Review Sushi En Columbus - Columbus

Makayla Ann
today was my first time trying seafood Let alone sushi. We decided to grab a couple different options. The staff was so nice. It was a very fun atmosphere. We even spoke to the chef, who was very nice. They pay so much attention to detail with the adorable dishware, and how neat and clean the restaurant is. They were very helpful with helping us pick out options as timers. They have expo markers with laminated menus, which is very nice when you suck suck at pronouncing things! This was probably the best experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. It is also a good price for how much food you get. I was very surprised with how filling sushi is. Absolutely loved the spicy mayo, And the crab was my favorite. I absolutely loved the miso soup the most. It was a suggestion for our server after we ordered our food. I had never had tofu before, and it was surprisingly good. The broth was to die for!! I highly recommend this experience because everybody was so nice and so helpful. It is such a neat, clean and well kept restaurant. 10000/10!!!

When it comes to sushi in the Columbus area, this place has to be one of the best I have had. Wide variety and many rolls that are unique to this restaurant only. Service was a bit underwhelming at times when drinks would go empty. Was not impressed with the takoyaki, tasted sour and stale. Everything else was good and appropriately priced.

Had a great time here. The kids were asking for sushi and we picked this place. They all loved it and the food was great. Really enjoyed the Las Vegas roll, Christmas roll and Samurai roll. The staff was great, we got drink refills with no problem and the food came fast. We will be back.

Look at this kids mochi we were surprised with after ordering the sushi boat for our family! Cynthia took AMAZING care of us! Thank you, chefs and restaurant workers! We had a great time!

I cannot tell you how much I love this place. I try and eat here once a week for lunch. Sushi is always fresh and amazing but the goto is the chicken teriyaki bento box. It is a steal for all you get and tastes amazing. I love there are sautéed veggies under the chicken.

I LOVE Sushi En. I get the beef bibimbop and a roll of the samurai every time. It never fails to amaze me. When I have had other sushi rolls, they have all been amazing and well made. Their soups are yummy and flavourful (the mushroom soup has such an amazing flavor to it.) You get a miso soup and a citrus salad with some menu items (I'm not sure if all,) which I love. I'm not a huge fan of the salad, but it's flavorful and unique. The staff is always kind and helpful. When i have had their alcohol beverages, they are strong and delicious. A nice mix of alcohol and sweet on the drinks I get. They have a fair price, and their bowls have the perfect amount of food. Every time I come into Sushi En, I have an amazing meal. The only thing is the bar chairs are too tall to comfortably eat there, I feel like I have to hunch over a bit. Overall, I would say Sushi En is an 8.5/10, and I would definitely recommend eating there if you enjoy sushi.

Sushi En's happy hour is 🔥 - wine, select sushi and apps are 50% off. Warm rice with the sushi is so delicious and fresh. You can tell the chefs really care about what they do. Our favorite place in columbus for sushi! The tempura veggies are my absolute favorite.

This is such a cozy atmosphere for a small get together. The sushi is always perfect and doesn't fall apart when you pick it up. The Udon broth is one of the best I've had and the noodles aren't soggy. The shrimp, scallops, and squid are the best chewy texture. The Bulgogi is so tender and addictive.

This place was decorated lovely and clean. The udon was a little bland, just like udon in hot seaweed water. Shrimp tempura was great but vegetable tempura had too much oil, not crispy. Sushi tasted fine 7/10.

Great food and great service. Great vegetarian options for non meat eaters. Been to many Japanese restaurants around Columbus but I'm glad to get try Sushi En today and I'll definitely come by another time I'm in town

This is the ABSOLUTE best place for fresh sushi in Columbus Ohio! Love the happy hour and lunch specials. But overall everything is 100% amazing and fresh. I usually don't leave a review until I have been to a place multiple times at different times of the day. We have been here for lunch, dinner, and take out; all of which were great. They have a very cute little room that my daughter absolutely loves dinning in (see pics). Staff is very polite, knowledgeable, accommodating, and really just go above and beyond every time! UPDATE: I think management may have changed since the end of 2021 or January 2022. The last 2 times we have been here now the quality of food and service is not as good! This used to be our go to place for sushi in Columbus but disappointed the last 2 times as of April 2022.

