Review The Crest Gastropub - Columbus

I was with a large party today at the Crest Tavern. Everyone was very happy with their food and drink. I had the walleye, which was very well prepared and tasty. They have some things on the menu, which require further questioning like there is a dinner item for mushrooms and another for goat cheese. What does that really mean? Well, the person across from me got the goat cheese and shared it. It is goat cheese, but wow, very good I don’t know if I will get it for a dinner item but yes it was excellent. My wife got the crest burger which she enjoyed very much and even more so the salad that she got with it. It had bits and pieces of fruit that she quite enjoyed. One of my friends got the green tomato BLT and seemed to think it was just OK.

A pleasurable experience both times I’ve been in. First off, I absolutely adore the community garden in front of the parking lot and the compost collection. New to the area and new to living in an apartment I was struggling to figure out the best way to dispose of my food scraps and gardening trims and this offered me the perfect solution. Service is stupendous! Each server has been very knowledgeable about the menu and seasonal offerings, and if they didn’t know they returned right back with an answer. Drinks are stiff and delicious. I keep meaning to make it in for a Monday Happy Hour and I keep forgetting unfortunately. The first night we came we had the Confit Chicken Wings, Walleye, and Wedge Salad. All were absolute show stoppers and hooked us. Can’t recommend any of those dishes enough! On our second visit we sampled the burger with loaded fries, the chili was a bit on the spicy side and def a coney sauce vs a chili, fries overall could be taken or left, kind of tasted freezer burnt but I was under the impression the food was fresh so have some conflicted thoughts there. We also had the Fried Green Tomatos BLT which was so HUGE! Thick cuts of bacon, a lil on the crunchier side, lettuce, their house aioli, and a thick cut of tomato with 3 smaller slices of fried green tomatos on thick slices of toast. It definitely filled me up. The crest salad as a side was refreshingly delicious with the nuts adding a satisfying munch. Not as impressive as our first visit but happy to try more of the menu and left with full bellies.

This was the perfect spot for a dinner date. The restaurant is beautiful and inviting inside and out. Service was a little sluggish but friendly and familiar enough with the menu to offer suggestions. Though the menu is a little short it is apparently seasonal and takes advantage of fresh produce. Don’t expect it to be the same for your next visit. Personally, I really like that. Adult beverage selection is diverse enough for everyone to find one (or two) that satisfies. The food was impressive. It was priced appropriately. Every bite was flavorful and was a bit different than anything we’ve had before. For example, the burger was a blend of beef and mushrooms. The sweet corn dip was out of this world. We asked for more bread to scrape up every last bit. The Crest is worth your time and money, and the changing fare will likely draw you back every couple of months.

Such a cozy spot. Be sure to make reservations. We were staying at an Air bnb down the street, visiting from South Florida, & did not know to make a reservation, but we were seated at the bar. Beautiful place, with farm to table dishes. Felt like I had been to heaven, eating the goat cheese appetizer!

This would get a "B" on my food report card. I think the cuisine and idea is unique, and the ambiance meshes well with the vibe they are going for. Happy hour is really great for appetizers and drinks with regard to selection and price, but the one cocktail I did get was the Apricot Cobbler and it was difficult to imbibe. The crushed ice formed a sno-cone like ball and the paper straw quickly became clogged with cobbler sediment and trying to drink out of the mule itself was difficult and I could not enjoy the cocktail (I think using a different style mug or not using the crushed ice would help). I also got two Manhattan's, both of those hit the spot. For an appetizer, I got the Fish Fry - very tasty, good portion, and great presentation. For an entree, I was pumped to try the Wagyu and Venison meatloaf, but it feel below expectations - for two very tender meats, the meal was burnt and dry; however, the accoutrements were tasty. Service was also ok - my bartender/waitress was great, but she was super busy. Overall, pretty cool experience, I would definitely come back.

I really liked the lamb and cookies, and my drink (the smoky margarita) was quite good and sweet enough to balance the smoky. Great atmosphere. I appreciate the "wellness fee" in theory, but it makes pricing less transparent, and it's already rather pricey. Server was awesome.

The Crest has delicious food, fantastic drinks, great values, and spot on customer service. Love the farm-to-table concept and the gardening aspect to the business! Happy Hour deals are super good, too!

First time here, it was great! Burger below was wonderful with the pickles being a particular highlight. The deviled eggs were also awesome and made in a way I’d never had before, some of the best ever! Service was fast and friendly and there is oodles of both covered and uncovered outdoor patio space. Lot parking is tight but plenty of street parking in the area. Definitely recommend!

My friend and I came here around 9:30pm and stayed for a while. This place is really cute and rustic, I liked it a lot! Staff was very friendly and even kept the kitchen open for us because the kitchen closed in 10 minutes- we appreciated it. I got the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, which weren't an extra charge, but I paid $13.98 for the sandwich meal. This sandwich was good, but a bit dry. The chicken was topped with sweet chili, aoili, tomato, and it was delicious! The fries were yummy as well, but a bit burned. It comes with a garlic aoili, which was also really good. The portion was well worth the price and I could eat two because it was delicious. The chicken wasn't super crispy due to the sauce, but it was still good. We didn't get any drinks, but their offerings and list of drinks seemed really delicious, I would come back! This is a great place for a casual date or a group meal, so bring your friends or family! There's no WiFi here, there is a private lot to park, and there are plenty of tables.

WOW. What a place... The food, the people, the ambiance....15/10 would recommend. The walleye was fantastic followed up with some butterscotch for dessert. Talk about a flavor explosion. The service was impeccable. Had this sweet lady Ali, the nicest most sweet server I've ever met. Go get you some delicious food and ask for her. You won't regret it!!!

Th Crest is absolutely amazing. It is extremely versatile restaurant as well, as mid after noon hours great place to grab an obscure craft beer. Early on the weeks great brunch it is. Friday night, couldn't think of a better place to have a date. Every bartender i have had here knows their stuff when it comes to beer and equally impressive mixing drinks. The kitchen features a farm to table experience that shows of the cooks skills. The food features plenty of Vegetarian, as well as Vegan options. The burgers and stakes are just as good so there is something here for your entire group! If you have not tried the crest out yet you have to go. Order a burger, some chopps or a salad. You'll be happy with anything you get here.

Manages to be rustic but not busted. Feel old and homey, rather than like a cheap throwback. A very unique place to eat in atmosphere if not food. However, the food is also great! Love that the menu is highly seasonal. Had the veggie burger and a salad. Both were delicious and had unique spring vegetables you don't see every day. Also sampled my partner's fries and they were top tier. Had a glass of red wine--house pour so I am not sure exactly what it was. Did not catch the waiter's name but he was suitably attentive and had a natural warmth. A little pricy but you're paying for quality. Will definitely come again.

Great service and almost always busy. Wait times are usually pretty long, but the food is worth the wait! Keep in mind if trying to visit that parking in their lot is limited, so you sometimes have to pay for meters or, on the weekends, find scarce neighborhood parking.
