I've been coming to Mugs Up since I was a kid and this place is like family!
ALL of the ladies here are amazing and work very hard, food is always consistently delicious, and the root beer is the best I've EVER had.
I am a otr truck driver and I have are at a lot of places and I have to say you guys are still my favorite place to eat plus the staff is awesome

Great service, yummy food and cheap prices! Their rootbeer is homemade and tastes great! The zip burger is so good. It's not an actual patty, it's loose leaf but it's seasoned beautifully and the chili and cheese are perfect. A true drive in, I love it!
Drive In Done Right. Like a diamond in the rough: a bit hard to find, unpolished around the edges, but worth it once you get there.
Very cheap, try one of everything and decide which is your favorite. I like em all.

Zip burger reminds me of the Hannibal maid-rite. Love them. Get a Zip burger with mustard onion and pickle that's the orginal. Chile fries, Chiledog cold root beer all outstanding. Car hop taked your order never writes it down and brings your food. Eat in the car or take it home. Lot is small and bring cash. A summer must in Columbia. Kids will love it.
Throwback old school drive in. Chili cheese dogs and home made root beer is as good as it gets.
The zip burger was interesting. It was very salty but a good salty. Get it with cheese which is like a nacho cheese. Fries are only OK and the root beer good.
Love the cherry floats. Neat little historic drive-in restaurant, completely hidden behind another restaurant, across from Parkade Plaza. The fountain drinks are wonderful, especially the cherry floats. If you're in North Columbia and are feeling especially self-indulgent, I recommend picking up barbecue across the street at Shotgun Pete's then coming over here for a drink.
Which isn't to say the food here isn't good - just that it's simple, unspectacular fast food. The burgers are not exactly my favorite style, but one I get a craving for every now and then—like kind of in between a McDonalds hamburger and a Maid-Rite, but better than either of those.
Yum. Love a zip burger and chili cheese fries. and homemade rootbeer...mmmmmmmmmmmmm. Don't go often as I have to watch the carbs and sugar but boy I sure do like it when I get to have a treat.

Miss this place. I always try to make it to Mugs-Up when I'm in Columbia (and its not a Sunday or winter). I always get a chili dog and a root beer, and I've never been disappointed.
Personally really enjoyed the food. love the atmosphere. Pro tip I didn't know till after I ordered you can order the fries extra crispy. Good reason to come back. Definitely will come again. Cash only.
Ahh Mugs Up... One of the best places to grab a bite to eat. My favorite would have to be a chili cheese dog plain, cheese fries plain, and a super orange to wash it down. When you ask for "plain" it just means no onions. I love how it's seasonal because it just makes you want it that much more and you don't get burnt out going. Usually a wait when you go but well worth it in my opinion. Just drive up and someone will take your order. And just a little FYI cash or local checks only no cards.
First visit of the year. Have been coming here for 50+ years. Food was good as always. Their Rootbeer is second to none. However they really need to get back to using glass mugs. The place is not called "Styrofoam cups up" after all.
My childhood consisted of this food, drove all the way to Columbia just to get some. The prices have increased slightly but it's still as good as ever. My favorite way to describe this food is top notch basic food it's very simple but it's so good.
Can you please use your page to tell us if you are having trouble opening? THREE times driving over 30 miles because you say open and you're not! C'mon! Gas is outrageous!

We love everything about this place! Classic drive in with fast servers that remember every detail about your order. The root beer/ice combo is extraordinary. I usually order three cheese zips sometimes plain, sometimes with everything and chili cheese fries.
