Garner Grill

If you are interested in spending the best summer days , I highly recommend Garner State Park . Beautiful , clear and clean Frío River . The river has very shallow and deep waters. Old baldy hike trail it’s absolutely worth it. The view of Mountains and the surroundings are priceless. We enjoy the country music and dance at the end of the night .

Spent two-night camping in late October. We all loved here and this was one of the most beautiful Texas state parks we've ever visited. Shower in Pecan grove campground was really clean and well maintained. Old Baldy and Crystal cave were slightly challenging for little kids because the trail was really rocky but kids were having lots of fun. If you can only visit one state park in Texas Hill Country, this is the one if you know how to avoid the crowds.

The hiking at Garner is hard to beat. The elevations are challenging but the views are worth it. The trails are marked but you still must pay attention. There are several routes to choose from, each with their own personalities. It’s easy to spend the whole day on the trails so go early. Their is a plenty in the park as well from play areas to mini-golf to a grocery store. It’s really a beautiful park. Enjoy!

We camped here for a week in January and loved it. It was too cold to go swimming in the river, but there is lots of hiking and plenty of other things to do. Make sure to try their ice cream and homemade fudge down by the park store. Just make sure to make your reservations in advance, as they fill up fast.

This is a gorgeous place! We've been here many times and camped overnight twice on the last year. The shelters are nice to have if you want to skip the tent. The water is clean and cool for summer weathers. We've also hiked Old Baldy a few times and the scenery from up there is just breathtaking. This is a big state park so there are plenty of space to share. The only feedback I have is the restrooms could be better. There were 4 showers in one of the buildings but 2 were out of order. The public restrooms right across the dam area are a little rundown and could use some cleaning and updating but not a deal breaker. We will be coming back more often.