Tried this place out and it was pretty darn good for being the hole in the wall that it is. We had 2 orders of pork gyoza(they are deep fried btw). Spicy crab salad, which was amazing and it seems like everyone got it. Also had crab egg roll which i was thinking would be like a crab rangoon, but it wasn't. We had a few rolls and some sashimi. Everything was pretty good. The only thing i wasnt happy with was my spicy scallop sashimi. Normally this minced up scallop with chili oil or spicy mayo and a small amount of tobiko. But they had spicy crab salad mixed with scallop which kind of destroyed the taste of the tiny amount of scallop in there. Service good and prompt. They didn't rush you, which i seem to find a lot of sushi joints do. Anyway we definitely will be back. Thanks everyone!

Food was fantastic! Go for lunch and get this bento box with a little bit of everything plus soup and salad for less than $20.

For those wanting to venture outside of Kroger sushi a bit, this is a great place to start! Sushi En's menu contains pages of options, which came off a bit intimidating at first until we broke it down into sushi-only. Still was pretty confusing maneuvering through all the pages. We ordered Negimaki $7.95 (beef slices grilled in teriyaki wrapped around asparagus) and the Chicken Yakitori $6.95 (skewered, teriyaki-grilled chicken with peppers & onions) appetizers. Negimaki is always delicious and my go to appetizer at sushi restaurants. I've never had Chicken Yakitori before, so I had no idea what to expect and ended up really impressed with the presentation. However, the chicken tasted really dry and we were happy we tried it! We stuck to only Sushi En Special rolls that were conveniently all on the same page. The tastiest one was the Last Samurai Roll ($15.95), next best was the Monroe Roll ($13.95), and I can't remember the 3rd rolls we tried but it was okay, would avoid next time if I could remember what it was called... Overall, a neat sushi conveniently located right in Polaris and close-by. Definitely will be back to try different sushi!

Delicious! Have gone twice to dine in and the sushi and rolls have been perfect. You can’t tell from the outside, but take a chance. So good!

Been to many sushi places and this place was only okay. Even just adding some sauces to their rolls would have helped make them taste considerably better.

Food was quickly prepared but certainly didn't taste rushed. Massive menu with lots of options including non sushi options. Many items that were very unique or that had a special twist on a traditional favorite. Service was excellent and staff definitely make the effort to make sure you're happy. Reasonably priced for the high quality. We'll be back.

Best sushi in Columbus area. Great service and staff is very knowledgeable. Love when the the chefs yell out as customers enter and leave. Always enjoy ourselves when we get a date night.

We are here a few times on business trips and to food is always great, service is good and the cocktails are wonderful. A definite favorite while in Columbus

Worst sushi I have ever had. I could not eat it since the sashimi smelled so bad. Poor service. Server was rude.
Steph
My friends and family and I have eaten here multiple times. I have left satisfied every time! Everything is fresh and clean and the service is for the most part pretty impeccable. The happy hour prices are great and they have some creative rolls that are very delicious! Definitely recommend it and plan on going back in the future!

Blah. Hungry so before I knew it, I had ordered $50 worth of sushi which were overpriced and so so! wish I had been given those two free creations! how does that happen? :)

Creative presentations. Friendly sushi chefs. Gave us two free creations. Fresh, clean, creative. Can't wait to go back!

If this is the best sushi that Columbus has to offer, the city is in need of more sushi restaurants. Service was mediocre. It took 5 minutes to be greeted st the front door. Five more to get greeted at the table. Not a good experience.
Amy
The guys behind the sushi bar are awesome. I am a vegetarian and they come up with the most innovative and yummy combos of veggies.
TC
I have never been disappointed. Great sushi and the chefs have great spontaneous dishes they will create and give to you to try for free.

Great place!. This is a great restaurant. Decor is simple but nice, you get great value for your money, the wait staff knows the menu, and the food is always very good. The food comes at a good pace, unlike Sushi Factory where it takes forever.

