We got to Iowa City late, the staff was awesome even tho we showed up 30 minutes before the kitchen closes, and they were still quite busy! Staff are well trained, polite, professional attitudes! Food was fantastic, HUGE portions!

Great, friendly service with a packed restaurant after a Hawkeye victory!! Our party of 4 was served some very good good food in a timely manner. This was my first trip to Monica's and I was impressed with the wide variety on the menu. I definitely will try the pizza on our next visit.

Very nice attentive staff. Helpful and nice. We ordered salads outdoors. Patio is next to parking lot but we went late afternoon on Sunday so it seemed fine. I had the Brie, walnut, pear salad and added shrimp. It was so good! Bread was on the table and it was also delicious. Cannot wait to bring more friends here to try some more off the extensive, interesting menu! We ordered off the dinner menu so portions would be larger.

We are new to the area and had high hopes for a restaurant that was rated the “best overall restaurant”, but we were very disappointed! One item we ordered was their #1 seller which described a “big casserole dish” of baked ziti, but what we got was a half full to-go container. We transferred it to a paper plate to re-heat it and as you can see the portion size was not as described. It was actually laughable. The other things we ordered were mediocre at best. Super disappointing and a total waste of money. Will not be ordering again.

Food is always top notch and the service is fantastic. If you don't know what you're in the mood for, you are guaranteed to find something that satisfies your appetite here. Love the menu variety and each item is prepared well. Always a safe bet for a great meal.

Absolutely delicious food. Almost didn't know what to choose because the menu was so large. Anyone can find something they like here. They had more gluten free options than many restaurants. The food feels like it belongs in a more expensive restaurant, but this is a place you could go whenever. And the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. Went here on a whim but we will definitely be going back and trying something new.

They have handled the pandemic with grace and the disability community is so grateful for them. Dine-in or carry-out, the food is always exceptional, a place the whole family loves - even the gluten intolerant ones! The staff and especially the owner make you feel genuinely welcome. Amazing people!

I don’t understand why people like this place. It charges as much as Basta downtown, but for half the value. The drinks were fine, but not served in the correct glasses. For 10-12$ per cocktail, I would expect them to be better. The food is clearly prepared ahead of time and reheated. The meatballs we got were so hard from the reheating process, there was a crunch when you bit into them. The tomato sauce was watery and not cooked down as you would expect from an Italian restaurant. The menu is way to long, and should be cut in half. I know this place is an “American Italian” restaurant, but this place is as far from authentic Italian as you could be. Alfredo and red tomato sauce should not be mixed in the same plate. So expensive for reheated frozen food. 84$ for 2 people who each ordered 1 drink. Don’t waste your time or money. Service was fine, but were clearly rushing us.
