Review Nida's Thai On High - Columbus

A Mexican Pizza
Delicious, low-key Thai restaurant with a nice assortment of curries, noodles, and rice dishes. The crab Rangoons and Thai Fresh Spring Rolls are especially noteworthy. They do close at 2:00 pm, so just FYI. Service was quick and friendly. The spiceness can be adjusted to taste. There's an assortment of sushi options too. Perfect location for a date night or quick lunch.

Always an excellent meal at Nida's. I've been coming here for years and the quality has remained consistent; in both food and staff.
Robert Wilson
cozy little spot in the short north with tons of authentic Thai and sushi. Priced reasonably for portion size. Get it Thai hot with chiles!
Dkay
Love the place. The food was delicious, great portion, shareable and so worth coming here. Very helpful friendly comforting staff. Great environment, clean, relaxing, chilled place to eat in. My husband and i will be back. Thank u for satisfying us
Jeff Hoelscher
Great service and the food was good. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were plentiful. The curry sauce is thin, almost like chicken stock is used instead of coconut milk. It was good, but Tom Kha and Panang curry is better with coconut milk, I think.
Allison Batchelor
Excellent Tom Kah soup. Good pad kee mow--nice flavor. Hor green tea tasted perfect on cold day. Quick friendly service. Comfortable setting.
Tomas T
Very good Thai food. I had better red curry but soft shell crabs were great. My beer could be colder.
Travis Langan
Great Thai and Sushi place. First time here and we got the Pad Thai and a couple of sushi rolls. They were great. Service was great as well. They have sushi nights when select rolls are on special too. Menu is huge, will come back to try more!
Vincent Lam
The place is super nice. My server is super sweet and everyone is friendly. Pad Thai is awesome. the sushi is average.

presentation + quality cuisine = a fine dining experience. Nida’s Thai has a creative menu and it is a quaint place to visit.

Great service and food but small portions. Got a salad and paid $3 for shrimp and got 3 pieces of jumbo shrimp.
Elias Pschernig
I had the Pad Priew Wan Pla and loved it. I'm not from Thailand and have no idea how authentic their food is - but it tastes good! Also liked how their water had no ice cubes in it (came from a chilled bottle instead). And they had my favorite Thai beer!
LJ S
Food was so good! I had yellow curry shrimp.
Kim
It is very nice inside. The Thai ice coffee is wonderful and it goes very well with their food options!!
Pablo Habibi
Chicken pad Thai: good. Green curry also excellent! Good service and cozy place

I stopped in for restaurant week and was not let down. The scallop pad Thai was to die for. I can’t wait to go back
Rich Marquis
This place is amazing! They have the best Pad Thai. I also recommend the soft shell crab. Absolutely wonderful!
Anson Tunsil
Great food and amazing service. Had duck stir-fry and smoked salmon sushi. I recommend if you are in the area.

Drinks were good, food was okay. NOT the best ever. Service was soooo sloow. Took forever to get our dinner. There're were 6 of us and we were having a good time. At 9:00pm we asked for a round of after dinner drinks and they said they were closing, no drinks. If not for the abundance of college patrons they would not survive...

I made several trips to Columbus during my daughter's four years at The Ohio State University. The highlight of these trips was always a visit to Nida's Tai on High in the Short North. My absolute favorite dish is the Chicken Pad Tai. The very best I've ever had. Seasoned to perfection with the perfect amount of sauce. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere cozy and comfortable. Great prices too. All around excellent dining experience!

Tried a chicken Thai bowl at comfest on Sunday. The food tasted really good at the time, however when I got home I got extremely sick. 99% sure this is food poisoning, and this was the only food I ate yesterday. No fun!!

Service was EXCELLENT, food was eh. For the price, sushi chef could have put effort into how it looked.

