First off, we moved here from Southern California. Having lived in the diverse, Asian ethnic Garden Grove for several years, we had the privilege to eat at some of the best Asian restaurants, including Viet Namese, Thai, and Korean.
We have tried one Thai restaurant in Murfreesboro, but the familiar flavors of one of our favorite cuisines just wasn't there. We tried to hit a Thai place in Cookeville, but it was closed, sadly. We defaulted to House of Thai, and am I glad we did. We ordered vegetable tempura for a starter. Absolutely the **BEST** tempura we have had anywhere, beautifully prepared and cooked to perfection. The Massaman curry took me back to a place we frequented for several years (the clientele in the Thai restaurant that was a favorite for years, was predominantly of Thai descent, and that's always a solid affirmation of authenticity). The curry was soooo good, and seasoned perfectly, with the right thickness of sauce, served in a large portion. The Thai Iced Coffee was outstanding and rich. We will be back!!!
Food was really good. I got mine “Thai Hot” and it was hot but definitely could of been hotter. I visibly noticed that they put Log of chili flakes/chili sauce in the food as opposed to making the curry hotter. It as still really good.
We tore it all up.
Got 2 curries, 2 stir fries, a couple appetizers and some fried rice. Everything was great.
Sadly I did not get a picture this time of my Green Shrimp Curry, I was so excited to dig in. I'm always bad about that... I've taken an interest in curries lately and tried to make my own, but had never had an actual curry to know if mine was any good. So I decided to give this place a try. This was last Tuesday... I have been craving it every day since! H.O.T. is HANDS DOWN the best place in town I've eaten as far as quality of food so far. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, nearly melted in your mouth and was not rubbery. They were huge too and plenty of them! I was impressed as I kept finding them in the bowl as I spooned it out onto the Jasmine Rice. The flavor of the curry was complex, it kept unfolding as I chewed and after I swallowed. Hungry as I was, It took me about 15-20 minutes or so to eat it as the portion was big and I wanted to savor each bite. While I was blown away by the curry and the amazing, complimenting Thai Tea (which is what you get if you ask for unsweet tea) that had hints of vanilla in it- I was disappointed in the Shu- mai dumplings. They gave us 4 that were about as big around as a dollar coin. Definitely not worth $7.45 for just the dumplings. Next time I go I won't be getting the Shu-Mai again but will be sure to get pictures and leave a review for what I do get.
I always get take out, and have never dined in. Normally the food is great! Not this time. No sushi on Mondays. They were busy the Monday that I went. The noodles were overcooked and solid like they had been sitting out. (I ordered when I arrived). Things happen, occasionally. Overall, the food is generally excellent and the servers have been great everytime I've ordered take out.
Phenomenal, everything is delicious. I believe this to be the best Thai place in Cookeville. Pad thai, spring rolls, green curry, doesn't matter; whatever you get, you won't be disappointed.
Tried the sushi today. Loved the Hippie vegetarian roll. Also, had the stand-by favorite, drunken Noodle with tofu. Everything was delicious! Great service.
This place is exceptional! We got off the highway from Nashville to check it out. Come see these guys they’re great!
