We could all use some donuts and ice cream, right? Well, here’s your pick-me-up: Belle’s Bread, a Japanese bakery and cafe tucked into the Kenny Centre Mall next to Akai Hana and Tensuke Express (which just opened a new expansion and a sushi counter). Belle’s cafe is a long space decorated mostly in browns and creams, with an ordering counter, display cases, and a section of shelves stocked with house baked goods. You’ll notice a steady Japanese theme, with some French influences thrown in.
This Columbus bakery has many kinds of goodies that can’t be found in your average Midwestern shop. Roll cakes, green tea frozen yogurt, Rice cake based dishes.
Fresh, surprising, well-executed. We took our boys there for lunch Saturday. I was a little concerned that they would be able to find anything on the menu that was familiar (western) enough for them to enjoy . . . no problem! One of them had the tomato soup with toasted bread, and the other had a classic turkey/cheese sandwich. Husband had a very interesting dish called the doria--ham, pasta, rice, topped with mozzarella. Somehow it worked very well. I had the fish sandwich: super fresh and tasty. There are a lot of appealing things on the menu I'd like to try next time.
The cafe itself has an economical, immaculate quality that is very reminiscent of Japanese cafes. I'd think that if you're Japanese and are feeling homesick, this place would be a comforting haven.
Asian-style baking is a little different than the usual American or European style in that it is not overly sweet or rich, and the textures are light and moist. Belle's has excellent breads and pastries, desserts, and coffee, and very inexpensive for the quality! The best raisin bread I've ever had, and the choco horn is delish!! They also have a small menu of sandwiches and other light meal items that look great but haven't tried yet. The counter staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is comfortable. Free secured wifi too. The place has been very busy every time I've been there, so I'm not the only one who thinks it's good! My only wish is that they would stay open at least a couple hours later--they close at 7:00. Would be PERFECT to drop in for coffee and dessert after dinner at Akai Hana!!
This restaurant has expanded and changed their name to Belle's Bread. They have most of my favorites from when it was Cresent, except the egg and curry. Please bring it back!!!
Great Japanese-style Bread. I got this cafe's bread from a little Japanese grocery store in Pittsburgh and absolutely love it! It's cut thick and reminds me of my stay in Japan.
I recently discovered a delightful cake place that exceeded my expectations. The variety of cakes they offer is impressive, and each slice is a symphony of flavors. The moistness and freshness are consistently remarkable. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff create a perfect setting for indulging in these delectable treats. It’s now my go-to spot for satisfying my sweet cravings. Highly recommended!
One of those Columbus gems in the Japanese Market shopping center.
All bakery items are extremely fresh and high-quality. Everything is very reasonably priced as well. There's savory and sweet. Something for everyone.
Don't sleep on all the canned and bottled teas, juices, coffees, and drinks they have in the fridge alongside their grab-and-go prepackaged items. There's a really unique selection that is regularly stocked and rotated.
Rest assured that all their prepackaged bakery items are extremely fresh.
There's often a line, but they're quick and efficient.
My favorite place to get a treat! They make the most amazing desserts, some of them even shaped like adorable kitty cats! I always see the employees working hard, and they treat customers with so much kindness and respect. They work hard and it shows! My favorites here are the fruit tarts, danishes, and cheesecakes, but my roommates are addicted to their melon buns. I definitely recommend it to anyone that hasn't been here before.
Belle’s Bakery was recommended to me by a friend. I ordered the mango cake for my wife’s birthday. It was delicious and the service is spot on! This will be our “go to” from now on! Definitely worth the 40 mile one way drive! AAA+++
Located among a Japanese market, restaurants, and other specialty shops, this is a must. Freshly backed pastries, ice cream or coffee, all visually appealing and delicious! I really enjoyed the matcha cream puff. The strawberry cake, which is one of the most in demand items is not overly sweet and delicate
Amazing place with a lot of different desserts- all good! I tried their chocolate cake, and chocolate walnut cookies. The cake was great- soft, juicy, chocolaty, optimized sweet. The cookies were even better. Hands down, one of the best cookies I have ever had. They were chocolaty, and crunchy. They were neither hard, nor soft. The sweet level was exactly balanced and optimized. The generous amount of walnut pieces in the cookie only made it even more heavenly. Try them! Also they have many other stuff- all looked yum!
The best bakery I have found in OH. They have a wide selection of baked items: from bread and croissants to puffs and cakes. My favorite is the cream puff. Their cream tastes different than any other place. The staffs are friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend if you are in the greater Columbus area.
No wonder people rate this place so high and recommended by friends. Everything taste good here. Quick service and reasonable price too. Located in very unique Japanese Market in Columbus. You should come and wont regret
I'm sooooo happy that my friend introduced me to Belle's bread. She's been raving about this spot for so long and now I know why. I was mesmerized by the variety of freshly made pastries, I wanted to try them all. I felt like a kid in a candy store 🤣 The tiramisu and smoked salmon sandwich were a huge hit for me but I enjoyed everything I tried. It was truly a great experience and the highlight of my day. Be sure to check them out if you're in Columbus.
Everything we purchased here was DELICIOUS! Perfectly sweet without being overwhelming!
The Cheese Dome and the Matcha Parfait were especially excellent!