Always just right! Fantastic staff. Best authentic Thai in the Columbus metro area...only contested by Bangkok, which is way out east. Nida's is always a pleasure top to bottom. Highly recommended.
Hank Mylander
Service is spectacular and the Chu Chee Tofu was memorably delicious. Four stars because the crab rangoon (don't judge me) was paltry, surprisingly overdone, and inferior even to local delivery.
Amonte Littlejohn
Excellent food , intimate atmosphere, and superb servers.
Paul Wittkopf
Best PHO and Scallop roll in town. I guess this will have to replace Haiku
Sarah Rowles
Always great food, great atmosphere. Wish there were more locations!
Rob Gottke
Great food! Will definitely go again & recommend it
Kelly Liebler
Best Pad Thai ever! And the Thai Tea was my favorite as well!
Lisa Conrad Underwood
Food was very good - server was helpful with suggestions.

Food was delicious!! This is definitely a must for me and my fiancé when I visit Columbus.

Today the shop has morphed beyond Thai food into more of an Asian Fusion shop with poke bowls, sushi, bento boxes and other kinds of foods convenient for lunchtime eaters and dinner dates.
Chris
The restaurant was pretty empty when we went but I liked the design of the place a lot. The menu had plenty of great options and the food was great!
Melissa
I LOVE Nida's. I try something new each time but I've loved everything. Very fresh veggies and light tasting sauces. The Marinated shiitake sushi is a great vegetarian option.

Nida's is pretty, ok... service is odd in that it seems like it wants to be good, or pretends, but is awkward and sometimes absent one's table for inexplicably long stretches... that said, pad thai pretty darned good, soups and salads excellent, Thai fresh spring rolls nearly 100% rice noodles - hello? although i rarely discuss pricing, I'd estimate Nida's is 15% high. Will try elsewhere next time dining Thai in Columbus. Not bad, but could be quite a bit better with so little effort.
Natalia Roca
Really not that great. We just moved to the area and were looking for authentic Thai. Everyone mentioned Nidas so we went.the service was cold, the menu limited and the good just average. Chi Thai in Gahanna is much much better.
Ms.sapphire
Tried two different times with the same result. ordered the Gang Kua red curry and Gang Garee yellow curry, both mild spice with chicken. Both times it was way too spicy, the curry was runny to the point of water consistency, and the chicken must have been low-grade because it was not good. I'm sticking to my regular haunt further north on High... Basil Thai.

Nida's Thai on High. I had the great opportunity to dine here during the gallery hop june of this year. I have been to several of the restaurants in the short north and I'm quite the critic, both of service along with taste! This rrestaurant was beyond perfect in both aspects! We asked many questions and our waiter answered all and was so over the top in his service! I am visiting Columbus tomorrow to go to the Mac Worthington Gallery along with the Wexner and a mershon concert! I am so excited about the art, the music and yes, I'm definitely making Nida's my ultimate food experience tomorrow! Totally exited about dining there!

Terrible service, burnt food.. My husband and I went to Nida's on June 26, 2014. It was my birthday and our first date out without the kids in a year. After ordering, we didn't get our food for 50 minutes. After half an hour of waiting we got a half-assed apology from our waiter, "Oh sorry, I didn't get your order in until after that huge group over there." Then we started seeing people who arrived after us getting there food. After finally getting our food the excuse was that they lost our ticket. The waiter said he would comp one of our meals. I had ordered the glass noodle Pad Thai, it was over cooked, the eggs and chicken were burned and hard to chew. The waiter came by to ask if our food tasted good. I described the problem with my dish. He responded, "l'll let them know." That was the last time we saw our waiter until he brought our check. My food was comped but I never got new food. I barely touched the plate I got. My husbands meal was not comped. The restaurant was also very loud while we were there. They need some sound absorbing architecture I think. We will not be going back.

Bad greeting person. It was a place I liked until tonight. It was two of us and the guy who was responsible for the guests denied to give us a table that we wanted. The place was half full so it was quite unreasonable for the restaurant to have such unfriendly attitude.
Nida's was a place we visited frequently - not anymore. Nida's, You just lost a good customer. May, 29, 7 pm. Talk to your greeter and kick his ass.

A five-year favorite.. Nida's was one of the first restaurants I visited when I moved to Columbus, and years later is it still one of my favorites in the city. I've sampled a grand portion of the menu over the years and have yet to come across something I didn't like. Funny enough, my favorite dish remains to be the very first thing I ordered--Tom Kha. In some complex way it is both a comfort food and a high-end, elegant dish. I haven't found many dishes that hit those notes so simultaneously well--it is simple and yet plays out a tiny orchestra of flavors on the palate.