I have taken many different sushi lovers here including my bosses and friends from Asia, and they always have a very good experience.

LOVED IT!!!! I went to Sushi En with my 13 year old son for the first time 2 weeks ago. We loved everything we had. So fresh and delicious! Our server was excellent and took the time to answer all of our questions. I Highly recommended trying this place!

Fresh Sushi.... The dining room is kinda of small, but the food is always good. The crunchy roll is awesome.

Mixed bag.... I've gone here a couple of times, and I'm not completely decided.

Recently, I tried their chicken Yakisoba -- quite good. It was prepared quickly and came out piping hot (which was a good thing -- it was a very cold day when I visited).

Their sushi, on the other hand, was not so good. I ordered some spicy tuna rolls for lunch, and they looked great. However, their taste did not match the appearance. I don't know if they were having an off day, or their tuna was old, or if the batch of tuna made it past their inspection process erroneously. Whatever the case was, it was far from good... Unlike good tuna, which to me is smooth, buttery, and even slightly sweet, this was more "chewy", bitter, and had a strong fish taste throughout.

They advertise the "best sushi in Ohio," but my experience did not come close to that lofty billing. In fact, it was probably the worst I've had in the central Ohio area. I made it through 2 and took the rest of the pieces "to go" (and they went -- right into the trash when I got home).

I'm uncertain if I'll go back. Tokyo's Sushi (Powell), Ba Sho (Sawmill Road) and even Kogen's (Powell) are easily better (at least compared to what I had).

Absolutely love this place! The staff is always friendly and attentive! Every sushi roll i've tried is fresh and delicious! Worth your time and money!

Great sushi somewhat expensive.... Sushi En in my opinion is one of the better sushi restaurants in Columbus. I have never had a problem with the quality of the sushi and they have some exceptional rolls. Can be somewhat pricey but then again it is sushi...

Not sure what happened. My wife and I used to frequent Sushi En all of the time. I still like the servers there. The problem is the food quality. If you order something breaded, you better want the entire loaf. This is the first place that I tried a hot pot bi bin bop and I fell in love. Lately they have problems with overheating the stone and then burning the rice. We now go to Tokyo Sushi in Powell.

Unexceptional. A lack of varying flavors. Yellowtail was not translucent, which it should be. 2 out of 5 stars. Go to sushi ko, which is excellent.

Fan-wow-tastic!. This has to be easily one of my top 10 best meals of ALL TIME. First of all, you arrive on a very unassuming front which honestly looks like its just another asian themed location. However, upon our prompt seating, our server Kevin was alert and attentive to our needs. Our total meal cost was around $75 without tip. But i would have paid twice that for the quality of food and service. We started with soft drinks (served in cans with glassses of ice) and expanded to a bottle of Sake. Kevin was eager to let us know all the differences much like in wines that there are. We moved right along to our salad, a simple pairing of lettuce with ginger dressing. The Miso soup was light and flavorful. Along with our salads was the seaweed salad with sesame dressing which was amazing! As well as the squid salad. You'll never know it's squid. Our appetizer, rolls and nigiri arrived and it only got better! As an appetizer we selected the Veggie Tempura, I am normally not a huge fan but did enjoy the selection. Our California roll & Dragon roll exceeded any that I have had before both in flavor, texture and quality. The Nigiri (think I'm spelling that right) is simply raw topping over a ball of rice. Ours happened to be tuna, red snapper and salmon. Simply wonderful! Wish my girlfriend would have tried it, but glad she didn't since it meant more for me. Our other main course was a pairing of Teriyaki Chicken and Salmon. The chicken was spectacular but the surpriseng thing was the lack of "fishy" flavor from the salmon. I actually thought I was eating a tender piece of pork for a moment. Our desserts were simple and small which was welcome at that point. Approx. golf ball size ice cream balls wrapped in almost a thick gelatin texture or rice. Believe me my description does not sing the praises enough. If you ever have the chance to try Sushi En, I've got 2 words for you. DO IT!!!!