They have a fantastic array of cocktails as well, my personal favorite being the seasonal Harvest Martini, spiced with cloves, anise, and cinnamon. Many of their cocktails are on the sweet side, complementing the spiciness of their curries fabulously.

Columbus is crazy about Asian fare, but Nida's Thai on High is some of the best you'll find in the city. The atmosphere is upscale-cozy, the service has yet to disappoint, and the food is divine. Always one of the first places I recommend to new locals.

Fair. Nice atmosphere. Food not good enough to warrant price.

Went there over the weekend and loved it. We walked in 15 min before the kitchen closed and the staff was very attentive. The good was great, I had 4 out of 5 spice and it was just right, but I eat a lot of spice in my food. Will definitely go back again
GQ
Fair. It was okay Thai food.. No where as good as Bangkok on Refugee rd near 104...Too much sweetener to be Thai...
Allison
Very delicious and super celiac friendly.

Awesome!. Great service, great food. I'll be back soon!!

Went for lunch and had the Thai Spring Rolls and Fried Tofu Thai Fried Rice - - terrific flavor, not greasy at all, heavenly! My friend had Pad Thai and a different spring roll - both were also fantastic! My bill was $13 and I had leftovers, so I think it's a good deal.

Great Find. We were looking for Thai and stumbled upon this place. Service and food were excellent. Our server was busy, yet attentive. The Thai fresh spring rolls aren't done traditionally, but were still good. The fried tofu and larb salad were great. The mussaman was a little light on the coconut milk, yet still good. The pad Thai woon sen was amazing. Will stop back in when in town.

Loved the food, atmosphere and service. Word of caution on the spice level (1-5).... 2 is medium.. We ordered 3 and was sooooo spicy!!!!
Maria D.
Terrible service. Waitress forgot to put in our app, then put our sushi roll order in correct and when she delivered the wrong roll....questioned us when we said it wasn't right. Then took the plate away with out other rolls on it to throw out the incorrect roll (which was very awkward and the weirdest practice I've seen at a restaurant in a while). The she brought one meal out, followed by the other about 15 minutes later. Kept blaming everything on the kitchen even though we all ordered at the same time. Terrible experience. Don't recommend.

It was ok.... My husband and I decided to try Nida's Thai on High for the first time during lunch on a Friday. The food was ok...nothing we had was really unique or superior to any other place we have had Thai food at before. Once the big lunch crowd moved in, I felt like our waitress started neglecting us and wasn't concerned with refilling our drinks. I also felt like I was wasting her time when I inquired about a portion size on the menu when I was ordering. I liked the look and interior of the restaurant, but I have no real desire to go back.
Biketripper
Good food bad deal on beer. I went to Nida's for the second time. I like the food but the drink menu listedbeer without prices. They had Bud Light, Miller, some other asian imports. I ordered a "rice beer", 12 oz bottle. It was fine - Japanese Bud Light. Cost me $8.50! Nearly as much as my dinner.

Beware! The menu did not give price, the waitress did not warn me. I like good beer, but that felt like I got taken. I don't think I'll be back. Poor business practice! Come to think of it, they charge $2.00 for brown rice. Now my "radar" is on alert at Nida's!!!

Great food possibly the best thai ever. the jade city pineapple drink was light and perfectly sweet. Meaning not to sweet. Get a lot of dishes and share.
Chelsey LaCourse
Best Thai In Columbus. This is one of my favorite places to eat in all of Columbus! There is nothing on this menu that doesn't taste authentic to Thailand. The ingredients are fresh, always cooked perfectly and have the exact taste of Thailand! I would highly recommend trying this restaurant out., especially the Spicy Sriracha Fried Rice and the Thai Fried Rice with an egg.
Rebecca.wack
Pretentious. I found the food to be nothing to shout about and our waitress was simply ridiculous. because she was such a jerk i suppose my review is somewhat affected by her attitude. regardless, for the money, it was so-so.
Jeff Harris
Great little spot with fantastic food. They use many local & organic products.
Carolyn Thurman
Terrible Thai food. Their food is some of the worst, saltiest, nearly inedible Asian food I've had in all of Columbus. You'll definitely be better served by checking out Bangkok on the east side.

Late Night Thai. We stopped in for a late dinner at Nida's. This is a beautiful restaurant and our server was quick and friendly. We had a cocktail and Thai fresh spring rolls to start - the filling was excellent. I had the Gang Garee with chicken and it was very good, but my husband picked the winning dish of the night - the Pad Phong Karee, a softshell crab in yellow curry. A little spicy (you order the level of spiciness you prefer) but the crab curry together were wonderful.
Sally
Delicious!. The service has always been good when I go (usually on a weeknight). The bartender was also super nice and let us sample some unfiltered sake to see if we liked it (we did! and ordered a bottle). I like the red curry but it is not very spicy. If you like really spicy red curry either get it Thai hot, or ask for more spicy chiles to put in it (they have a separate condiment jar). While the portions aren't super sized they always fill my fiance and me up.
Viggen000
Some of the best cocktails in Columbus. Can't beat the late night happy hour with full sushi menu either.

Really likes it. I must say Nida's has very good Thai food because I'm Thai and I know the food. I went to this restaurant with two friends. Both friends let me do all the orders. We had chicken satey, mee krob, and chicken wings. They're all really delicious. As for main course, we did have Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mao, and Ka Prow fried rice. I personally don't like Pad Thai much but I did order since both friends loves Pad Thai. I had to admit that Nida's Pad Thai was excellent as well as pad kee mao and fried rice. We're all really full but we did tried mango with sticky rice. It's absolutely wonderful. Both friends and I left happy and think we'll back again soon. :)
Sarah
Just OK. The food is good, but they give small portions and if you like it spicy, you have to ask for it real hot or else there is no spice. Pad Thai is very blan and the curry has no spice, I would not go back. Service was great and the waiter was very helpful when ordering.

Get the Panang curry chicken on wide rice noodles ... The curry us spicy, but very flavorful and not too heavy. Save room for the mangoes and sticky rice--rivals what I had in Thailand. I'll definitely be back!
Krishna
Great Thai Food. Love this place. Ever since the first time I went, when one of my roommates introduced me to this place, I've fallen in love. The service is usually good, but can get a bit sparse on busier days... But the food is what I go there for. As far as appetizers go, the Spring Rolls are delicious; the fried tofu has excellent texture; and the thai hot & sour soup has flavor like I've never tasted before. Although, to be honest, I wasn't too big of a fan of the thai hot & sour soup, given that I have an aversion to coconut. But your mileage may vary.

On entrees, I have fallen head over heels for the Pad See Ew, especially with tofu. The tofu soaks up some of the flavor and spiciness from the dish, and in turn creates a marvelous accompaniment to the great wide rice noodles. For me, the spicier the better, especially for the Pad See Ew. I have had an agreeable time with the Pad Kee Mao, but I quickly switched over to the Pad See Ew, since I'm not such a big fan of exposed tomatoes.

All in all a great place to go to eat. I would definitely recommend this place as a date venue, but only on an off-night (not Friday or Saturday). Also, carryout is offered by Nida & Co, and I can't tell you how many times I was up late working on a project with Nida's wonderful food keeping me company with its rich aroma and delicate balance of flavors.

PS: try the Thai Iced Tea!
Lavanya Ramadoss
Excellent food! Ka prow and iced coffee were absolutely FANTASTIC! I'm vegetarian and everything can be made veggie or vegan.

Top notch thai. I had heard some horror stories about nida's service but we had a wonderful server. very friendly and attentive. all of our food was wonderful (2 different thai dishes and a sushi appetizer). can't wait to go back.

Favorite Place in Columbus. This is actually a repost, but I thought applicable here as well.

I've been a constant go-er to Nida's at this point having been there at least once a month if not more often in the since they've opened. Nida's is by far my favorite restaurants in this town. Given the circumstance of being in a small mid-west town as well as not having a very strong market to support the most "authentic" ingredients, the restaurant does an amazing job in being as true to Thai food as one can get. And again, let's face it, the restaurant cannot cater to just one demographic in a town this small. They have to cater to both the newbies as well as the more experienced. That is why I love Nida's because there really is something for all restaurant go-as Nida has done an amazing job of pleasing the novice to the experienced palate.

My favorites include the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Thai Fried Rice, and Crab Rangoons. The Pad Thai has all the traditional spices and I find myself cleaning off my plate to the point where I realize that now I don't have leftovers for the next day and I get really sad. The Pad See Ew is slightly sweet, but plays beautifully off of the salty soy sauce taste. And oh, the Thai Fried Rice with that egg! I never realized how well an egg could play off of all the flavors within that dish that just writing this review is making me hungry again.

I really would like to address some of the negatives. People have complained about the sushi and well, here's the thing: Nida's offers a sushi selection as an alternative, but it's true forte again is reflected in the name "Nida's THAI on High." (key note - not sushi) The service is bad? Yes, sometimes it can be spotty, but easy solve - eat at the bar. You'll get the best service there! (At least when it's my favorite bartenders/servers there!)

Overall, I know this is getting lengthy, this is by far my favorite restaurant in Columbus and I swear by it religiously. I only hope that the nuggets of information I have provided here has convinced new-timers to check it out and be pleasantly surprised or old-customers who had unpleasurable experiences to give it another shot.

AWESOME THAI. My boyfriend and I tried Nida's for the first time on Friday and absolutely loved it! For an appetizer, we shared the Gyoza (dumplings) with sweet soy sauce. Then he had the Chicken Pad Thai with medium heat and I tried the Chicken Gang Dang (red curry) with mild heat. The Mild had a little more heat than expected, but I still enjoyed it. Because we waited a few extra minutes for a server to attend to us, Nida was kind enough to comp our appetizer. Overall, the food was worth every penny, the atmosphere was relaxing, and we will be returning in a few weeks to try the Pad See Ew: this was recommended by our server for our next visit. I would recommend this for anyone that enjoys Thai.
Nuttie
The Best Pad Thai forever. Pad Thai A Nida's is my favorite dish and will be forever.

Best Thai, Sushi & Cocktails in the Short North!. What's not to like when visiting Nida's? The design and ambiance is like out of SoHo, the sushi is fresh and innovative, the Thai is authentic and spicy, and the cocktails are daring and flavorful. I'm there for happy hour often and always stay for dinner.

North Market Nida's is better..... Very disappointed with Nida's on High. We love the Pad Thai at the North Market. Way to expensive for the quality.
Heather Humeniuk Reeves
Perfect Price, Perfect Meal. Visited this place with a group of friends. The service was a little off, but they made sure they corrected our orders promptly. The food is very spicy and fresh tasting. I had a curry dish with Tofu, YUM! My friends were very satisfied with their meals as well. Average price 10-13 dollars very reasonable. Will return!
Hannah Fout
Great food, great atmosphere, great service. This has to be one of the best restaurants on the short north. Definately a restaurant you should try if you like thai.
Blade4000
Best in short north!. This is one of the best restaurants in the short north... cool atmosphere, great food, and not too expensive (not super-cheap either though. we paid 10-12 per entree). we got the ka prow fried rice and pad thai... both were excellent. they also have a very good thai coffee martini!

i definitely recommend trying it!
Paul Melko
My pho comes in a bowl bigger than my head. It is light and airy. There is a lovely cinnamon flavor. The noodles are perfectly cooked. My only complaint is that it needs more lime. When I squeeze one more slice of lime into the bowl, it's perfect.
EBS
It reminds me a bit of a few restaurants I've been to in New York City, which might account for why I like it so much. The pad thai is great; the curry is good, and spicer than you might expect; but the sriracha rice is my very favorite.
4ZFood
moderately priced Asian fare, especially Thai, in a slightly out-of-the-way location whcih has good charm, service, and food.
Jared Rutecki
Nida's Thai is a gem of a restaurant that is more vegetarian-minded than many other of its Thai brethren.
